Great video. Just ordered the comp stage 1 nsr 218/228. Can’t wait to see the numbers on the dyno for that on my jgc srt

Premature Lifter failure 6.4 Gen 3 typically linked to early production engines. 2016 engine production onwards introduced larger thicker needle bearings to lifter roller.

Yes. Good info. Unfortunately they still didn't address the camshaft hardness issues. I've had cams fail before the lifters.

Very good video. The factory exhaust is so good on these cars its not worth doing headers. However it would be interesting to see what the gains would be with a cam swap on stock manifolds.

Hi. I've done it reverse order on a Jeep, so cam first, then exhaust. Cam was up 40 engine hp over with stock exhaust. Exhaust added 20 more.

This is one of the best vids I have seen on upgrading the 6.4L. Your tune produced a very smooth output curve. Well done. Any info on the stage one cam?
@unigroupengineering
@unigroupengineering 3 года назад
Thank you Jack! This was a very small cam, about 215 on the intake and 220 on the exh at 50, with just under 600lift, still running the stock springs.

Non MDS lifters are required, correct? I had been looking at a stage 3 cam for my 2019 scat pack challenger, but after looking at your other video and dyno numbers of the 3 stages compared, the stage 1 seems like a no brainer, especially on stock internals.
@tesla_3_performance
@tesla_3_performance 2 года назад
Only 392 stock...seems low no? I figured stock would be around 420-430s for a 6.4. 485HP at the crank for 6.4s at least on a Scatpack, just assumed it'd be the same on this 300.

I know this is a old vid but how you get your cam to have a smooth Idle? Is the mds still Active?
@unigroupengineering
@unigroupengineering 9 месяцев назад
It’s done by adjusting idle control parameters in the tune. Lightly loading up the engine with small converter always helps.

@@unigroupengineering My 2013 392 had lifter failure at 43k miles. I am considering this cam but would it work with stock exhaust headers? I figured I'd be down about 15 hp or so. Which tuning device would you recommend for a 2013? Wish your shop was in the states! Keep up the good work
@yguven67
@yguven67 2 года назад
@@mikevoltz6947 Hi Mike, stock headers work well with this cam. Sedans have a decent header from stock, better than the cast ones on the Jeeps. We use HP tuners. What matters most however is the tuner, not the product. I’d pick my tuner first then go with his recommended product. Best of luck with the build.

@unigroupengineering
@unigroupengineering 3 года назад
@@jonathanslim1486 I've had a good run with them, especially in a rear wheel drive car, where excess power usually goes to wheelspin. 4wd Jeeps are a little different with all wheel drive and traction due to weight. Perhaps I've been lucky, but with 650hp at the engine, I've never had problems on a transmission that was good to begin with.

Got another vid coming, stage 1 Vs 2 Vs 3. Hopefully will have it edited in the next 2 weeks. Next cam up makes more above 5000rpm but loses under. Sounds lumpier and tougher at idle. This cam above is my personal favourite as the time of writing this.

it's interesting that you mention a 12k service interval. I think that's too much also. Here in Saudi the local agency/dealer actually uses a service schedule specific to the 6.2L and 6.4L vehicles where service is done every 5k, possibly to cope with the hot and dusty climate.
