Ikr, like did people not Pay attention to police or driving school. It's literally ILLEGAL to drive without documentation in the first place. Like how is he going to say it's irrelevant!!
It is irrelevant if it's not his fault but evidently it was. 250 bucks is rediculous JJ isn't in touch with old car's that are in excellent condition she goes by that stupid book. If I had a 65 mustang and someone smashed into my butt and did 5k worth of damage she'd say it's a old piece of junk antique, (which antiques are 100 years old or older btw) and give me maybe 500 dollars smh
@@EmotiveEmblem Yes he should've, but if the other guy was at fault and smashed into him you can't reward the guy that caused the accident because he has insurance. Many people can't afford insurance but have to drive to work, this isn't NYC, Europe etc many city's don't have much public transportation
My son was in the exact same situation years ago. He was 19, driving down a multi lane freeway, a girl pulls out in front of him, coming out of a mall parking lot. They crashed. She blamed him because he was speeding, and I have little doubt that he was in fact speeding. However, like this case, she was at fault. She even took him to court. Judge ruled in my son's favor. She was suing for her car damages and everyone in her car took ambulances to the hospital, so she was wanting medical cost as well. I can't remember if she had insurance or not. My son was scared to death when he called me that night. It totaled his car and only had liability insurance.
@@mls2023speeding is subjective, not objective, no court can determine whether or not someone was speeding, they can determine who's at fault and speed is almost never a factor, that's why JJ said it "doesn't matter". He was wrong from the start for not having insurance, even if the other guy was at fault, not having insurance puts the pig at fault because he has unclean hands.
@@user-st1hy6ql3jat this day and age, they can read out cars and the system registers the last speed you drove, thats how they determined a deadly crash in my country, and how the accident happend. But if there are extreme breaking lines (idk the english word), it can give and indication. So without a reasonable doubt.
@@broeheemed32 It takes two to tangle. If a man doesn’t want children, he shouldn’t have sex with a woman. Why? Because life will find a way, basic biology. So both will be paying for the child.
I forget the case, but there's one where the defendant tries to play that card and JJ says "go to college, then go to law school, then pass the bar, then come back here and tell me what's relevant." Shuts him right up lol.
@@Dallas_K according to the defendant, they did. 1:36. And the Judge would know if them disallowing would or would not have legal merit. they aren't stupid when it comes to law. Judge Judy, a sensationalist tv personality, did in fact have a career as both a lawyer and as a Judge, prior to tv fame. (mostly focused on family court) Doesn't change the fact that judges are very well versed in legal issues.
He is allowed to make a fool of himself in America, However, the firm now knows his judgement is suspect and pray to god he is not using the firm's vehicles.
"See that door? Thaaaat's the one." An office manager at a law office thinks he can show up without clean hands across from Judge Judge in front of 10 million people and blame the accident on the plaintiff. And he was the one with a stop sign lol. He needed to spend an afternoon watching Judge Judge episodes and pay attention specifically to the traffic accident cases. Lol.
Yep & they always have the same group of excuses: it just lapsed yesterday, I thought I had i sirance, it thought my wife paid it & she thought I paid it
I am sure that this is the first time the insurance lapsed and it just happened yesterday while they were in the hospital in a coma while busy being a single parent.
Correction: It illegal to DRIVE without auto insurance. Yo can own a car and have it sit on your driveway - Have it towed to your residence after purchase.
Things JJ neither likes nor tolerates * people who drive without insurance * scammers * people who abuse disability * able bodied ppl who don’t work * squatters * litigants / witnesses who shout out. * fibbers * litigants who show up unprepared
She also does not like when someone files a false restraining order against someone, and does not like when a parent (especially females) tries to restrict the other parent from seeing their children.
Plaintiff was not happy with the $250, I don’t blame him. The inconvenience of towing it, missing work, and now finding another car (registration, insurance, plates, etc). He should have gotten more. Also this accident could have resulted in serious injuries or even death.
If you face a Stop sign, do not proceed until the traffic is clear. That's why you have a stop sign. You have to yield to the traffic without a Stop sign.
Even with insurance he’d lose because he was at a stop sign and pulled out and got hit. The odds of ever winning are slim to none. Having no insurance just shows his character
I agree. As the owner of an older paid off car in great condition, if someone hits me, their fault I am skrood. My truck is a 93, runs like a dream, clean, paid off, the city values it at just over $500 For registration purposes. I would have to put myself in debt for years for a new car if I had it wrecked
@@radolfkalis4041Lol that’s not how it works. You pay $1000 for a vehicle and restore it to something totally different you would have receipts for it and you can get it appraised or have it estimated. Since your only car value is $500 you would only get what you paid and if you put any money to it bring it to court and they will consider it as long as an accident was totally not your fault.
JJ said "don't mention classic to me" In all the years I've been watching her, I have NEVER EVER seen her award a decent amount for a classic car. She has the same opinion of them, as she has with Pit Bulls. She won't tolerate either.
Everyone always says "they didn't know". Are they for real? Insurance hounds the heck out of you for payment with explicit explanation that coverage will cease. 😂
Loved that Judge Judy had the defendant point to his car with the stop sign showing that he's already lost. If you have a stop sign and no one else does, you have to wait till it's clear to go, otherwise this can happen. She's just focusing on the insurance because this could have all been settled by them and not have to bother her about it.
The big belly guy can’t keep his mouth shut. He can’t understand that it’s over once you drive without insurance it’s over. No talking, no questions, no excuses
I laughed when I heard the guy works for a law firm and said he can’t say which one. Probably it was because the law firm didn’t want their name associated with this dumb case. They knew he was in the wrong driving without insurance.
Judge Judy is right about insurance. The insurance is meant to cover accidents. Lets say Person A has insurance and Person B has insurance. If Person A causes the accident, Person A's insurance pays for Person's B damages for medical. Person B's insurance will pay for a rental for like 30 days or so. Now lets take this example in the case. Person A has insurance and Person B does not. Person B causes the accident. Who is going to pay for Person A's medical? Who is going to pay for Person A's car damages?
Person a and person b? LMAO! No it is Defendant that caused the accident and had no insurance at the time. If he is found guilty, he has to pay out of pocket for all medical bills and car repairs by order of the court. No need to make it sound so difficult, when it is easy to figure out who pays for what.
It's as simple as "it's the defendants fault because he was illegally driving on the roads. If he hadn't been, the crash wouldn't have happened. If he had insurance, it still would have been his fault because he had a stop sign and the plaintiff didn't. The plaintiff had the right of way."
It’s the fact that it’s ILLEGAL to drive without insurance. If he had followed the law, he wouldn’t have been driving and the accident wouldn’t have happened.
@@AminaBeans205 That is true but they do not care. I work in a personal injury law firm that does car accidents. I have seen so many cases with one or more parties don't have insurance. Our clients are mostly screwed if the person that hits them don't have insurance.
As she said many many times, you have to come to court with clean hands. He was actively breaking the law while driving without proper insurance before any accident occurred.
He has a lot of class, that man. He mentors kids on the side. A really good guy. The posts where the dopey people keep saying Judge Judy threw him under the bus, just shows how little some people understand. It takes more than 15 minutes to produce a show. This is the one she had planned all along. Byrd is smooth and a real class act.
$250? gee that's all? oh well, better than nothing I suppose. Guy had right of way....end of story. I can't believe the defendant pushed so hard when he was wrong on both issues....no insurance and HE had the stop sign.
@joelb1299-and never tell her you’re on disability either! And whatever you do, don’t tell her you used your welfare money to buy presents or go on vacation!
Moreover than that It ain't so much admitting is the problem It's if to dance round with glib or equivocal answers about any of her inquiry if you confess right when she puts the question to ya I've seen people who are honest about their need for welfare and stuff get what they wanted in court if you got something that you know you're not as proud of yourself this time cuz you had to take help or whatever from the government own up to it right away and then she's going to be merciful it's going to be because of a she knows you're telling the truth and be that when you answer and you're telling the truth she knows you ain't trying to patski around and give her a bunch of hoodwink and kind of answer
@@WeAreNotAmused she really frowns upon ppl who loan money to others using their welfare money. Nor does she approve of fathers waiting for a court date before sending support money.
No one works for him, thank goodness. The "office manager" at a law firm is the administrative assistant who orders supplies and coordinates scheduling with the copier repair guy.
Bad lawyers. No really good lawyer would have him on the payroll. I worked for lots of attorneys and this guy is no credit to anyone. Just and arrogant idiot who actually thinks he can argue with the JUDGE! No courtroom would allow that, but JJ knows just what to do.
While you are still picking up the pieces and acknowledging what JJ is saying by the time you have the notion she is putting the finishing touches on the dismissal
The ridiculous Troy Stoffel trying to tell JJ that his having no car insurance had nothing to do with it sure got shut down quickly! LOL And HE worked in a law office?? LMAOO What a fool!
Yes I learned that back when I was a teenager, my Dad told me that if you ever are in an accident if you don't have insurance your responsible...period.
"Whether or not I had insurance is irrelevant to the crash itself." That doesn't matter. You can't go to court and defend your actions when it was illegal to perform those actions in the first place. Your car was hit while you were actively breaking the law, which means very few judges are going to rule in your favor.
