I wear a couple of Viet Nam Era Marine Dog Handler patches in memory of my brother that didn’t come back , along with his In Memory patch . I am not trying to represent myself as anything except honoring my brother who was killed 50yrs ago . He was 19yrs old and gave his life for his country .
I was wearing a few pins that my son sent me from Iraq when he was serving there. Someone at a bar called me out on it, but when I explained, they backed off.
I ride alone, no patches, sober. My three rules work for me. In my 70s, big bike, anywhere, everywhere, any time, any weather except ice. Never an issue, no BS. keep that stuff in your world. Been riding since 1982.
@@dreadsire5086 Depends on the MC. There are some 1%'ers out there that just wanna be dicks. They may not care but they'll try to assert their dominance. Also what you mean by "legit MC"? All MC's in their territories are approved and sponsored by the Dominant 1% MC, so they're all "legit".
In the words of Ron White, "I didn't know how many of them it would take to kick my ass. But I did know how many they were going to use." No idea why anybody but 1%er wear vests. Lettem havem unless you just wanna run around armed and looking for trouble.
The cross goes back to the German Teutonic Knights order started in 1192. It got into biker life with the returning soldiers of WW2 the founders of early motorcycle clubs as the pins were taken off fallen German infantry and brought back to the US.
US flag code states that when the US flag is displayed upside down it's a distress call. I'd fly mine upside down because our whole nation is in distress right now
Hey,,, yes our country is defiantly going through a lot of changes some really BAD &,,, not so good but,,, it seems like from American history for about 250 years ? Give or take we have had a few,,, hiccups from time to time but,, we have to hold our ground if we still want our freedoms so,, to help that out I think we should Remember +++ Pray to GOD first & foremost ❗️🇺🇸 ask HIM to help us to bring back to America & us to what HE intended for it so we can,,, continue & once that is done well,,, we will be where we’re supposed to be for me on my Vest I have a Patch in the back,, center says: Ride with GOD & small patch in front says: read the Bible scares the hell out of you. I’m thinking of getting a American flag,,, but,,, ? Yeah,, with everything that is & has been happening idk-? It’s so cR a Zy now until I remembered our history when this country was,,, young when the first settlers arrived & it was the 13 colonies so,,,, that’s the Flag I’m putting on my vest 👍😎 no,,, for me no upside down flag ❌
Interesting video, very informative. I actually pulled my vest out of the closet after watching to make sure I wasn't representing myself as something or someone who I am not. I'm proud of my country, I have an American flag on my chest over my heart with no other patches or pins above it. I'm a retired Navy Veteran (30 years service) I have a USN patch. I belong to HOG so obviously I have that patch. And like you I don't have all the rockers or pins but I do have a HOG mileage patch representing 100,000 miles. I've got way more miles than that but you know what I mean. I belong to one group, Society of Grey Beard Bikers with their patch and another patch that says "Do You Even Beard?' I've got the classic 'POW-MIA' patch. The Harley-Davidson #1 patch. My type bike patch Street Glide. I eat ice cream so I've got a round patch that says, 'Ride Motorcycles-Eat Ice Cream' with a picture of an ice cream cone in the center of it. Yeah, I've got 'Loud Pipes Save Lives' and a 'Back Off' patch of a skull wearing a bandana. And finally I've got my very personal nick-name patch 'Silver Fox' because I'm 71 years 'young' and my hair is silver! So...all that being said...I think I'm good! Enjoy the ride and ride safe!
When I was 17 some hells angles chased me across the beach for the band patch I had on my punk jacket, I spoke to them briefly until they started threatening me and one pulled a knife, safe to say it’s the fastest I’ve ever ran in my life. Managed to climb the hill next to the beach and get away but boy was I shitting it. I spent like an hour hiding up a tree before running home lol
@@koolaidacidkilla179 hahaha they wouldn’t dare lol. Still one of my all time favourites. No one has the cajones to laugh at themselves enough to make movies like that anymore, damn shame too. We could all use a good laugh at our own expense sometimes to balance things out.
in the right world you should be able to wear whatever you want as long as its not a club name or logo that you dont belong to. by that i also mean police, fire, military ect..
13 is considered bad luck (especially Friday the 13th) because on the morning of Friday, October 13, 1307, 600 knights of the Knights Templars were arrested by King Philip IV of France. Their property and wealth was confiscated, they confessed crimes under torture and most were executed or imprisoned. They were so powerful and their downfall was so astonishing that 13 remains “bad luck” to this day.
@@jonsmith3901 At 7:23 the video poster says “I don’t know why the number 13 is bad luck...” My comment was an answer to that question. A review of the historicity and significance of the number 13 (especially Friday the 13th), why its considered “bad luck” and was perfectly appropriate in response to the video. Maybe you should learn to listen, it’ll keep you from posting replies that make you look like a schmuck.
Wow, the internet one of these days is going to be almost entirely a bunch of arguments between one side that knows something and another side who didn’t get hugs when they were growing up. Then the web 1%ers will be the badasses who think before they say shit! 😆
So far for me, you have covered the clearest discussion on what not to put on your vest if you are planning on buying one on Amazon, eBay, or Wish thanks for the heads up.
Good advise Itchy . I was in a club once retired on good terms , but i seen times when somebody didnt even get a warning to not wear their patch before shit hit the fan
I've got friends in various clubs and all their stories remind me of the Ron White joke: "I don't know how many of them it would've taken to kick my butt, however I knew how many they were gonna use"
"These are my church clothes" patch has a greater meaning than was mentioned here. Many 1% clubs refer to attending their club meetings as going to "church" and some members MAY take offense if you're wearing that patch and aren't a club member. It'll probably depend somewhat upon a combination of your attitude and theirs at the moment. A little respect goes a long way toward keeping the peace.
Or put in another way a lot of insecure people trying to fit in somewhere. The generic "tell them that to their face response" is expected but gang members lack what is taken for granted in normal society so they join a gang to compensate for what is missing.
The badge I have on my cut that gets the most love and comments is "BEER IS FOOD". I wear it on my right side under my pocket. Always a pleaser when having a stopover for a burger and a beer while out on a ride.
Iv been riding since 1979 and in the early days would wear a cut down. Back in the day I lived in the east end of London and would frequent pubs and venues where ther was a heavy presence of an infamous mc club. I never had any drama with my cut as they call it now. Im a muso at heart and 90% of my patches reflected the music I would listen to. I did have a few patches of places I'd been. All my patches were about me and not pretending to be anyone other than a guy who liked music and motorcycles.
I've got quite a lot of patches, flags and pins. But they're all from places, countries or rallies I've been to. Often gets a "How was that, I've been thinking of goin" or "hey, I was there too" :) My vest only represents me, nothing else. Thanks for the video.
I'm part of a big local music scene community (hardcore punk) that looks out for each other and have done lots of fundraisers. We lost a friend in a hit and run, he helped out alot with our little community. So one of my buddies made t-shirts for anyone who went to benefit show. Couple biker friends turned them into patches for their vests, was cool to see.
I was a member of IRON MAIDEN MCC. South Africa for 20 years, and when I left, I was forced to hand back my Back patch. I asked if I could keep it as a keep sake, but I will never wear it. As a member you have to earn it. It basically took 2 years to earn my patch, and you have to keep earning it to keep it, and our club was quite relaxed, others are NOT!
Years previous, I was called a 'poser' for an obscure military patch that has nothing to do with motorcycle culture. Currently, I have nothing on my vest. I have very little time for posturing individuals trying to gain something from 'teaching me a lesson'.
Flying a flag upside down does not make you unpatriotic! Flying the flag upside down is a universal sign of the distress, in America is definitely in distress
I've got my eagle, globe and anchor and a flag on my vest and that's it. I bought my first bike from a fellow marine I met in a bar when I noticed his EGA on his vest. I always like running into other marines that ride or are interested in riding
I was in a club and didn’t want to get a new vest after I removed the patches. So I got a DILLIGAF top rocker, a big cross in the center, and a “no club” bottom rocker just to cover up the holes. Never had an issue.
My Grandfather was in the 8th air force during world War 2 was shot down over Germany and POW for 6 months. He passed in 2018. My Great uncle was a bombardier in the 9th air force and was killed in action over Germany. What's your thoughts on wearing the 8th and 9th air force patch along with a pow patch. In honor of my family who has served.
Good information and things like that I've always want to put the in memory of whoever but I kept thinking that its a 1% MC thing only I lost my great grandfather in June close to July of this year and I lost both of my great grandmas ( both died a week apart 4 years ago my great grandfathers wife and my grandfathers mother I never know her cause we don't see her till 2 years before she died but heard stories about her ) thanks for showing that after a year and a few other of things that I didn't know about like the ones you are ok to wear those patches thats cool thanks about that
One of my patches says I Googled my symptoms turns out I just need to go riding. The other one says I'm sick and tired of this government telling me how to live my life. I've always gone by only where what you can back up. Keep the shiny side up
Remember that the patches are a way to show who you are. I had someone who didn't ride ask me if we are trying to show our individuality, why do we all wear the same patches? There must be a "biker patch starter pack". I've also been told by a police officer (I spent 18 years in emergency services) that trying to act and look tough, could tend to change the way they (police) will deal with you an emergency situation. Think about these things.
RIGHT ON! Thank you for making this content specific video. Too many people out there not giving two sh*** what they put on their leathers. You ask them if they looked into certain patches first and they shrug. K... I will be shrugging when your disregarding ignorance is "informed".
I have nothing on the back wanna get a small Sweden flag 🇸🇪 patch to put at the top back on my leather vest. I have few patches on front from video games actually I made sure before I put them on though but is all cool
Ed big daddy Roth creator of Rat Fink used a lot of iron crosses during the sixties, there was a big cross over with custom culture , surfing and hotrods. He even made a plastic german ww2 helmet you could buy. Ed Roth had lots of tongue in cheek patches in diamond shape Theres one that says 69%er.
I just have two small patches on my vest. One is a three inch Harley bar & shield, and the other says "Bitch, I'm from Cleveland". Saw you on rt. 42 a while back, take care of that wonderful wife you are blessed with. Strick.......
One question people ask is if it's okay for a non biker to wear a plain denim vest. I'm not a rider but I have this hoodie that is attached to a denim vest amd some guys give me dirty glares when I wear it.
Cool vid, your garage is tight man!! I wouldn’t wear any patches but when you put it in the context of “stolen valor” (wearing a military uniform and never served) it really makes sense!!
I was told, fifty + years ago, that the 1% was a guy who was a hustler for the club. He didn't have a job and didn't pay taxes. He was the guy who could "get" things. He might have done somebody else's time. Patches, tattoos, as well as helmet stickers, trinkets and paint, can identify a participant in many other unmentionable activities. The soldiers coming back from WWll confiscated mementos from the krauts. Iron Crosses, buttons, helmets, jewelry, patches, etc. They got traded and passed down through the years.
You are not what you ware, but those who need to have families often find comfort and pride in belonging to an organization, that can be sacred and Nobel. Brotherhood is sacred and has always been so, since the begining of time.
Have you ever seen a 99 %er patch? I don’t have a vest but I do have a cigar box full of patches, mostly military either worn or traded for in a combat zone there are some LOE patches also so as a veteran I would wear those patches because that’s part of my history correct?
Never had an issue with my rockers. But then again it says “United States Marine Corps” so there is that. 😁 The only time someone said something it was just a simple misunderstanding. I have a 1st division symbol that is a 1 in a diamond and thought it was a fake 1% thing. I straightened them out real quick.
All Gentlemen’s Club fallow roughly the same rules regarding freedom of Dress Code. “Wear what you want when you want. It is what it is. But if you walk into the wrong hood wearing the wrong what you want...you gone get something you don’t want the way someone else wants it and it’s gonna be right now.”
can i have a top and bottom rocker that says harley davidson with a multi cross in center no territory patch on it no mc patch no other patches i buld my own harleys and just like the patches i ride solo ect let me know thanks
Sound sensable advice. I dont wear many badges, because, after 55yrs riding if I wore all the pins and badges that have collected, I would have to be lifted on to the bike. I stuck them on a display board in the workshop.
The very first heavy rock band I got into was a UK band called Motorhead.. It was seeing their early vids showing big motorcycles that got me into bikes.. I love the bands logo and have this logo on a old denim cut/vest with the top rocker being the bands name 'Motorhead' but I didn't add the bottom rocker that said 'England' because I felt like it looked to much like a clubs cut. How do you think a club would react to it? I would love to remove it and put it on my new denim cut but with a good few more band patches covering the back of the cut.. like Deep Purple, Black Sabbath ect. The front of my cut as a number of pins.
All of the "old schools" AKA Greybeards I knew always had a 13 and a half, rather than JUST a 13. THAT patch stood for 12 jurors, 1 judge and a HALF*SS CHANCE. I BELIEVE that when the founding fathers that originally STARTED the motorcycle gangs in the 50's and 60's wore the 13 had something to do with the fact there's 13 rings in an actual hangman's noose. (which was rumored to stand for 12 jurors/1 judge tho SOME say they stood for for the original 13 colonies.) I was told this from by Father, was Road Captain for the Saints mc after the war and before retiring in the 80's, may he R.I.P. Thomas "Wolf" Cunningham, Greatest man I ever knew! Later on came the represention of the letter "M", and depending on WHERE your from could mean what itchmoche said or just that the person liked to partake in those particular festivities, lol.
I'm a bad enough rider so I will probably fall down all by myself, so I really don't need any 13 or 💀 on my bike. I think I'll get a teddy bear or s Coors patch😃. Thanks for the advice brother, keep the shiney side up.
I'm not a rider myself but grew up with quite a few. Some of their lessons still stick. Patches: 1. A unit you served with in the military. 2. The make of the bike you're riding. 3. The logo of an organization you're a member of in good standing. 4. Anything you are, and can prove you are; NOT something you want to be. 5. If you're a free rider, they make 'No Club' and 'Free Rider' patches that don't conflict with major clubs. 6. NEVER claim to be something you are not. I literally knew a guy who claimed to a member of a fake club. When the locals found out about it, they kicked his ass and had 'Punk Bitch' tattooed on his chest. When in doubt, wear a clean vest. The ass kicking you save will be your own.
What if I wear a battle vest from metal and punk shoes I go to? The back is a big Ramones logo with a Motörhead iron cross above it. Would I get pressed for that? No rockers unless you count the big RAMONES at the top and of course no territory or bottom rocker at all and no mc patch on the front though there’s a curved cursive California patch but it’s just written like it is on a license plate and it’s not positioned like a club rank or anything
I’m a UBC member specifically Chicago Local 13 would it be alright to be a able to wear A rocker of my union (LOCAL 13) With the united brotherhood of Carpenters and joiners of America logo?
Good information for those who don't know. I hear a lot of young folks saying "I wear what I want" and yes you can. You can ware a Hells Angels patch and rocker they sell them on E-Bay. However, I pity you if they catch you in it.. I don't ware anything on my jacket because I don't care what others think of me or what I like or don't but it's fine if you do. No judgement. Peace Itchy. Hi Vee miss seeing you.
Make you 100% right itchy I am in a Brotherhood done my prospecting I earned my patch will my colours with pride love and respect to you and your good lady Paul South East London
The most patriotic ppl wear the flag upsidedown. It's a historical symbol of expression. You feel the country is headed in the wrong direction and is in trouble.
The Iron Cross has MANY meanings WELL predating the Germans introduction of it in * 1813* . Celts, French, Goths all had them in the medieval period. and one of the most over looked was the Crusader Knights for the Catholic church. the idea that it is a symbol of hate cause of a mid 1930s dictator is just annoying as all *F* to me.
I don't Ride in a Club , But I do wear patches. On my jacket I have a large Bar and Shield HD logo . Nothing else on the back of it and the front I have a small HD logo and 2 hard rock Cafe pins one from Edinbrugh and one from Pattaya. The reason for the HD patch is cos I managed to eventually buy a HD motorcycle completely custom ( dream come true for me and very proud of it ). As for my vest I have a lot of Flag patches on them of places I have travelled to in my life. The vest is valuable to me and me only cos if I have not been to a place the patch doesn't go on. Not all of them are flags but will state their a place of the Country I had been to.
Like the RV ( recreational vehicles) people display all the states they have been to. & People bring me back H-D t shirts from there Vacation I don’t wear them but to work in .
I have a question, I can't figure out how to post a picture, one of my old friends started riding and his girlfriend ended up buying him some patches, all Harley patches, nothing about a club or territory of any sort at all, but it's a 3 piece, Harley Davidson top, Harley owner was group skull in the middle and motorcycles on the bottom, he's just trying to find out cause he doesn't wanna disrespect anyone or cause any problems or anything, like I said I can't figure out how to send a picture of what it would look like
I have a rockabilly band denim jacket with a quote on quote top and bottom rocker with logo in the middle (all of it is completely painted on the jacket) Top rocker says “the Delta” bottom rocker says “bombers” with a skull logo. Is that an issue? I don’t even ride I just ask out of curiosity
Itchymoche, I saw a patch I like, it’s a skull on a Canadian Flag that says Live Free or Die in ribbons above and below the skull. I do believe in the F.T.W. acronym. Continued prayers for Vee n You.
