Ten years ago, Faker won his first Worlds. Seven years ago he won his third and most recent.
One year ago he lost a Worlds final and four months ago he stepped down from T1 due an arm injury.
He returned to save his floundering team, they qualified for Worlds and this weekend, they face JDG in the semi finals.
We’ve been here before but the question remains the same: can Faker actually go all the way?

If Faker wins worlds, and then takes the stage and announces his retirement, I wouldn't be mad. Faker has been a huge part of my league of legends lore. What a legendary character.

@@APMesina08 he could always retire.. he is the co owner of T1 anyway so he can do whatever he wants T1 has been hinting roster change and people are speculating that zeus or keria will leave but what if its actually faker who will leave by retiring? its not impossible considering faker got injured in the middle of season.... maybe he started thinking if he can still do it or he might become a problem for the team if he gets injured again

He won't retire. He just won Asian Games which removed the military service duty from him. He, Chovy, and Ruler can play for very long.

If Faker wins his 4th title. He could just sit back and relax the remainder of his contract. No other player will ever win 4 world titles. He doesn’t even have to improve. His presence alone is a rallying cry to his team. But we know Faker. He won’t sit back. He will continue to improve. When he retires in 2026, I hope it’s due to a 5th world title

Faker is not the villain. He's actually the hero this worlds. Being the last LCK team, in their hometown, with 3 LPL teams left. The villain arc was last year, with deft being the hero on his last dance and faker being the villain as the demon king in the finals.

People say faker 'fell off' but i disagree, i think hes actually a better player than old faker plus he has more responsibilities now. the reason why hes not as dominant as before is because there are more better players today. That shows how much ahead he was back then compared to everyone else and he has consistently stayed at the top for a very long time, you cant argue against that. Win worlds or not i have mad respect for people like Faker.

People downplay Faker's buff on his team. When you have someone in your team that you are confident can clean up after you even when you mess up, you can play at your 100%! Guma, Keria, Oner and Zeus can play at their best only because Faker's ability gives them the freedom to. How many "midlaners" or "shotcallers" in the league can do that to their teams? None. Faker's ability goes above shotcalls and insane plays. He is a living legend.

50/50 seems to be in the chance and it is very exciting. However T1's drafting is way better this year then last years draft and their forms have been super good so they will give JDG a run for their money. Cant wait for this sunday

Dont forget T1 Stomped LNG which in the summer playoff finals of the LPL was able to bring JDG to their hardest series...JDG also didnt look as convincing as they should've vs KT...Weibo is the only one im not comfortable favoring T1 in just because they havent played yet...For the JDG series tho??? As far as we can see from the LNG game...Oner is in form, Zeus is confident, Guma is consistent, Keria is playing like a top 2 support in the world, and Faker??? Well to put into perspective...I saw a comment on Caedrel's cover of the LNG vs T1 game someone pointed out the statistic of "In worlds 2023 Orianna has a 10-2 record vs Azir...those 2 losses were from Faker's Azir"

Well on paper it has to be JGD.. but slightly.. let's not forget that T1 destroyed LNG.. not only LNG but also BLG.. 2-0 destruction for BLG and 3-0 destruction for LNG.. that speaks something.. that's 2 of JDG toughest domestic rivals that got smoked.. 2 teams that can defeat JDG in a bo5 series.. and t1 defeat against GenG in swiss was a close one.. this is a very different T1 we are seeing and I'm not yet fanboying at this point.. just stating the obvious stats..

One thing about Faker's injury was that he was feeling it back at MSI. He played through the pain until he basically was forced to steb back to recover. And that 3-0 stomp was against who many thought had the best chance againsy JDG. I'm rooting for a T1 full stomp. They've got full World's buff going.

Ever since I heard about his injury, I've been imaging the last match for them at worlds, his pain starts acting up and he's playing through and has to get help right after the game. Additional stats for T1 vs LNG in case you don’t know them. This is just going off memory so they might be ever so slightly off. Across the 3-0, T1 got 12 drakes, all before 25 minutes in all 3 games, or at the very least I know LNG did not get a single objective, except for 1 herald, which didn’t even crash. It was more than a stomp. It was a demolition job.

T1 vs LNG was special because T1’s bot lane shifted the meta a bit. We saw Ashe and Senna in the support role. This is even more clear during the WBG vs BLG series where you could see the clear meta shift in the bot lane. T1 didn’t only stomp LNG back to their country, they shifted the meta.

I wouldn't say it's a kryptonite for T1 when GEN had countless rosters that build around Chovy just to specifically counter T1. But he is just incompetent at international stage where he's not supposedly losing the matchups throughout his career, this year is even more obvious when going against BLG, GEN is gatekeeping the whole LCK from giving a more competent team a chance to perform at Worlds

Not really. Based on what LPL analysts say, JDG had been on some tough spots going against blg and lng. If T1 continues this form, JDG is actually easier than you think

T1 looked miles ahead of LNG, a team that took JDG to 5 games, twice. T1 are a serious threat to JDG, and JDG's performance against KT doesn't give me confidence in them against T1. JDG need to play at 100% to make finals, assuming the T1 who clapped LNG is their opponent

I think its crazy how few people predicted jdg to win vs t1 in pickems, since many thought they were better going into worlds. I think its just because how much character this t1 roster has. You know every name, you know the champs they like to play, and all their faces. I dont know any of that for jdg even though i watched a lot of lpl in the summer split.

I think it could go either way but definitely not another 3-0. BLG lost first game in early red skirmish and second game was close. LNG jungler was t1 Tarzan and the blizcrank….oh hell nah! Top and Bot are so good on both sides so I bet it’ll be decided by Oner vs Kanavi unless we get a draft diff.

Without Kaisa and Zeri, Ruler is just your another average adc. Setting aside his experienced of course, Guma is on the same level as Ruler now. Two different playstyle, Ruler the calculated player and Guma the decisive player. Whatever style wins, its definitely up to the team mates who plays better. Missing cannot comprehend on Rulers indicisiveness, Missing for me was like Hylli talking in chinese. Missing most of the time was agressive but Ruler doesn't take that decisiveness which resulted to an LPL hylli move. Keria on the other hand, has the best of best saves as a support which can covers his adc decisiveness. You can see your adc flashing forward like Rekkless and still Keria is gonna save you even if he had that 1% chance of surviving.
