I think It'd be cool if this was a series.. honestly your ideas are so appreciated and highly valued by so many people because your'e genuine, passionate, and you're so appreciative of all games, if you made an "Appreciation/Breakdown" series with all your favorite characters from a variety of games, or even some characters you think are under appreciated, I think it would be awesome. :) Side note: I used to be a strict Melee fan, but now thanks to you I've become a fan of all fighting games, I even bought a Dreamcast and got Garou and 3rd Strike, I also got CvS2, EVERY MvC, SvC Chaos, Guilty Gear, and KOF for other systems, and 3rd Strike and Garou are my 2 favorite 2d fighters ever now, so thank you!!

It's "Psimitar", rather scimitar. It a crystile spear used to focus psychic energy, the weapon of Askani order that raised adn trained Cable.

MvC2 was legendary. The roster, the presentation, everything. I played this daily at my local arcade and bought it the first day it came out on Dreamcast. It was an amazing time back then.

Loved this! Kind of like a mini Assist Me! I love videos where you go in depth with characters like this and I’d love to see more. Be it from old fighting games or otherwise.

Cable was also super badass in X-Men Legends. He had a lot of psi attacks that could stun lock enemies and his gun attacks were stupid powerful.

Man I love characters like Cable. Not just on how he plays and the technical stuff but from the animations and sprite work. Stuff makes great use for study too when it comes to drawing. Thanks for the rad vid Max, really enjoyed it.

this was my introduction into the deeper level of fighting games. I played mvc2 for a while before I encountered a cable/storm/sentinel lock-down team. On a casual level it sucks to play someone who chucks grenades and calls in sentinel swarm all day. It was also exciting to see what new character was unlocked or news of another arcade having another character available.

Hey Max fun note, his command throw has one good thing about it. You can use it after you land his other useless move timeflip and if done right you'll throw them on a bullet and you can follow up with ahvb. There is one way cable can connect timeflip by himself and that's with standing fp as the bullet hits him.

God damn, I remember trying that air hop HVB combo loop when I ran a team with Cable for a bit. That was sorta ridiculous in how easy it was to do with a full meter. Especially when you get a Happy Birthday.

3:22 Sweet Zarq! He DOES have Psi-mitar Warspear! He used to be all guns, then some blessed genius gave him the spear in the mid-to-late '90s. Got plenty of the those comics. He can channel psychic energy into it making an ultra-effective weapon.

Cable is awesome because of three words. HYPER VIPER BEAM

Cable was godlike in mvc2 his hyper beam slows down captain America's charging star by a whole lot and slows down juggernaut's head butt charge too .

The command grab had one great thing about it, that made it really useful in dire times. I've heard tales of players giving quarters to players who managed to land a command grab with Cable on them.

One of the best things about cable: his psimitar can be set as his alpha counter, which can then be cancelled into his AHVB. And since you can cancel blockstun into an alpha counter, that means there’s a lot of safe moves that on block, become unsafe moves that you can punish if cable’s on your team. IE, playing against a magneto that decided to cancel into magnetic shockwave to be safe? Block, then counter in cable and AHVB him to death.

I miss this game so much. It wasn't just a sick fighting game, it was an era of my life with great friends, fun hangouts, and deep learning. This community lasted years even without any patches.

One of the best arcade games of all time. There was months when this game came out where certain teams were dominant. Then new teams took over, and so on. Some many different phases of this game in the couple years when it was the top game in every arcade. Teenagers and adults on Friday and Saturday would line up to play, I saw a 15 year old kid get 54 wins vs 30 something different players....... huge crowds , cheering , lots of ohs and ahhss. Never seen anything like it in 20 years of going to arcades.

It's funny that the first time I saw Cable, was in this game. I knew almost nothing from X-men, but I always called Cable an "alternative version of Cyclops with rays in his gun instead of his eyes" or mostly "Cyclops father". Years later I found out that I wasn't so far from the true. LOL

Cable only needs one weapon in MvC2. His classic special attack - *GIBBITARR!* The voicework was so bad in this game lol. It took me a while to figure out that it was supposed to be "Scimitar".

You should do one of these to raise awareness for Hayato, Ruby Heart, and maybe Cyclops and Rogue. All these characters are super sick and deserve to be in the next entry.

I specifically remember that the one thing I heard about the balance in MVC2 back in the day was that Cable was apparently super broken. I forget where, almost definitely some magazine or whatever. This was long before I started caring about the meta of fighting games, this was around the time the PS2 version came along, so I was like 16 at the oldest.

Cable can cancel his d.hp into ahvb but on the first hit. Also it can be any hit such as an assist,lp,fp, even a taunt that can guardbreak you. The only thing you can do is either dash up or flight mode or take the hit and hope they mess up lol.

For some reason i remember(incorrectly) that cable had a hyper combo that used his demonic looking arm. It stretched out and hit his opponent like the hyper viper beam

Cable and Strider i knew instantly i wanted to use both of them when i saw them Way way back when i played this in arcades third member of my teams always changed but i relied on those two heavily back then and til this day

Huh. Peacock has a similar heavy punch button. Not quite as instant a Projectile, and the spam with multiple button presses is a separate special move.

Now that this collection is coming, I can't wait to play as Cable in Marvel vs. Capcom 2! He's my favorite mutant combatant. He's pretty much what would happen if you made Classic Nick Fury a mutant.
