Hey Joe, good looking meal you whipped up ! Thanks Melissa for sharing your channel with Joe, you two make a good team. Keep up the good work and videos and thanks for sharing with us.
We always struggled getting baked potatoes done right, then while watching a tent video I heard you say you just squeeze the sides to tell when its done. This method works as we have had no issues with baked potatoes being under cooked since!
I know it's a baked potato video, but holy smokes. The snow is really deep up there. I love potatoes baked on an open fire. Camping is the best my fondest memories are Elk hunting in Oregon. Camping in the snow with a tent like yours. Camp stove inside and the snow piled up deep on the outside. My boys loved Elk Camp. I have to say though "THE TENT" videos are my favorites.
Hey Joe, those are Tent potatoes not Rooster potatoes, lol! Melissa, so glad you have your own channel. Along with your style of cooking, every now and then would love to see you pop in vids of your crafting, maybe a take along thrift store treasure hunt, a day with your pets, etc. Just simple vids that aren't too much work, if that's possible. No matter what, it's all good!
Truck loads of potatoes, and acres and acres of beef, & pork .. but when I first watched you cooking...yes at the tent, you put it on a paper plate. Thought I have to follow this guy. We use paper plates too. Except special occasions. Any hoot, give us a Ca-Caw or crow sound 😆 peace ✌️
Melissa and Joe , Thank you guys so much for bringing us ALL aspects of your cooking !! I can't wait for some Smoking and Grilling adventures once you guys get out of the deep freeze !
Fun fact- pork steak are called flint steak in Norway. Named after the steaks we see in the flintstones 😊 We can buy them plain or marinated . One of our favorites for the grill in summer 😊
Melissa and Joe, I love your new channel. You should think about using some sound in the opening slide of this channel of your chickens when you go out to check for eggs. I love all of your channels.
Looks good Joe! I do a shortcut at home when baking in the oven...I first poke them with fork and put in microwave for about 5 min. depending on your microwave ...and then put in the oven! I bet that would work for you when you put in the fire. Saves some time. Just an FYI.
Does he not have nerve endings?! Thanks for the video. I'm going to try this today along with rotisserie chicken, bacon friend green beans all on the fire.
Joe, I’m assuming it has something to do with the temperature at the tent this time of year, and stick butter not melting, but wondering if you still use canned butter? Is there a better time to can it or use it than other times?
Great video question Is Melissa going to put more of the Keto? Diet food on this channel My wife wanted me to ask. She's on the diet to she said if any more recipes come up to let her know. Thank you.
I am. I had several videos all recorded (I thought) and then when we played it back to edit I clicked the power button to turn the camera off on them instead of record...UGH! I had 3 I did that to! SOOOO it's back to the drawing board for me. I hope to get some done this weekend.
Your food always makes me hungry. Years ago we cooked on the fire like that when camping and simply sliced the potatoes about 5 times, then assembled it back together with a slice of onion between each piece before we wrapped in tinfoil
Rodney Wilhelm Its suppose to be a Melissa cooking channel nothing to do with Joe. Awhile back in a video Joe said Melissa was starting a cooking channel. Nothing was said about Joe & Melissa are going too. A sneaky way for Joe to build the channel. I want him to stay off it and see how far it goes.
@@mikeodonnell3390 why don't you give it a rest and did it say anything about it just being Melissa's channel. And if it upsets you so bad that you think you can tell someone what to do boy are you highly mistaken! They are a team and stop with the neanderthal bullshit dude! You want him to stay off, what a load of shit!!
Okay - dumb question I'm sure... but here it goes - Joe, do you always wear tennis shoes/sneakers? Seems like most northerners I've known mostly wear boots in the winter. And, most people that I know in the construction industry wear boots... But it always seems like you wear sneakers. It looked like you had them on with your snowshoes in your winter tent video... It's not a criticism, just curious! Great content Joe! keep up the good work!
I always wear my tennis shoes unless I am sitting on the deer stand or if my feet might get wet. If you keep your feet dry and wear double socks like I do, my feet never get cold. I am always moving around though also. Wearing tennis shoes is much lighter than wearing boots. If you think of the extra weight each time you pick up your foot, it adds up.
Yumy.......now try diced chunks & put onion & green pepper slivers.....now try that! They are awesome in the campfire or even in the oven! One more thing to try.....in your Potatoe salad.....mix the mustard & mayo in a sepa rate bowl ......add 2 Tablespoons cider vinegar & add 2-3 tablespoons of sugar; then add that to it a pinch of Dill weed( I like even half dill pickle & half sweet relish)..... Just saying.......Yummmmmm!
Maxamus Fire Like I said before, It’s a sneaky way to build up Melissa’s channel. He could have put it in the tent video that is coming out. Have a good day!!
It's all about clicks if your considering monetisation. 6.3k subscribers in 2 weeks? Thousands of RU-vidrs would be saying "I wish". Some channels I watch haven't got to 1 thousand in a couple of years and they put far more into making their videos than these. A lot longer too. Preaching to the converted here even if like many, we wonder where they put it all! I don't eat that much meat in a month but do have some rather smaller pork steaks in the freezer. You don't see them anywhere near that size in the UK.
Joe and Melissa are a team no matter the channel. I like the fact we get Joe recipes here as well as Melissa's. This is a very nice surprise and bonus coming from the Tent on the grill. Like a sneak preview of what is to come tomorrow. Keep the recipes coming guys! I do not want this channel shutdown behind those jokingly complaining. It is a miracle we get to hear from Melissa. So, be nice please.
@@astheroostercrows6435 The grass is green down here. I'll get to see snow this week. I have a load going to salt lake city. Gotta go through Denver. They just got 17 inches.
1st, WHO? And this is a joint channel and why do you care so much? Besides it's good for her fan base and we all know how ridiculous some fans can be, so more the merrier and Joe's channels are wanting to see Melissa. And they are a package deal!
This is Melissa, I'm still here. I've managed to mess up the videoing of my last few videos so they had to be deleted. I will be making something good real soon.
I apologise for your name being misspelled . Im not sure what happened. I know I spelled it correctly! I just chuckled when Joe spoke. I know this is new to you 😁. I praise you for having the guts to do it in the first place.
I was afraid that it would burn a whole through the aluminum foil if you didn't do it the old way, putting a rock inside the fire and set them on the rock. The Cherokee's, most tribes around TN, put a rock inside the fire, pit fire or fire place/ wood stove later on, and let them cook that way. Yours seem to do just fine that way, we are wanting to return to cooking on a woodstove, or pitfire, just to save on electric bill, on those items that it takes a long time to cook such as baked potatoes. A 220 stove running an hour and half runs up the electric bill if one does it very often.
Joe, looks good as always. What I do is put in microwave about 1-2 mins a side(poke first), but they are not done. Pour a bit of Olive Oil on them and place directly on the grill turning as needed. The outside if cooked long enough gets crunchy if you like that. I also have put in tinfoil using same method and they turn out more like yours. I just do the microwave for time constraint. I am from MN, but live in NC now, no where around here can you find pork steaks, are they just Boston Butt Roast cut into steaks??
I drink and cook up there all the time. Lol. Moral of the story is..... Check the potatoes often, if they cooked too long..... do not show them in the video. lol.
Joe, I hate to sound like a safety Sally , but you didn’t advise your viewers to wear gloves when reaching into the fire for potatoes. You know some potential Darwin Award winners might be watching. Love the channel.
Best way to have potatoes. Any style. Next, show everyone how to boil water in a styrofoam cup in the fire. (Yes, it can be done.) Great for teas, makes instant coffee a little better.
