this game is actually treyarch's middle finger to someone saying that ww2 has been done to death, it shows a side of ww2 that few game devs know about, the extremely gritty, violent side. Truly one of the best CoDs around
While I disagree about devs not knowing about the dark side, Treyarch actually made the campaign include the dark side of WW2, developers nowadays are too much of pussies to make a realistic war game.
I agree with that Nobody EVER has the marine raiders in their games either or the Japanese side of world war 2 (except Battlfields new chapter that's gonna have something about Japan and the older cods on PS2 which I've played)
@@nyl0n733 I disagree slightly because they did include some of the horrors of the second world war but world at war gives a more accurate and realistic depiction of ww2. They also didn't just portray the allies as the ultimate heroes and waw even showed the people you fight for doing some very bad things. I should stop talking but I absolutely love this game to much. This game was made to think in my opinion to make us feel what they felt during the war, the angry, the fear, the sadness... No one, tried those kind of things. Still today, waw is the most horrific CoD I played
It is underrated because back in 2008 everyone played CoD2 and CoD4. CoD2 players pretty much stick to cod2. About singleplayer- people were tired of ww2 games because there were too many of them. People wanted CODs with modern weapons. Just like nowadays people want ww1 and ww2 games because they're sick of modern warfare.
@@averagefirearmenthusiastil914 thats why i had my server back in the day and i used the server console/manager so much to ban salty ppl and cheaters when they came back on other acc and bc of that my server was clean all the time also had rules so the gameplay there was good like no second chance martydom no killstreaks (i think it was dogs and reconplane only) and bazooka was only meant to be used on tanks that was a great time, now everywhere i go theres salty ppl and cheaters, i wish the games were same as they were then
I think the russian campaign showed how ugly and brutal war is. And the american campaign showed how scary and suspenseful it was fighting the japanese
War isn't ugly and brutal. I mean, it can be, but mostly it's boring and tedious. It also CAN be glorious. The best and worst of all human endeavors comes out in war.
Of course it was, he was young here. His inclusion in Black Ops is more of way of cementing the story in the same continuity as WAW, and so that the WWII origins are grounded with known characters. It also motivates you to kill Dragovich, Kravchenko and Steiner....

right like with blackout, everybody wanted a campaign but they went with battle royale because fortnite was doing it. call of duty is only call of duty with good campaign and good zombies. I mean every game has multiplayer, but very few games could pull off campaigns like in WaW and black ops 1 , now the game is starting to suck because they don't put much effort into campaign. and while the story zombies is cool I personally just like how it was with BO1, run around with good guns, find some rocks, and kill everything that moves until you get over run
We need more World War II first person shooters If the Western front has been explored to death, then do the Eastern front. The Russian side of the war hasn't been explored enough
World At War 2 mission 1 - Invasion of Manchuria: Japanese private Sadou Mow has been deceived into thinking he will liberate fellow Asians from the white man, when infact he quickly learns it was an act of expansion. Next -missing- mission will take place with the invasion of Poland.
It is 2022 and I blast this whole ost at work without a fuck given. People ask me what I’m playing and I give them a whole history lesson in why this game is fucking badass.
This was one of the best and last times a WW2 game was done right. The story, the music, the characters, etc. All of it done so well to encapsulate a doomed, gritty and bloody time in human history. There were some games that tried to get close like Battalion 1944's War-torn system. But in the end W@W just had it all combine. Call of Duty and Battlefield's return to WW2 today is a left down to what a masterpiece this game is.
I have been playing Cod for years. This was the first game I played at 5 years old on my ps3 and I literally get chills hearing this even more so now that I can look back and appreciate the efforts they put in and how detailed and utterly moving the story was. I’ve played every other game in the series from this game until now and all I can say is I wish I could’ve had the talent to maybe go pro then and not now
1:47 to 1:58 makes me feel like a russian soldier running through the burning streets of Berlin all cover in blood and Sweat with PPSH in hand returning all the pain suffered and realizing that the whole thing is almost over, the Vendetta that is.
If anyone is able to find the guitar chords to this, I would very thankful. I've been trying for months to find it, as World at War is one of my favorite games, and being able to play this would just be amazing.
I said the same thing bout this WW2 vet who was murdered few years ago, saying he should have died in the war. Because he died in vain, wherefore if he died in the war , he died not in vain but as a hero.
This song brings back the days when I think I was like 5 ,where I would be running through Berlin with a PPSH-44 mowing down Nazi soldiers man they either need to put effort into campaigns or remaster this game to the exact where everything is the complete same
I would say remaster WaW but don't change shit, it is perfect how it is. if WaW was remastered instead of CoD WWII I think everyone would be happier, WWII is good an all but nothing compared to WaW
@@o_b3814 the first few times I played I didn't understand it but I learned about WWII and stuff and understood it, the game was actually showed a LOT about the terrors of war, which surprisingly made the game better

When I played this mission I couldn’t help but feel admiration for the last Germans who held the Reichstag to the bitter end. Obviously the Nazis were evil and had to be dealt with, but I admire the bravery of the German soldiers. They sure as hell didn’t go out with a whimper.
man you honnestly cant imagine the horrors the soviet union brought on their revenge trip across europe the didnt care if you were a pole a czech estonian romanian or whatever they raped their way from belarus to berlin they murdered , the old the weak the wounded and often children that coupled with the relentless propaganda by the nazis made them absolute demons to the germans also since we germans didnt really behave in russia the german soldiers knew not to expect any mercy from the reds the eastern front was a war of utter anihalation by both sides and our minds that have been clouded by 80 years of peace cannot comprehend the pure brutality and unhumanness of this front the german troop who were moved from the eastenr to the western front had fun playing with the allies it was like a kindergarden for them
funnily enough by the way the last defenders of the reichstag were no germans but french! and other foreighn ss troops they knew no matter who might take them prisoner they wouldnt survive i read a story of when french ss troops came in contact with french troops fighting on the allied side the free french troops asked the ss men why they wore german uniforms the ss men laughed and said for the same reason you wear an american one... they were later executed on the spot by their own countrymen and had their bodies mutilated

This would be the best thing Call Of Duty ever did if they used this very theme in Black Ops Cold War as soon as you betray NATO and the rpg rocket hits the ground.
