@TallPaulTech Yeah, your vids on the car have been great (those fuses will be coming out as soon as I get around to it). Not sure I'll be quite as adventurous with ripping apart so much of the interior myself though.
I would like to hear your sound improvement evaluation after you have finished the upgrade. Thanks for sharing your work. I am still waiting my Seal to arrive but was aready disappointed in the sound quality in the showroom...
Dynaudio makes great speakers, does the existing subwoofer have a long throw? maybe 1 additional sub with high pass filter and upgraded amp would be enough.
Warranty on what, the stereo? I'm putting my own in, so who cares what happens to the old stuff. It's only a sound system anyway, nothing too mysterious.
@@TallPaulTech yea hopefully you never have to take it in for warranty period. I know some companies try and blame custom work in one area affecting hardware in another area. Anyway really enjoying seeing the progress with it.
Paul, What new stuff are you putting in. I notice don mine that turning the sub down to zero results in much better bass from the speakers. i think its clipping anf the amp lacks punch to run all of the speakers. What parts are you going to add. Did you manage a way to get signal from the system without using high level
The signal from factory comes as data on 2 wires to the amp. I didn't look any further into it, as I don't really want factory sounds anyway. After I ripped the sub out, I still noticed bass in the door speakers, but it's the volume that's pathetic. You'll just have to wait and see how it all turns out, as I'm kind of making it up as I go along :)
Good informative video. Keen to follow along with the audio install. Are you going fibreglass for the sub box? Oh if you could pdf the full amp 3 plug wiring diagram, that would awesome
Hi Paul, what a work you got there. im still waiting for my seal, expecting delivery in March. anyway did you familiar with the type of standard speakers? is it the Dynaudio Esotec series.?
To trick cars to turn off with the doors open most new cars have the door locked sensor switch in the door latch so you can just take a pen or screwdriver to lock the hatch while door is open to get it completely off. Just remember to pull the door handle to open the latch before slamming the door 😅
Hello, I'm from Thailand. On my Byd Seal, I recently replaced my door speakers with Audison AP165 2 ohm but have a question because the shop doesn't install a passive crossover for all the speakers. He said it wasn't necessary. Because the frequency has been separated with a car amp. Please explain if this is true or not? thank you very much.
That's correct. The amp has a separate output for the woofer, and another one for the tweeter. No need for passive crossover. I showed that or mentioned it in one of my stereo videos there.
@@TallPaulTech that made me chuckle. Look I 100% agree with your right to remain an ignorant fool. I think anyone with no skills, no knowledge and no experience has a right to show everyone he is actually a Clown trying his luck on RU-vid. You go girl!!!
@@bobimpey5620 dude, instead of nit picking between what you call a "base speaker" and "woofer", can't you appreciate the time and info Paul has shared with the rest of us? there's still plenty of useful info in this video, and it's still a speaker regardless what ya call it.
Keen to know if there is noticeable difference when playing music with and without original 8in sub. Also what are the wattage rating and impedance on that sub and what does it weight? I have a 2ohm amp that is 300wrms, keen to know if there is possibility of doing just a subwoofer/amp upgrade that is simple. The housing might be different though, how many litres of air is the sub using or is it a free air sub I wonder.
I'm using factory still, minus the sub at the moment. It's still okay. The sub was never that pumping anyway. It weighs fuck all. You'll have to wait until full install video to know the rest.
Can you buy a socket for the loom? Just thought It would make it easier if you ever wanted to sell the beast back to factory spec. Nice to see you get the DMM out, missed opportunity to use a network tracer :P
@@TallPaulTech $$$ I've seen EE's design their plugs & sockets for specfic designs from scratch, there's places in China that will manufacturer or just steal the factory design. Really depends if there's a market for 3rd party stereos in these modern EVs, hacking the loom is the cheapest by far :) Maybe a good business for someone to start up.
@@TradieTrev I was talking about car stereo upgrades with the guy in the shop, and he said there has been a big gap in interest since the late 90's, early 00's, and he thinks it's because a lot of kids just listen to headphones and are used to them. They don't realise how a good sound system (of any kind) is until they experience it.
Can you do a video one day where you compare your Seal against your Model S? Like how different they feel to drive. What you like better about the Seal vs Model S or vice verse?
