Does the 8 gram projectiles from Grimburg give you more power than the Byrna 3 gram kinetics projectiles? Tonight we are testing two very different wait projectiles to see which will give you more FPE/Joules. I think you will find the results very interesting!

nice physics breakdown of a heavier and lighter ammo for the byrna LE. I am late to the show, but I would like to see how the LE handles 4.6gr homewrecker busting balls. I just got an LE.

Yeah, even 36 is too low for me to be comfortable in relying on for home defensive purposes. I've seen tiberius t8.1 gums and first strike fsc guns tweaked to 50÷ joules. Remember, one joule is only equally to .783 or whatever Ft lbs. For those of us in the U.S., don't be fooled by the bigger number, do some math. Better yet, shoot some real world materials before you come to some decision insofar as whether you're gonna be satisfied with the results. A wrist rocket flip will probably shoot .375" lead round balls as fast as the 200fps results and hit a whole lot harder at any given range because even farther out, the more dense lead and the smaller diameter will carry it's vel/energy to greater distances. I've been shot three times in my life. The latter by accident. DROVE MYSELF TO THE HOSPITAL AND WALKED UP TO THE NURSES WINDOW YO CHECK IN CALM COOL AND COLLECTED. When I told her I needed a surgeon and she rolled her eyes and asked me what my " problem was," I told her I'd been shot. Was like 22 years of age. Her words were...following a semi suppressed chuckle, "I doubt that, I gotta see this," and walked around to the outside of her comfy little booth where I was standing in a growing puddle of my own blood. After she panicked, about passed herself, went all super frantic, she called for assistance and they cut half my clothes off...BRAND NEW BLUE JEANS INCLUDED. I was passed about that. The first time I was shot, I was hit twice. .22" LR, cci Stingers, the back of each thigh. I was 16 years of age. I was up inside a grain silo on the farm where we lived. A fellow I knew, who was later determined to have been on drugs that day, approached the silo with a Glenfield 60 .22" semi autatic rifle, and proceeded to randomly "spray" shots up into the silo. I was trapped...because, well, I can't fly. Anywho, I was hit once in the back of each thigh and was bleeding profusely. Every time by heart would beat another surge of hot watery blood would pulse out of the world's and run down my legs and into my shoes where it fast became a slick stick mess. I knew I had to get out but he was still firing. As SOON as the firing stopped, I climbed down the rear ladder as fast as I could. Now once you reach bottom, your backside is momentarily exposed...didn't know what to expect but I knew not to stay that way long. I turned. He was standing there with the rifle held waist high across his body, one hand on the forend, trigger hand still on the grip of the buttstock. He sort of bent forward at the waist, tilting his head down as well..."Did I do that?" Was all he said. I took the opportunity to make the best of hist physical position and what strength a had left, and I kicked him square in the face with the top of my right foot, as if trying to kick a field goal. No fancy flying sidekick, no reverse crescent kick, just a good old fashioned a** kicking kick like you might deliver to someone's nuts. His face exploded into a shower of blood, nose ruptured like a tomato and both eyes rolled back into his head as he fell straight back, completely incapacitated. I thought for a moment I'd killed him. I had not, but he wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. I picked up the rifle, I smashed it over the side of the cobblestone grain silo. I then walked a half mile across fiekds and wooded farm areas, then another quarter mile up an adjacent street to my home where I was driven to a Dr. Now. I wasn't even the aggressor. I was not so.eone hell bent on breaking into your home and/or killing you if need be in order to take what you have. Always...ALWAYS, consider ANY HOME INVADER to be armed and dangerous. Would I trust myself to feel safe at home with a "25" or "40" joule .68 caliber riot ball weapon, knowing the intruder is LIKELY armed with a knife or gun? Nope. You shoot me with that, as unlikely as you may think it is, I'll kick your a** and HURT you badly...on my bad day. If, if I were going to rely on such a weapon for such purposes, I'd tune it to a minimum of 50 joules, preferably 50+, I'd stagger the ammo to best suit any possible scenario of illegal entry to my home or approaching assault, and I'd shoot for upper torso with the pepper stuff and soft tissue area with the hardest glass-breaker balls or glass-breaker first strikes I could obtain. The perp is not playing a game folks. It's them or you. The ONLY thing that may determine who walks away could very well be lack pf hesitation and the willingness to inflict the most physical damage possible as quickly as possible. You don't want your lived ones to find out, after the fact, that your defense system wasn't good enough to save you. Just my thoughts on how I personally feel about the subject of self preservation as such relates to the use of less lethal weapons. Plus, there's a difference in "Less Than Lethal" and "Less Lethal." The difference should be self explanatory to each term. Personally, if (I) am considering either one as an option, it will AKWAYS be "Less Lethal," thus giving me the option to go more-likely-lethal simply by selective shot placement with the harder ammo. The perp's stolen .38 special does not fall into either previously denoted catagory...unless you want to get silly technical and say, ok the .38 is "less lethal" than the perp's partner's also stolen .454" cassul. Just more food for thought.

Great test glad someone asked. Throughout testing many different markers i have discovered launchers with lightweight delrin bolts or boltless ones like the Byrna do not respond well to heavy projectiles. You are essentially trying to move too heavy a projectile from a dead stop solely on air alone where as markers equipped with steel reciprocating bolts tend to give the projectile a bit of head start before the air comes rushing in and accelerating the projectile.
@ScaredyCatTactical

Makes a lot of sense. We complain about the FSC-style bolts but that extra bump they give to heavier projectiles is likely important.

Thanks for the video, and taking your time to give us some info. The long and short of it is that the launcher(whatever it may be) has a designed output. It will only ever fire a projectile at that power (Joule). In some cases it will achieve that power by having a low weight projectile moving at high speed, in other cases a heavy projectile moving at low speed. Ultimately if will have the same overall power - unless you modify it. One can faff around until the end of time, but those are the simple physics.

Forgot to mention, YES regarding your point that heavy ammo disrupts ammo feeding into the "breech." Solution, heartier springs. Evidence in point: The FSC kit comes with two springs, one being for heavier ammo. The TiPX has a power upgrade kit that includes a heartier spring to feed heavier shaped ammo. Bottom line, the Byrna LE is not able to reliably feed (at least not without incident) Grimburg's heavy (10.5 gm) JUL ammo.

Just a thought as I'm still learning things, but if opening the seal and venting the CO2 makes it colder inside the gun, would it be better to dry fire it until all the CO2 is spent before opening it? Or does it not really make a difference? Also if your target practicing with your launcher, does it hurt the seals to be changing the CO2 several times in a row? I know I've seen some people put some kind of lubricant on the tip of the CO2 each time, does that make a difference in performance or is it just to protect the seals longer.
@airgunnerreviews7888
@airgunnerreviews7888 Год назад
All great questions! I’m not a big fan of dry firing to release the extra C02 although I’m unsure if that would hurt the launcher, you can change the C02 as often as you like but without a warm up time it will significantly lower the fps. Byrna only requires lubrication every 500 shots and they recommend their lubricant which is mineral oil based.

Infact i learn buy an fsc indeed that byrna Launcher. The concept is weird bc its co2 stored in the gun. If u want higher joules u need a bigger source of co2 then 12g co2 maximal gives u 5 to 6 high power shots around avarage 35j ~ over 6 shots. If u want make the byrna shoot like 35 joule avarage u will need change the whome concept and store co2 at least in the magazine it brings u an advantage in cooldown and also u not limited on 5 shots in an emergancy Situation. The mechanism to screw the Front of and replace the co2 take like forever 😂 no Chance do that in a Bad Situation when u need the marker .. anyway good Video but for me byrna all they do good is Marketing sell old models of paintball guns paint them Orange and sell them double priced back to the customer.

@Joreel Год назад
Byrna has said in interviews that as the trigger and internal systems loosen up, performance gains can be seen to some extent as the internals are getting lubed more. This is why I really like the CO2 I buy from them as every 10th CO2 has a little oil in it so when I fire my Byrna normally during target practice, it'll circulate the oil to all the parts and down the inside of the barrel to keep it clean and smooth. It might cost me a few extra dollars every few month, but it's worth it to me to not need to worry about taking it apart to oil everything.

Confirmed: The LE shooting the Company's useless overpriced plastic puff balls makes the Byrna a spiffy gun for shooting . . . paper targets. And it might scare off non-rabid raccoons, but only if they have already had their fill from your trash cans. For self-defense I'm sticking to my aluminum rounds from HomeDefence-24 (both .50 and .68) loaded in my CC gun; and on my hopped-up VKS, TiPX, MilSig M-17, CQMF, and FSC Patrol Carbine ("tuned" by Danny Sterling) I'm using Grimburg's Juls. All the 'less lethal' markers modded to shoot through coconuts and metal sheets are going to get them banned or heavily regulated. If people are using these to bust through people's skulls and kill them, these will be placed on the same level as traditional firearms. The LE will drop someone as in leave them curled up if they got shot with it, but it's not going to crack their skull in half like it would if it were tuned to 70 joules.
