In this detailed video I show how I install a 3 way 12v/240v/Gas Fridge in to my VW T4 Campervan Conversion as well as building my own fridge unit from scratch. The fridge I am using is a good condition Electolux RM2262 (see link below) which is the larger model compared to the RM 212.
I build my fridge cabinet using the same high gloss sparkle worktop so it matches all other units in the van. To be sure the cabinet was made to measure, I used old ply to make a template to make sure the cabinet sat correctly to the panel beans in the van. Once I finish the cabinet, I proceed to cut the required holes in the side of the van for ventilation and the exhaust flue. After all the holes are cut in, I secure the vents in place with Sikaflex and proceed to install the fridge.
The wiring for the fridge is simple with a 12v supply being ran from the battery via a switched relay, with the ground to the van chassis meaning the fridge will only operate on 12v when the van is running. The 240v is fed directly in to my consumer unit on its own MCB. The gas is ran under the van to a T join where the supply is provided for the fridge and my Propex heater.
