BYD ATTO 3 range test and fast charging test. I did a range test with the BYD ATTO 3 with the 60,48 kWh battery pack. I will review the range on the highway to find out the minimum range of the 60,48 kWh. I will also do a full range test at lower average speeds to find out the maximum electric range of the electric 60,48 kWh. I will also do a charging test at a DC fast charger to find out how much range you gain after a charging session of 30 min.

The questions that I asked myself about the BYD ATTO 3 that I wanted to answer in this video, were: what is the real life minimum range of the BYD ATTO 3? What is the real world maximum range of the BYD ATTO 3 with the 60,48 kWh battery? I also wanted to know what is the charging time of the BYD ATTO 3 at a fast charger?

Acceleration 0 to 100 km/h: 7,3 sec

DC charging speed: 88 kW
DC charging time 30% to 80%: 29 minutes
AC charging speed: 11 kW
AC charging time from 0% to 100% is 6,5 hours at 11 kW.

Bjorn has tested this in warm temps in Thailand already and has beaten WLTP on the 90km/h range test. Prefer a real range test from 100% - 0% or as close to 0% as possible rather than estimating it. The red looks good though.

I really do appreciate all your videos and making as close as possible real life test, please continue because your tests are a great contribution on the real range of EVs. . What I it find remarkable after looking at the high way consumption that there are not real big differences. Please also add the KW when charging, because it might show interesting differences in the efficiency while charging. I almost decides myself to buy a Mercedes EQE 350 + this summer, though this car was being replaced at the time, so I decided to convert my almost classic Peugeot 406 coupe to be converted to LPG to make a lot of kilometers (30k/year) being the cheaper option, despite losing my beloved 406 more quicker than wanted. however the 3.0 v6 drives really smoothly and quietly 😬

Interesting in Europe the onboard charger is 11kW. It’s only 7kW in Malaysia.

de auto was al interessant een jaar geleden, maar nu in Vlaanderen een subsidie van 5000€ wordt verstrekt (voor EV's tot 40000€), en BYD zijn prijs liet zakken tot 39990€, is dit echt een heel goede deal geworden. Deze auto is zo opeens meer dan 10000€ goedkoper geworden!!!!

There have been a few charging tests of the Atto 3 in New Zealand, and it rapidly gets up to the 88kW speed - but the temperature in NZ was in 15-20 degrees C range.

Bonjour je suis abonné sur vos deux sites et regarde dès qu’une vidéo est mise en ligne, je suis toujours en thermique actuellement et vu les prix et comme vous le savez sans aide en Belgique je ne risque pas de suite à franchir le pas, mais je me pose franchement la question à quand un véhicule suffisamment efficient pour faire l’aller retour Wallonie La Panne sans arrêt recharge à un prix accessible à tous particuliers ???

Thanks for video. Have 2 question: does it have V2H charging? 1. Can I power my home with car's battery? 2. How many kilowatts does it take to be fully charged? Assuming 60kwh battery will take 60 kilowatts of electricity to be fully charged? Will appreciate your answers.

A useful and representative test, but for me , the results are just not good enough to be anything other than a city car or daily run about. I have a Mazda 2 diesel and 44 li on the motorway gets me 1000km at 110 km/hr and I can top up in less than 5 minutes. The car cost me less than €20,000 and although the running costs will be more than an EV charged at home, public chargers are similar. I will never recover the difference in price of the vehicles.

very well, so you drive 1000 km on a daily basis then? In the real world, what EV haters conveniently NEVER seem to get, people don't often drive more than 200km on a daily basis. Most people are actually able to just plug in their car at home and leave with a full battery in the morning, with no fear of depleting the battery on your journey. I actually SAVE time since I have an EV, because I don't need to go out of my way to a gas station and wait while I'm refueling. But hey, I'm convinced you'll ignore this, and you'll point to the minority of people who don't fall in the category I just mentioned. I know I'm never going back to a combustion engine, and if I'm happy with it, I could care less if others hate it.

Sounds nice, but the Tesla Model Y which is a significantly larger car costs only 46.990,- whereas the Atto III costs 47.000,-- Euros in my country. And has better range. And has the better App. And has better charging times. And has the better efficiency. I can not find a single point which would rectify paying more fo the Atto III in comparison to a Model Y. Maybe the red color?

​@@Krahamus I would buy a thousand Atto III for 30 Euros each. I guess you mean 30K - thats without taxes. 47K is of course including all taxes. In the US they tell you all prices without taxes. In Europe you always get the price you have to pay for real. Including all local, regional or state taxes and duties to pay to the seller. BYD does not sell in the US - your US prices are wishful thinking. Here are some prices in Europe for the BYD Atto III: Comfort - UK: 41.287,-- Design - Germany: 44.625,-- Design - Austria: 47.790,-- Model Y Standard: Germany: 47070,-- (many models to choose from off the lot) Austria: 48.190,-- (lots are empty) Its just so funny that all other manufacturers have higher prices. For the same or less value.

@@wolfgangpreier9160 Yah i mean 30k, you can get for that price in SEA, in China its even lower, but ofc import coasts and taxes etc..i mean it really depends what you choose, my friend owns this car and as far he said he can travel on one charge eco mode with all assistance turned off around 400km, charging takes around 30mins from 10 to 80% i cant compare how much tesla can ride and how fast is charging, what BYD has over in my opinion is they're battery since they been manufacturing them since long time and even making for UK for something, they even have separate branch of battery manufacturing just for cars, tesla in other hands have far more superior autopilot, in SEA, India, tesla is quite unpopular and we dont have much charge stations of them, autopilot is useless because of crazy roads, people buy instead Hyundai ionic 5 and BYD because its cheaper and there is far more charging points, in the end i think competition is good for this market, and what coast more or less is depends where you live and what is available.

@@Krahamus Oh well, SEA is a bit far off. I can not compare RHD driven cars in NZ or OZ with the LHD vehicles that are sold on the other side of the world. Tesla sells the most EVs on the whole world and you tell me it does not sell in SEA. Funny... BTW: I drive about 80-85% with Autopilot. Because we have paved roads. I can not drive off road because its simply forbidden outside of private race courses. We do not have many non-paved roads anyway.

I actually just checked where i live for example ioniq 5 prime long range coast 46k euro by exchange rate, while the tesla 3 basic model is almost 100k eur. So yah i mean by this prices ofc not much people will buy them.

first the positive if the test is correct the consumption seems good for the temputure outside. then the negatives battery size 60kWh is to low, its the same like the competion entry level size and those cars are staring to get on the second hand market. Price of the car 46960€ for 8years = 46960/96 = 489€ you will be paying for the next 8 years for a normal working family thats to much and a charging speed of the dark ages 88kw...... Competition for the aiways U5 but one then with gitar door panels..................................
