Haha, back in the day when people wanted to show off their recent purchase of an old car they always said: I bought it from an old lady,. Never said anything but in my experience I have a few friends over 68 years old and when I'm on a trip with them I'm like a cat on a rollercoaster.

Fun fact: My grandmother also owned a Golf MK3 for over 20 years and drove it like a getaway driver. She even complained when I drove - always too slow. After she passed away at age 83, the car was purchased by a young guy who takes good care of it.

Moral of story : don't trust anybody in the market of secondhanded car.

This is so relevant to Romania and every eastern European country where nearly every car imported from Germany by a car dealer is just under or around 200 000 kilometres and was driven by an old lady on Sundays only, just to go to church and get her groceries 😂

The ef civic that we can see at 0:17 has a golf MK3 VR6 bumper lip, which is quite common to do on these but I find it funny since it's a Volkswagen ad

It reminds me of my friends grandpa. He had a Golf 2 with no rev indicator. He had bad hearing and drove 50 in first gear. He only shifted when the car didn't get faster. He never did go higher than second gear. That car was also sold in very great condition with only 15.000km on it driven by a grandpa born 1923 😂

IV was my daughter's first car, I remember it very fondly, it was extremely easy and cheap to repair, including the bodywork.

Funny add. Pretty accurate in my real life experience. My mother has had a vw golf gti 8v mk3 since she bought it new back in ‘93. She slightly modified it when she bought it new, aftermarket blaupunkt stereo and a handmade stainless exhaust with double tips, chromed. Nowadays it is well maintained and looking brand new. The exhaust pops and bangs and although it is not loud, it has a beautifull sound to it, very refined. A new workshop we have been going to lately discovered us, when changing the head gasket, that a previous workshop had “lowered the stock, idk if it is said like that, thats what google traductor sais, in spannish its (rebajar la culata)”. Apparently my mum hadnt noticed beacouse it was done relly early when buying the car, apparently a gift or sth like that from a trusty workshop. Nowadays you can feel the difference with other gti 8v you see on the road. My mother drives a bit hard sometimes changing a 4500 rpm and passing everybody lol. She is thinking of buying a new gti but we are going to miss so much this one. We grew up with it and have learnt to drive with it, its a blast. I once made a car alarm go off when passing through a tunnel, who can say that about his mother car, huh? Jokes apart, one of the best cars ever, nowadays its still faster than some new cars and you can push it beeing a novice, it will just shake the booty a bit in a tight corner but nothing more.
