The Griggs fight was brutal. After magic failed he desperately tried to fend him off with a sword only for it to BOUNCE OFF of Andre's titanite chest. Andre, unfazed, proceeds to break his skull.
Dropkicks are hilarious! Thats 70% of why I love Dying Light 1. You can dropkick zombies for several feet even kick them flying off rooftops! Doing it with a friend is an experience full of hard laughter and fun.
If andre was just a little bit more aggressive and had the reflexes players have to avoid damage I don't think anyone would even have a chance against him.
@@CallMeMimi27 At the same time he already attacks way too fast for how much poise damage he deals. It's like his moveset is designed just to troll evil players.
Love how in the first round with siegmeyer Andre got folded then round 2 he did not stop attacking like he remembered the first round like "no way I just lose to a fucking onion"
Lautrec was a tragic figure in my run. We saved each other, we fought together against the Gaping Dragon. He was a friend. But his mission put him in opposition to mine, and so regrettably for the good of Firelink I had to put him down, though I took no pleasure in killing a man with whom I had shed blood.
i personally dislike the refight they shoulda just given it to him he already beat everyone and people like patches didn’t get a refight even though they could have beaten him.
Man, that drop kick is the GOAT attack. Huge damage, very little wind up or space needed, comes at you lighting fast and knocks back, even if they're blocking. I so wish they would have added something like "Blacksmith's Gloves" as a weapon that gives you Andre's moveset.
Logan: "I am the most powerful sorcerer in Lordran, old man!" Andre: "What kind of idiot brings spells to a fistfight?" *proceeds to punch him into DS3*
Let's not forget that there are quite the few options for close ranged fights for a mage. Crystal weapon, White Dragon Breath, Homing Crystal Soulmass (and all of these are in Logan's possession)
@@trielt1 Not with the proper rings, which technically, lore wise, he should own. But apart from this, White Dragon Breath is for sure not a long range cast, since it has shitty range. You could say it can be used in middle range, but the slow travel speed of the cast together with the fact that it has 0 tracking and a pretty small hitbox make it really easy to kite and evade. Close range is where it's most viable, assuming you can shorten the cast time.
@@federicobellavista634 I'm genuinely confused here. Which DS1 rings reduce cast time? I'm aware that DEX can increase casting speed, but I don't remember any rings that do that. I personally see WDB as a PVE mid-to-long range spell. It has roughly the reach and damage of a Soul Spear, but 5 times the uses (or over twice the uses for half the slots). But it takes a *long* time to cast.
I definitely think Patches could've won if he actually tried after the first few seconds. The dude took off half of Andre's health straight away and his shield was even capable of withstanding his attacks (not sure about the dropkick, though). It's a shame his AI went into full-on passive mode after that. If he attacked at 4:17 instead of running straight at Andre like an idiot, he would've taken the win for sure.
"You lot may 'ave weapons n' spells, but these muscle aren't just for show." -Andre of Astora, shortly before starting a fight and promptly drop kicking his opponent
I was always sad dark souls one didn’t have learnable unarmed moves similar to andre’s drop kick. Kinda like how you can learn the ranger takedown from Andy in new vegas for helping him
@@Rosielx In darksouls 1 and 2 there is actually 3 different onion knights Siegmeyer, Sieglinde, & Siegward of Catarina two of them die sadly. However you can make their deaths mean something with your actions by helping them.
Andre's physics are so strange in this Dark Souls world. Definately seems like he was designed for some wrestling game project that was abandoned and then repurposed here
Andre was meant to serve a much different role in the game before he was turned into the weapon smith, If you notice, he's the only character in the game who moves his mouth while talking, that's no oversight. He was meant to be the guy the whole story was centered around, and the one who'd help guide you in the story WAY early in development. However he's role kept shrinking more and more until eventually he was barely the same character. The statues that look like him are another asset that was created and reused in the final game.
@@uberbyte7467Apparently something similar happened to Priscilla, hence she's the only boss with dialogue besides Gwyndolin. In the game's files, she is called "Heroine". Presumably her "Lifehunter" ability was intended to be used as the levelling up mechanic, as she can consume souls, which are lifeforce. Clearly this role was absorbed into the bonfire's functions. It is interesting that they compromised the two ideas for Elden Ring, by having Melina appear at Sites of Grace to upgrade the player.
@@Jupiter__001_ to add to this; according to the game director, the painted world was the first area ever made for dark souls, but they didn't know where to fit it into the world, but wanted to keep it, the phalanx enemy that is from the center of the area is also taken from demon's souls, depsite being redisned, they function very smilairly between games.
@@uberbyte7467 Cool. I think it worked pretty well, since it (the phalanx) looks like people who have been smeared together due to the degradation of the painting. The crow people also look like they are people who have been smudged and overlapped with a crow over the centuries.
@@Jupiter__001_They really took the best of their past games and threw it into the ring. Did you like having a waifu that increases your body level? Take it. Don't you like returning to base every time you level up? Now your waifu travels with you. And they also brought back the dual weapon mechanic. I really wanted to have it in Dark Souls 3, I love holding weapons in both hands. Also, that soap thing was really funny. The only bad thing was the almost identical dungeons and repetitive bosses. And also the water dance of Maleniya. This looks fine for Sekiro, but for Ellen Ring's roll mechanic it's a strange decision(And in order to dodge, you need to feel that she wants to start the animation and escape in time. Or take advantage of the auto-aim vulnerability and run around her
Everyone's talking about how Andre just bullies everyone in this event with his hands, no one even mentions that giant crow NOPE's off like "Yeah, I'm not doing this mang."
You're not wrong, I decided to try this myself and patches wins 40% of the time while Logan is a bit more complicated, pre dukes archive he only won 20% of the time while post archives I decided to test more thoroughly since he won the first 10 fights. Out of 65 fights Andre won twice.
@@AutistikWaldo I feel Lautrec didn't get a fair fight here too. Maybe out of 10 fights he'd win more or maybe if here were given a larger arena instead
Being Petrus is pretty much a constant stream of embarrassment. We know he obviously can't win but I would wager he wouldn't even be able to bring any NPC to half-health.
My favorite is Andre against Ingward. Dude just walks up to him, tanks through a spell and beats the tar outta him. Granted, that's every fight against spellcasters, but I feel like it really shines in that one.
man it becomes really obvious when you see him fight that Andre is NOT a standard NPC like the others. he has a custom moddle and moveset that makes him more like an enemy type than a player character.
interestingly enough if you use a enemy randomizer he appears in the spawn pool as an enemy so he is programmed to be an enemy but he is set to a idle pose like the giant smith but becomes an enemy spawn when attacked
@@coolpenguin5355 In the early stages that was true, but they appear to have changed their minds on it early on in development. I think it was from an art book and or interview that the info comes from.
You done Siegmeyer dirty, he deserves a rematch! They had a stalemate, so as far as I'm concerned Siegmeyer is the only one he hasn't beaten yet. Onionbros 4 life 🌰
