You're totally right about the skills. The game really encourages players to use them, far more so than in many RPGs I know. While it's a very mechanical game, it also encourages role playing. Sometimes those two things can be at odds with each other.

I recently picked up the Investigators Handbook too and it discusses wealth, money …Hundreds of jobs, skills and how they work. It will definitely enhance gameplay

I’ve had fun with it. I’m enjoying the Eldritch setting for Tricube tales right now.

I’m mainly speaking in terms of the solo player on this channel, so the solo paragraph adventures are not sandbox. They’re CYOA / paragraph books. You could create a solo sandbox adventure using the Solo Investigators handbook for sure!

They're usually included with the books when I buy them. But you can order them from Amazon. I'm actually in the process of removing all of mine and donating them back to a local used book store.

That's something I've been conveying in my mythos videos for a long time! I often hear people say things like "very few of the mythos things really capture the tone of Lovecraft!" And I'm like, "yeah, and that's great!" Lovecraft is only one small part of the mythos. The best thing about the mythos is how it is a collaborative thing created by and added to by a huge number of authors, artists and musicians, each with their own unique take on it. The responsibility of the audience is to find the style that fits their tastes the best. Personally, I'm more in the Brian Lumley camp of things.

@@TheDungeonDive What is a good book to start with Brian Lumley? I saw that there is 6 books in the serie Titus Crow. You recommend to start the 'Transition of Titus Crow'?

For his mythos stuff, I would start with his short stories. He has a few collections. The House of Cthulhu, The Taint, and Haggopian. The Titus Crow stuff can be a little confusing, just because it kind of stretches off into other things. I've only read the 1st 3 of the TC books.

The fiction? I’ve been collecting for years. But I usually buy my books from eBay and Instagram when I shop online so I know exactly what cover I am getting. If not online, then just at local used bookstores. We have a lot by where I live.

Yes. For 7th edition.

Scripted in the way that all paragraph adventures are scripted. It's just a common game term used for paragraph adventures. They're not open-ended sandboxes where anything can happen. You can only do what has been scripted in the paragraphs in the solo adventures. Of course a GM led game would most likely not be scripted like that.

You may have your opinion but it’s an established fact that he was super racist. That’s not up for debate. His pet cat was named Nigger Man. He was a terrible racist person who wrote some great fiction. It’s ok to enjoy the good while acknowledging the bad. Ignoring the bad doesn’t do anyone any good. He was even super racist for the time in which he lived. No one is saying not to read him or enjoy his work. At least no one here.

@@TheDungeonDive first of all EVERYTHING is a subject to debate. That's the BASIS of discussion. Second, my opinion is based on his writings that I have read. Also, no one gave me a real argument about him been a racist. I'm still waiting for one. He named his cat "Nigger" ? And that makes him a racist? You do understand that he probably LOVED his PET cat right? So...why would he give it a "bad" name? People can give their pets whatever names. When I was a child I called my dog with a human's name. Was that a racist act against the people having that name?...... Besides, 100 years ago that may be something people used to do without the same meaning we give it nowadays. There are plenty of examples about it. Anyway, you can have your own opinion about such things. You belive he was a racist. I believe he was not. (Unless I have evidence that he was). No one is certain because both of us did not knew him personally. But what bothers me in all this, is that people nowadays are judging and giving the "racist" label to others too easy based on rumours or misunderstandings. And that's a bad thing.
