I say shorten the bed so your driveshaft won't be so long and less risk of breaking it with all that torque and sticky tires

Why do u think farmtruck never made his a short box?? I bet it has nothing to do with skill or lack of money.... It would be because the longer wheelbase would be better for drag racing 🏁

Build a complete tube chassis for the truck since you're building it from the ground up you might as well do it right the first time and get it over with there is a few benefits from doing so you'll have a stronger and lighter total frame and you shouldn't do it in Chromoly you should use mild steel to do it beings Chromoly is very brittle and if you were to hit the wall the frame will snap in half especially putting over 2000lb-ft of torque to it every time you make a pass it's ok to use Chromoly for the cage but not the frame and I hope you're going to make it a double frame rail truck and shorten the frame and wheelbase that will cut some weight there too and go ahead and make it a 25.1 chassis so you can get it certified for 6.0's in the 1/4 and beings that you're going diesel and shooting for 1000hp you're going to have to expect this thing to make over 2000lb-ft of torque and I hope you're going to make it AWD with 4.10 gears front and rear and get Strange S60 rears for it with some Mark Williams axles in it with full spools that way the rears are one and done complete

It's more time and money but i would go the extra mile and do the 25.6 cert. From the sounds of it that's where you want to go with this pickup and plus with all the torqe you are gunna have anything to help make it solid will be a good thing especially since diesel weigh so much. I know it's just a funny car hoop and a few extra bars but think you will be happy to do it now rather than later. Glad to see some more videos on this project I'm a Cummins guy through and through and everyone builds them so it's cool to see you building a Chevy and sticking with the duramax.

Should maybe try to find just a short bed I feel like it would look way better and perform better or even I've seen horsepower tv or a show like that and they actually cut a long bed and converted it to a short bed. I just think for looks and the wheel base for performance purposes would be so much better but it is your truck so either way it will be cool.

If you can salvage the panel from the cab then you should try and enclose the roll cage behind it so it's almost a sleeper
