Fun Fact: the "when he first spoke of Dimitri" quote at the start of the mission changes if you revealed your location on "Vendetta" (the part right before Amsel tries to escape), decided to not kill the two wounded Germans at the start of "Their Land, Their Blood" and decided to show mercy to the Germans at the metro entrance on "Eviction". If you did those, Chernov will say: "When he first spoke of Dimitri, Resnov told tales of a hero, someone we should all aspire to be like, his bravery on the battlefield is beyond question, but he has also shown mercy amidst the brutality of the Red Army, he is indeed a hero" If you do the exact opposite: "When he first spoke of Dimitri, Resnov told tales of a hero, someone we should all aspire to be like, his merciless brutality defines him only as a savage, just like the rest of the Red Army, he is no hero" And if you didn't meet any of the three requirements: "When he first spoke of Dimitri, Resnov told tales of a hero, someone we should all aspire to be like, at times I have seen him show mercy, and at others, complete brutality. I do not understand him. perhaps heroes need not question their actions"
It wasn't just the gore. The music was very melancholic, and the game never really gave you a sense of glory for what you did. So many characters die in horrible agony and you witness it. Truly an accurate depiction of WW2.
@@chrisbedwards Specially the music in Their Land Their Blood. Even though you are the ones attacking and causing chaos against the Germans, it still makes you feel overwhelmed
It's only appropriate. After World War 2 the world became less black and white. The Cold War was more about politics and not fighting for what was right. People became spies, loyalty was no longer valued. and sometimes good men were sacrificed by their own country. Just like Reznov and Dimitri.
Ricky Reynaldi | That's the point. It's only realistic. A lot of these men that fought in WW2 and sacrificed everything were thrown away as if they were pieces of shit, even by their own respective country. Just goes to show that in most cases, the soldiers and people suffer 100× more than the rest of these guys sitting in their chairs giving the order.
That was actually the apt thing to do. Stalin was a horrible person. He valued all lives as expendable for political gain against the Nazis. After it was over, he couldn't care at all. Treyarch did a beautiful job executing the Black Ops trilogy (which does not include BO3).
Reznov: "As heroes, we will return to Russia's embrace..." *6 months later theyre betrayed by dragovich, Dimitri dies by nova 6* Reznov: "Well, nevermind then....."
after i beat this mission on veteran, i played it on recruit and felt like god. quickscopes, pistoling, knifing the flame thrower dudes...i was unstoppable.
Similar here I've beaten the game on veteran mode roughly 10 times since it came out though, gotta admit : it was extremely hard especially the heart of the reich level. Call of duty 2 I've clocked more than 200 times since the game came out. I played recruit one time on the silo snipering away stage and did so quickly and easily it wasn't funny. Even I found playing on regular mode wasn't too bad
Aero Nine Agreed and i really want it to get remastered but then again, if they do that then they will of course add new skins and supply drops which will pretty much ruin the game. And these days CoD community is pretty much 65% kids so squeakers that will shout In the mic and campers will start destroying the multiplayer. God, at least we would have normal zombies and campaign.
Fun fact: in this mission (as well as the last moments of the Heart of the Reich) you can see that most of the enemies are now either heavily wounded (with lots of bandages in the head or chest) or SS units
Jorge Reyes That’s because games were already showing them and those earlier ones had controversy. The only difference from now and than is back than it was done for the first time and today there’s a wave of pc.
Erwin Rommel no, it'll come packaged with "Call of Duty: Bacterial Warfare" in which you play as a white blood cell fighting infections. Then people will claim it's racist because "why the WHITE blood cells gotta be the good guys?".
How it blacks out before the bombing in either, Hiroshima, or Nagasaki, was amazing. And when they dubbed the speech over the explosion, was amazing. Plus the facts of, how many were killed, etc. This game, has probably the best campaign. But multiplayer wise would probably be either MW2, or Black ops 2, my opinion.
Actually, that wasn't a nazi. That guy wasn't even German. In real life, the Reichstag was only defended by Northern-French who had been conscripted into the S.S.
@@justinripley7530 I severely disagree I've been playing downfall for an hour and a half and haven't gotten through the first checkpoint. Took me about 2 hours to beat heart of the reich.
@@braedenmckean375 omgggggg same heree!!!! The first checkpoint is annoying as balls.. You go so far and then they suddenly insta kill you with a kar 98 and you have to start from scratch the checkpoints in this game are cancer
Well Nazi Germany was f**ked after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor because yet more countries decided to fight against Axis. Nazi Germany had to fight against two different fronts while being in the dead center of both. Also, in each front, Nazi Germany had to fight against at least one global superpower.
The ending to this COD is beautiful. I don’t know if it’s the music (which is awesome) or the visual of the nuke going off and transitioning to MacArthur’s speech, but something about this ending just gives me goosebumps. People who think that video games can’t take on a topic as serious as WW2 have never played this game.
People say that games cannot truly teach you what war really is like but, in my opinion, they are wrong, because sometimes, game designers take on their responsability seriously
0:41 April 30th 1945: when he first spoke of Dimitri, Reznov told tales of a hero, someone we should all aspire to be like. At times I have seen him show mercy, but at others I’d put complete brutality…I do not understand him *perhaps hero’s need not question there actions* Beautifully said. The Russians and Americans both committed war crimes on the axis powers but you never hear of it because it “hero’s need not question there actions” Such an amazing game
its an easter egg lol if you spare the germans all the time you get another one where he says "he really is a hero" and if you brutally kill the germans all the time he says something like "he is not a hero"
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - good | Call of Duty: Black Ops - playable | Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - okay | Call of Duty: Black Ops II - good | everything since is garbage - except maybe Advanced Warfare.
12:35 That fucking final room. The music was so good, the map multi tiered, enemies in key positions to end you with all their might. The satisfaction of getting to end Germany and place the flag yourself. No cutscene qte bullshit.
+UltimegaSeven Oh man...this last part was the hardest. They kept on coming and I was using every gun I found on the ground. WaW is no joke. No 12 year old would survive Veteran mode in WaW.
+BackToBassics What did you say? No 12 year old could survive the challenges of COD WAW veteran? I hate this stereotype, I'm am 13 and have still managed to complete the whole campaign on veteran. Your comment inspired me to help debunk this stereotype.
There's a detail in this mission that I haven't seen anyone talk about yet: Some of the German soldiers you fight in this final mission are bandaged. It tells you that Nazi Germany was on it's last legs, and their manpower was overwhelmed. And yet even when they have been shot and battered by the soviet union, They still grab their guns and fight to their last breath. There's no telling if they were either greatly devoted to Hitler, or they just wanted to save themselves. But either way they would rather go out blazing than bleed out in a stretcher.
+Vernon Parker Getting into spider holes was best for me: you can artillery-launch your flames, and the grenades that land outside can't hurt you and the ones that land inside you can throw back easily.
4 years late, But yeah it's hard to truly grasp that number. 60 million... Holy shit. Truly one of the darkest times for humanity. Hope to never see a day like that come again.
I love how the intro for this mission is the only intro in the game that entirely uses game footage, up until the last few seconds at 0:32 when it fades into real footage showing Soviet soldiers storming the Reichstag with a flag to remind you that it actually happened in real life.
The chills you get when the Soviet national anthem plays in the background at the end! This game is in my opinion the best Call Of Duty game in the series, both singleplayer and multiplayer. Thank you for uploading, greetings from Sweden.
I gotta say, the missions were isnaley difficult and maddening but it was all worth it. The difficulty makes the ending so much better and incredible. Such a great damn game!
Easily the best mission. The music and Commisar’s voice, His voice is strong and tough, how a soldier of the Red Army should sound. It makes you feel patriotic despite not being from Soviet Russia. Reznov’s badass aura and his lines make you feel like your advance on the Reichstag is impossible and ya’ll cannot be stopped. The part where you push the door open as the Germans are holding it from the other side instills a feeling of the Germans being weaker and getting more desperate to stop your advance. The few lines that are spoken tell you how far you’ve made it when you’re making it up the 3rd floor. When you have the flag but are then are shot by the Nazi with the PO8. Reznov strikes him down, brutally as the Soviet Union anthem begins to play. Your spirit now lifted as your survival assured by your comrade, he cuts down the Fascist Reich’s pathetic flag as you make your way to plant your flag, the flag of the mighty Motherland as your comrades chant for you. You plant the Mother Russia’s mighty flag into the sand bags. Your contributions to Soviet Russia are not only told by the corpses of all the dead S.S Honor Guard, but by your comrades.
This level is the hardest on veteran. I died at least 180 times in the start in 1,5 hours. I hate veteran mode cuz enemies spam grenades everywhere. Otherwise it would be easier 100 times easier.
Joona Jalopaasi I'd say Heart of Reich and Blood & Iron are harder. I managed to beat Downfall but Reich and the Tank mission were just impossible for me on veteran.
@@michaelwittman6494 exactly. the world is fucked up than ever and it only gets worse with every generation its only a matter of time before we hit a third world war
One time, my older brother and I were playing this level and we also had a bunch of random RU-vid videos auto-playing in the background. So this ended up happening at the end. Viktor Reznov: "Dimitri!" RU-vid Video: "🎵🎵It's time to brush your teeth!🎵🎵"
The soundtrack behind General MacArthur's speech at the end sent chills down my spine, this game did a magnificent job at showing the dark side of human nature. This war was one of the bigger matches we are using to destroy our planet.
You make it look like a lot more manageable then I remember it be. Then again I haven't played this in ages and the 2nd time I completed it on veteran it felt a lot more easier than 1st time, gotta try it out how it would go next try.
It would have been amazing historical add-on if the SS Honour guard actually spoke French/Danish or Norwegian since the defenders of the Reichstag were primarily French, Norwegian and Danish soldiers.
I am not humanizing nazis at all , but could you imagine being in their perspective ? Literally surrounded by the enemy coming in from all sides but you know you are the last few defenders of your country. If you run you die and you fight you die , like I couldn’t even begin to imagine what is going through the Germans heads. War is indeed hell
