Nice job. Came for the grill “review”. First one I clicked on. Stayed because of 305 and fisheating creek. Grew up in N. Miami, camped at the creek 2+ times a year with my dad on the primitive sites. He’d take my friends and I up there sometimes as well. Nothing like cooking breakfast over a fire, then jumping in a canoe and exploring the area. Then sitting back at night and roasting marshmallows over a fire. Thanks for bringing back the memories! I’m 561 now, but still 305 for life! 😃. Suavemente is a nice touch. 😉
Thanks Ian, I have many memories at that campsite taking my 2 sons. I'm sure they'll take their kids there too when they get older. It is definitely one of Florida's most beautiful campgrounds. Thanks for watching!!!
After watching you and Todd i just got a 22 inch Blackstone .first thing I cooked was a steak with walla Walla sweet onions .I surprised my wife because it turned out perfect !
Not kidding. This is a top notch video. The incredible scenery “water like glass“ and all the food, breakfast and dinner. Eggs, sausage bacon and steak etc. Your best video yet. I want you to cook for me.
I just ordered one of these for our 5th wheel with a 12’ quick disconnect hose to connect it to our rig. It’ll be the perfect partner for our RECTEC trailblazer pellet grill.
Thanks Craftsman673, check out the very first video I made on how to set it up and break it down. Also, I highly recommend using a level when setting up the stand and just give it a small pitch to the back where the grease drain is (I showed how to do this in my Sausage Gravy and Biscuits video). Makes a HUGE difference when cooking and cleaning. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
I was thinking 3 and 1/2 minutes aside into a tin foil pan on a rack on the side.. you had plenty enough room on the grill for the potatoes at the beginning with the steaks...yummy
Loved the change of plan option. Been there done that. Wonder why so many videos I watch always have the perfect temp\angle\measurement when I don't think life works like that. Thanks
I was under the impression that you could not close the lid while cooking? is this not true? I heard you could warp the lid. Let us know. Great video. Thanks!
LOL let me tell you the family next to me kept giving me looks like "feed me please". I'm pretty sure that guy went and bought a Blackstone after that weekend...
954 checkin in..Camped there for at least 20 yrs, been in that site, had hogs come thru about 8 years ago, hunt there often, but just a cool camp ground
Very cool mudhole9, must be in Broward. I live in Miami Lakes. I've been camping there for about the same amount of time. Place is super peaceful!!! Thanks for the comment and for watching!!!
Damn Big Cat this was so impressive! I was looking for tips to cook on my newly bought 17 in Blackstone. Then after watching your demonstration I wish I bought the 22 inch with the legs & hood. You cooked EVERYTHING I was looking to cook all the way down to the veggies. It was a must Like & Subscribe, Thank you sir! Taking my 17in out this weekend for a camping trip but ill be better prepared after watching this!
Awesome Steven!! Not sure what part of the country/world you are at but I hope it's cooler than Miami. Have fun on that 17" griddle and let me know how it turns out!!!
Great question. It's been a while since I've used the little tanks but if I remember correctly I would get 3 or 4 20-30 minute cooks out of them. The large tank is the way to go but for a camping trip, tailgating or whatever 1-2 bottle is fine and much easier to transport. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!!
Honestly I don't remember, I think maybe I got it at Ross. I'm a big Ross fan by the way, you can get some killer deals on cooking supplies there. Thanks for the comment!!
Walmart Black Friday has the 22" Blackstone on sale for $117. Just bought one and the exact same stand in this video. Goodbye Camp Stove and cast iron skillets.
I bought the Adventure ready 22" griddle last summer. The hose that comes with this does not work well with a 20lb tank. If you just turn it on like a normal grill it has almost no flame. I emailed customer support and they told me that this is a common problem and sent me an elaborate set of steps you have to do to get the griddle to work properly. They also offered me the option to purchase a different regulator hose for $30. The piece you need for this griddle to function properly is not sold with it and this is not covered in the warranty. The rest of the griddle is great, but that doesn't matter if it can't get warm. Save your money and get a different brand that works!
Hey Joe, thanks for the comment. I had the same issue to and was very frustrated. After many hose changes, tank changes I googled it (should have done that in the first place). I found that after you connect the hose to the tank and the griddle, you have to open the tank nozzle slowly. If you open it fast it shuts down the regulator. I have not had a problem since and I obviously use the Blackstone a lot. Hope this helps.
Webers had the same issue. Just hook it up, make sure the grill knobs are off, turn the tank on or fully open and then wait at least five minutes for the tank safety valve to reset and then light it up. When turning it off, turn the grill knobs off first, then the tank. Never fails on my webers or my 22 blackstone.
Not only beautiful scenery but also great video of all that good food! Pretty sure I will get one of those griddles but after watching another reviewer having quality problems with the stand and cover that came in the Walmart bundle, I was wondering if you purchased yours separately? Any issues with the stand or the cover?
Thanks Karin, I did get the bundle. The cover is really just good for keeping things from landing on your griddle when not using it. It is not really air tight so for cooking purposes it doesn't help much. The stand is also a little tricky to get used to. The legs extend and there is a nob with basically a flat threaded nut that squeezes against each leg that holds it in place. Trying to level it can be a challenge. I got mine level and just keep it out now so no problem anymore. Overall it has been an excellent griddle and I wouldn't not buy one for those minor things. Just my opinion. Good luck...
Thanks for the comment tommyv17, great question. I cooked breakfast (about 45 minutes), then the Steaks for dinner plus fries and onions and mushrooms (about another hour). Tank ran out about half way through around the hour and 15 minutes mark. So I would say an hour to an hour and 15 minutes. Hope this helps.
Which campground is this specifically? This looks amazing. I live and camp all over Michigan, but this looks like the Florida comparison to some Michigan pine trees! Also, when you're cooking such a large breakfast, how do you keep all your food warm? Looks like you're just using some foil. I've got the 36" at home, but just picked up the 22 for camping. It's a tad easier to keep things warm at home.
Great comment Brandon!!! It's Fish Eating Creek just West of Lake Okeechobee. It's a beautiful campground I've been going to for close to 20 years. Too keep the food warm usually in Tupperware or foil pans with aluminum foil on top. I like the foil pans because you can always throw them back onto the Blackstone to heat them up a little. Thanks for watching!!!
Great Job. I recently bought a 22 but after seasoning it warped quite a bit and is high in the middle. Also the right side of the grill is a lot hotter than the left side. Is that normal?
Thanks for the comment Phil. My 22" was higher in the middle than the sides as well. And hotter on the left side. I've probably cooked on a dozen Blackstones so far and they all have their little intricacies lol... You just need to figure out how to adjust which is part of the fun.
Does the bottom of this flat top get hot I would really like to convert warning these in to my motor home please comment back if the bottom get hot or not thank you very much for this video
Thanks Martin. This Blackstone is actually designed to sit on a table. It has 4 rubber peg feet about 2 inches in height on each corner. You can buy it by itself or as a kit with the stand that I have. Those 4 rubber feet just sit in 4 corresponding holes on the stand and you just lift it straight up to take it off the stand. I would say the bottom gets hot but if you utilize the rubber feet you should be good. Hope this helps.
Honestly I don't remember. I have seen them in a Restaurant Supply store by my house but I believe you can find them at Walmart/Target... Thanks for the comment!!!
Nothing at all sc gator, I've done that in the past and I love the taste. I was cooking for a good size crowd so I wanted to make sure the eggs looked clean. Thanks for the comment!!!
Just some rack I got at Ross I think. I get a lot of accessory type cooking items there for cheap. You just have to know what you are looking for... Thanks for the comment...
Actually a great question. Like a gas grill the lid is not very air tight so not great for cooking like an oven. However, great to keep insects away and to keep for warm. If I need to get that oven effect I will use a dome (sometimes in conjunction with a rack to prevent burning on the bottom of the food). Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!!!
I got it at Walmart in the Blackstone section. I don't remember the name but next time I'm at Walmart I'll check it out and reply again. It was around $10-$12 and it works great. Thanks for the comment!
whats the average number are you cooking for ? and how much time does it take to set up going to a park or beach including cook tools? do you need one of those little wagon to pull? and how many tanks of fuel you think you use during summer season? i know alot to ask thanks very good video
Thanks for the comment D. I usually cook for 2, sometimes 3 but I have cooked for 6 on this 22" Blackstone. I keep my cook tools in a tote so it's a pretty quick set up. Usually takes me about 5 minutes to set up the Blackstone (check out my very first video). A wagon would be excellent because the blackstone is heavy for 1 person. I don't use the little tanks anymore and 1 large propane lasts the summer easily. Thanks for watching!!!
Thanks brother, I believed I used 2 tanks for the trip. It's been a little while so I don't remember but you probably get about 45 minutes to an hour of cooking on one of those little tanks. Thanks for watching!!!
Thanks for stopping by Brett... I have the 28" as well and love the extra room, it really makes a big difference. It really all depends on how many people you cook for. It's usually just Mrs. Big Cat and myself so the 22 is fine but if I cooked for more on a regular basis I would step it up. Hope this helps...
I love grills and at home i wont use anything else. For camping/tailgating i am about through with grills. As much as i love them its too much cleaning for something portable that you use once or twice then store it until next time.
Hey VegasAbe, I haven't used them in a while but they last about an hour to hour and a half on medium. Most things don't take that long to cook on the Blackstone so they'll last longer than you think.
You can use any type, I usually use Canola oil because it has a high smoking point. However, I rarely cook anything above medium heat so you can use whatever works for you... Thanks for the question and for watching!!
What did I do without this for so long?2 pieces of French Toast at a time ?20 minutes for 10 pancakes ?NO MOREthis griddle is awesomeTook some time to season before first use ru-vid.comUgkxHM5jmQoi4dbb0hoWSBs9hPhSwXUbGVG_ did brunch and hibachi dinner on Mother’s Day and it worked like a charmSturdy, well built and heats up quick. burners2-4 were a little stubborn but then lit up.Great addition to my patio.Bought the cover and it’s great, also bought the accessories kit - scraper is good but the spatulas are flimsy to be honest that’s my only negative.
The small tanks last about an hour of cooking time roughly. Great for camping but at home go for the bigger tank for sure... Hope this helps and thanks for stopping by...
I've seen the grill/griddle combo but honestly I'm a charcoal guy myself for grilling. Obviously I love the griddle and use it all the time. But if you are a serious camper and would use it a lot it looks very cool... Good luck...
Either a dry wall knife or a paint scraper. My step father who turned me on to the Blackstone gave me one as a gift when I got mine last Christmas. Works great for cleaning.
Thanks for the comment FSU Stunna. I agree the legs are an issue. I have found that when setting it up it's best to pull the legs outwards before tightening. When the are bent inwards they wobble even after tightening. Hope this helps.
Good catch! I always season my potatoes when first cooking, just didn't get it in the video. You can see on one of my very first videos "Big Cat Breakfast" where I actually show it. Thanks for the comment!
@@cookingwithbigcat Cool, thanks, always trying to find new grilling ideas. Close to buying a Blackstone 22. Love charcoal while camping but tired of it losing heat.
