Yeah, I was looking around castform's moveset, I saw that it can learn psych up by a move tutor, maybe that could have be helpful? And not the Move Tutor that takes heart scales... one of the random tutors that teaches a specific move to a pokemon once. Aaannddd... nevermind. To get Psych Up on a Castform, you need access to the Battle Frontier...

It might have been a choice due to the lower PP.

@@alecity4877 If you use weather ball. If not, it's much harder. Castform's stats aren't even very awful. Trust me, I did this exact challenge, and it was easy af. No items in battle, and no weather ball.

@@jacencade4019 To give you insight, almost every _first_ form Pokemon makes an easy challenge in a Pokemon game since pretty much every Pokemon can learn Return, Double Team, and at least 1 other high-power TM (or even Protect, Substitute and Toxic), and the only thing MDB knows what to do is spam Double Team (which isn't a legitimate strategy). Second forms have higher base stat totals, making such runs far easier. The only second stage Pokemon that would be a challenge are stuff like Wobbuffet, Chansey, Kakuna and Metapod.

​@@koolaidman4869 You take solely relying on RNG to the extreme with using double team. (like using focus band Shedinja) At that point, it doesn't matter what your Pokemon's weaknesses are. If they can use will-o-wisp, toxic, or any relatively strong attacking move, alongside double team, then it's a few resets until you can get an easy win. Even if you are too weak to ohko mons, it doesn't matter, as you can just evade every single attack, and take your sweet time to KO them in however many hits, or PP stall their accurate moves. When competitive players depend on PP stall, they take taking damage into account by using substitute and a recovery move, as that is what Pokemon battling is about, taking damage, and dealing with it. Also, ideally, competitive players use math to think about how much damage their Pokemon (can afford to) take and how much is required to 1 hit KO their opponents. They do not abuse most forms of random number generation as they are not consistent methods to win multiple battles. Double team is not a strategy, it's an anti-strategy, as you just nullify the need for other stats except Speed -- yours and your opponents'. Also, it turns every turn into spinning a wheel and hoping your opponent does not kill you. Why do you think Smogon has banned the move?

You do not remember correctly, sun weakens water only, rain weakens fire. Hail and sand don't weaken or boost accuracy of anything unless the move explicitly says so.

Blizzard is less acurate not less poweful.

@@Aaron0000014 Hail boosts Blizzard accuracy making it always hit. Sandstorm increases the special defense of Rock type Pokemon by 50% since gen 4. So, those were incorrect

Thunder cannot miss in rain. Ice isn't weakened in sun, but Blizzard is 50% accuracy. Water is weakened though

MDB is good at Pokemon but I often finds he doesn't know a lot of smaller details that makes someone great. I still enjoy his content but it can be a bit annoying sometimes.

He doesn't properly scope out the game and know everything, as he severely screwed himself in that rival fight because he replaced water gun with rain dance before that. So, sure he doesn't know all the details. But it just adds to the challenge, and I'm good with that

Yea, even if he wanted to keep thunderbolt for the earlier fights, he could've simply replaced it for thunder right before fighting wallace. Sunny day + solar beam would've probably also been useful. He'd have had fire, grass and water coverage.

Giga drain isn't all that good till I believe gen 5, as before then its only base 60 power, not bad, but not great.

Thunder is only needed for Wallace; Thunderbolt and other TMs are fine for the other Elite 4 members. Using Solar beam was actually feasible. I know since I did this challenge, too.

For Steven, I won with Sunny Day, Protect, Fire blast and Blizzard. If Castform was at Lv 100, I would be able to wing it with a more mundane strategy.

@Shadow the RU-vidr, two reasons: 1- I just think it looks neat and I love the idea of a prehistoric artifact coming to life from Moon Magic™️, and 2- a good buddy of mine bred me one years ago for a trick room team, around gen 5 or so, and it worked really well for me; on top of that, it was around that time I discovered this (now defunct) Pokémon website called PokeProfiles, that did neat reviews of lesser used Pokémon and what move sets worked on them. The article for claydol was great and it made me appreciate what it can do more, so I’ve tried to use it as often as I’m able. Just a neat floaty eyeball dude

I beat oras with sandile easily, earthquake and crunch with stone edge/rock slide beat it really well. Thrash was also a strong finishing move for the last two Pokémon of each party. Finished the game at level 78.
