We’ve begun filming content for videos on the water tanks & the floor, but only once we’ve collected all the content & finished the project will we share it with you. We’ve found that when searching for “how to” videos on vanlife, some tend to drag throughout multiple videos due to vlogging schedules, so this week we wanted to share some of the detailed work we’ve been doing, including creating a whole new dashboard set-up, custom switches, and even revealing our ideas for a grey water camera and light!

We’re Ladi (from Czechia) & Margaret (from USA) and we’re a location independent couple of 4+ years, currently spending 2020 in eastern Czechia due to the pandemic. This channel is centered around our favorite things: eBikes, campervans, and cats (mostly Millie, lol) Our world has definitely changed a lot since Covid-19 impacted our travel plans, but we hope to soon be back on the road with our awesome eBikes and little Millie Kua Maha, who is quite the traveler herself, and probably the most popular one in our little trio. Only if you want your phone's lithium battery to explode in the heat. Not being a downer but phones don't belong on dashboards in full sun like that.

Wireless charging power is still limited compared to wiring. And I don't feel like they care so much about wireless charging, but they may make it if they see the potential for a new popular video. I think a transparent (so it doesn't interrupt the view) plastic shield is more important as a good safety measure, IF they need to break REALLY HARD so nothing hits the front window too hard.

I am still watching the video, but I had to say that your enthusiasm is infectious and that I appreciate the plan to further break down projects. Thought you might like an idea I used on my water tank. I bled some warm air with a small pipe from the Truma blown air heating down to the inside of my insulation around the tank. I cut some channels in the solid block insulation to create a flow of warm air around the tank. The idea being that whenever you have your heating on, the tanks will be kept warm as well as the van. You can control the amount of air with a diverting flap in the ducting. I also ran the water pipe through the middle of the duct to stop the pipe freezing. Works superbly in very cold conditions. Your as inventive as me. Great job. 👍

My Ram ProMaster (re-badged Ducato for the USA) came with a back-up camera displayed on the rear view mirror, but I added a rear view camera near the license plate that looks straight back and the display is on the stereo screen. It replaces the rear view mirror since we can't see through the back doors. It works well. If you're not used to driving a panel van it's helpful.

Very cool indeed. Perhaps put a lip on the south face because if drinks dribble,drip or get knocked they may run down into your buttons and cause a short. You guys are skilled !!

Seeing you run all those wires made me think of something. Did you think of adding a Vehicle camera ( "dash cam" ) to the van ? It is important in the case of insurance claims ( where other drivers damage or total your van say it wasn't their fault etc . . ) Important to have - especially after spending months on the build. AND - make sure you get a high level of insurance that would compensate for your months of work if it were totalled in an accident. Meaning NOT just the "blue book value" which is what is used in the U.S. ( what a non converted basic van would cost from a dealer with no extra work etc . . which would probably be a very small percentage of the cost of your time and effort etc . . ) Have it insured for the value of your time and effort in replacing the SAME level of Van ( Value ) AFTER all of your work.

Maybe put a clear UV Protecting sealant on the printed pieces? The grip mats are the best. Just be careful leaving your phones in direct sunlight

Those parking lines are more useful than you think. Once camera is installed you can put objects on the ground at the point were lines kick in and then measure the distance to the van from each one so then you know how much space you have exactly. If you don't like to see the lines all the time you can put that wire on a switch.

Oh my gosh the wires 🤯 I feel so cool though because my dad gave me that same weird long spring tool with the claw on the end. Best thing ever to pick up socks that fall between the washer and dryer 😉 Can’t wait until next week and the music is great as usual!

I own a 3D printing studio, I would recommend ASA instead of PETG as it's an all weather automotive plastic.

Maybe you can add lights behind the rear mudflaps, I did it with my van! Now it's easy to maneuver in very dark and small alleys (it lights up the rear corners) and it's not disturbing to other drivers. (I can send you a picture of my van if you want) Otherwise a very nice camperbuild, keep it up!

Great choice of music as always. You should print in ABS. You need the printer room to be around 50deg... ABS will not move with the sun/heat.

armaflex my guys! throw a first layer of armaflex on the inside metal wherever you can (ridge, beams, cab overhead, doors, door siding, inside waves of the roof, inside waves of the floor etc...) company sells directly on amazon, 6mm/15m² for 109€. then cover the rest/ big cavities with thicc insulation.

Okay, you two make my day every week. I would love to have more or longer videos, but considering the insane quality I really can't complain. My city is in lockdown n°2 right now, so having such active and motivating high energy videos weekly is lovely. I missed Millie for sure, but seeing Uncle Mattis is a rare treat as well. This is so cool to see and in the Czech Republic! My wife and I are fitting out out first van just outside Brno. We're very interested to see your insulated tank ideas especially for winter here. So far we're thinking everything needs to be internal from freezing but I'm really not looking forward to internal grey water. I'm very eagerly awaiting!

I would have put a lot more sealant around those things - around the outside of them. That Locktite product seems to be just a glue, not a sealant. You need something like the Sikaflex.

little or big updates, its all good! I'm looking for security lights and cameras for my van at the moment. I have a roof rack so there are plenty of mounting options - no need to drill holes in the van. One thing I plan to do differently is to have the lights activated with motion sensors and the inside switch, reachable from the rear platform bed.

Side story: at my primary school tuckshop (like a canteen?) there was a drain where people's change would always fall. So I bought one of these to retrieve the coins and buy candy! Worked for a week or so until I got detention for having a "weapon"

Just be careful when you’re reaching over to grab your phone from that mat to make sure you don’t accidentally hit the gray water release at an in opportune moment! Because I know I would definitely get a little sloppy in a rushed moment and do that.

I'm not sure if you guys plan to have floor heating, but I saw a video where they extended the line running under the floor, to also run under the water tanks, keeping them from freezing. Video from Advanced RV, called B Box Walkthrough. Look at about 27:45 for a graphic. Not a problem in my neighborhood... winters don't get cooler than 12C. :)

12V heater will do the job keeping temp between 4-7 degrees)

They seem to have plenty of power, but if they do have floor heating (I forgot if they mentioned it), then they can combine the two without adding more power draining devices. Just a bit more line for the glycol to run through. Simple.

@@ladiandmargaret Most people don't have the all that free time, tools, money, or experience to build at this level (especially for their first van build). These two should really create a Ebook guide because people would definitely buy it over the basic generic version that is all over RU-vid. This couple has and finds great ideas that more people would really like to see and implement (or they could sell premade vans). But a guide needs to be made!
