Insted of arguing which one country is this or that we should all be gratefull for the sacrifice the russians made for europe and the world, if Russia fell to the Nazis, the war would have been lost for tha allies. At least in europe, japan would be gone anyway.
i think its cause theres no full scale war atmosphere in modern combat games, only stealth and small strike operations. Historically, we havent seen a modern war where there was lots of bloodshed on both sides, and technology was equal. WWII gives that. I think perhaps exploring alternative timelines would be cool.
Because of, poor story telling and market over saturation. the second problem is more important, mw1 and mw2 sold so well that every single major game's companies decided to copy the formula, in addition most of the competing products had no innovation to offer and activation decided to saturate the market further by releasing yearly CoD games. This is not an attack on CoD in fact the sheer jaw dropping success financially of the first game is more then likely responsible for a larger consumer base for the video game industry. Now a larger part of that consumer base is vocal about the need for both better design innovation and story telling in the game's industry. CoD has simply become a target because it has lacked both feature's for so long yet still generate an insane amount of revenue which is understandably annoying for people who wish to see innovation. The success of cod despite not innovating is a excuse for activision and its competitor's to not innovate.
***** I would not mind Cod visiting other non fiction era's but I Do not think you can go over the top in A WW1 setting allot of commonwealth and European countries would find it very distasteful because WW2 was one of the very few war's in which we had a clear definitive bad bad guy, witch is why you could watch you are able to see nazi's portrayed in cartoonish setting's. In the first world war every country was at fault and all of the European power's still have wounds, I am not saying you could not do it it's just it would be very difficult to pull off without alienating large portions of your market. But CoD seven years war, CoD battle of Hastings CoD Mongol empire, CoD invasion of Grenada, their are allot of good ideas The Grenada invasion one would be fun as hell.
When you take into account the amount of casualties and the great triumph of Russia during WW2 this song just articulates their part in the war so well and really reflects them for what they were: determined badasses who took every loss as a reason to keep going and push harder.

The first Call of Duty games' Soviet music showed the passion and anger that they held for the German invaders and that they were ready to fight to the death for the country they held so dearly to their hearts. It made me imagine the Soviet industrial war machine waking up and taking back what belonged to it. This music shows the unstoppable lust for revenge for what Hitler did to Russia and that Stalin wants Berlin served on a plate after it suffers a fate 100 times worse than what Stalingrad ever suffered. It makes me imagine that this unstoppable War Machine will unleash hell on anyone that stands in its way whether they is friend or foe. In other words, when Call of Duty tackles WW2 Soviet Union, they fucking nail it.

Ironically most people hated or feared Stalin. The reason many fought is 1) out of fear 2) out of necessity. If they didn't fight Germany would've exterminated all slavs leaving some for slavery. That was was their original plan when conquering Russian. In addition if someone invaded your homeland and your house and property was at risk of being destroyed or taken, and your family at risk of being executed, you yourself would willingly take up arms, regardless if you fought for Stalin, Trump or Obama. In war of defense of a homeland everyone fights for their family and their property. No one gives a shit about government. It is offensive wars that are criminal. In the name of anything, invading any country is a crime. Because when you invade innocent people suffer, while their leaders and politicians do not.
Im so glad this popped up in my suggested. The one thing I will say, When this game first came out, I started off with the demo first on PS3 Back in 2009 I was just 6 years old, I played the first American missions were simple but I felt uneasy from the war in the pacific. I played through those missions feeling traumatized as I saw heads blown up and the Japanese getting burnt to death. I didn’t have any idea what the story was about and had no idea that ww2 existed I didn’t know was getting myself into... It wasn’t until the first mission playing as dimitri when I saw the real horrors of war. I felt more nervous as the missions went on and I could feel the pressure of war and saw this video game as a destruction and a glimpse of what a man can do to another man. Seeing the cutscenes in between the missions and saw the real footage being used terrified me but I felt so shocked I kept watching all of them. And I remember specifically that one day I got to Complete the campaign from start to finish and stood there, completely shocked at what I just witnessed as a 6 year old. And now.. ever since that day, whenever I hear this theme, I feel myself having the nostalgia, but getting the flashbacks and the thoughts of what war is really like. But today I am 17 years old, and I want to say, that this game was life changing. One wish I could have, is to please remaster this game, so I can experience it all over again. Thank you treyarch.

Survives Stalingrad(!), survives all the way to Berlin, single-handily knock out 4 88s in front of the Reichstag, charges into the Reichstag, survives through the Reichstag, survives that deathtrap of a final room at the top, narrowly dodges a rocket barrage on the roof, survives a bullet to the fkin face by the last surviving nazi and finaly plants the flag on top of the Reichstag. And then the next game comes along and he gets killed off by some second rate russian officers in a fkin gas chamber on the first and only mission of the game. Dafuq.

Step 1: Create a WWII Call of Duty Step 2: add every single gun from WWII Step 3: add tanks Step 4: make a badass story/ campaign, starting all the way back to 1939 to 1945, from Invasion of Poland to the Atomic bombings of Japan, with a great cast of VAs, with all countries that were involved. Step 5: Once you have completed the largest Call of Duty ever, release the game. Step 6: (optional) Ignore politically correct controversies

***** FINALLY someone mentions the first 3 CoD's...I still have CoD and CoDUO on this computer, the campaigns are fun just not very graphically impressive(Still better than Medal of Honor Pacific assault however which is depressing seeing that Pacific Assault was like 07 or 08 and CoD/CoDUO was 04. but whatever, Medal of Honor games usually had poor graphics.)

This game has one of the best campaign storylines in FPS history... combine that with EXTREMELY memorable characters (I'm talking mainly about Reznov) and great gameplay and you have a recipe for the ultimate FPS game.

They keep saying the World war II stage of gaming id dead. but with modern engines, graphics and anesthetics they can finally portray WWII as it was meant to be!
i remember when i first play the Call of Duty (the first part) im was like....."HOLY SHIT THIS GAME IS AWESOME!" to this day i have it.....and i still play it its my first FPS game i ever had.....but now the space modern shit isnt that interesting......

TheTrueATXkiller I don't know if I'd agree with WW2 weapons having a higher ROF, seeing as in more modern installations of the COD series you run around with automatic Assault Rifles as opposed to semi automatic & bolt rifles that you often used in WAW.

This to me sums up the emotional and mental strain of fighting in Berlin. By this time your unstoppable, a train without breaks. But fighting house to house, block by block. My grandfather told me you'd be in one room and hear german voices on the floor above or next door so theyd destroy walls to get through. Even smell their cigarette which was different from russian cigarette. In the game you shoot prisoners, wounded, those running away. You strike as a hammer and cut through streets as a sickle. This was a game that had balls to put you, player into impressions which ancestors may have known.
this music really captures the scene of ww2, epic godlike struggle, destruction, and death, with an end that would only lead to more war. Its like hells gates opening when the russians marched into berlin.
My favourite OST from a video game. It's incredible how well the song articulates the experience the Soviets went through in WW2. It captures not only the horror and anguish they faced, but also their bravery and endurance. RIP to all the men in the Red Army who died fighting the Nazis. The free world owes an enormous debt for their sacrifice.
Justice782 if Nazi Germany wouldn't have tried to fight a three front war he could have won. I'm glad he didn't but the third Reichs military was a strong one for sure
