Yeah it's the major downside. I'm considering producing a more affordable version. The company apparently patented their "spinal canal" in the wheel, but I wonder how necessary it is.
Hey Hampton! Still following your content since ifunny😁 calesthenics changed my entire life, I'm schizophrenic and I was getting to the point of ending it, and your little tips to just be healthier and happier for me got me wanting to change my lifestyle in a positive way! And I went from staying in bed 7 days a week to working out every second of every day, no matter where I am. I came back to update at 10 pullups and yesterday I finally did my first real muscle up! Currently also working on other calesthenics exercises but I owe it all to you, now I'm the one spreading kindness and people come to me for guidance, I love you man❤ you are who I aspire to be like
Former medical massage therapist here. I can't speak highly enough of the proper nuance and caution you use when you speak about health and therapeutic methods! I'd agree entirely with your assessment of these. Any self-massage/rolling type of tool stands to offer some benefit to most people, but it's possible to use them poorly, benefits will vary by someone's lifestyle, and price doesn't always align with the usefulness. These things are very individual choices, and I love that you present your opinions very subjectively without making broad declarations about the general population. Great work as always. I encourage anyone curious about rolling tools to start with a dirt cheap simple foam roller and experiment from there and get a feel for whether the method suits you in the first place, then consider upgrading to fancy gear like these wheels if you want.
I discovered this through your channel. Using these to roll over gluts and low back is wonderful. Relieves tension and area feels more relaxed and open.
I've had the 3 set for years, it's helpful, but expect pain after a couple days while your body gets used to it. That part scares some folks, and made me hold off using at points in the past. Definitely helpful, wait for high discount deals for the sets (mine came with an acupressure pillow/mat set).
Was given a 3 set by an old roommate a few years back ( some how he got 2 sets when he ordered one) and I’ve used it religiously since. Haven’t had it this or most of last due to a move and haven’t had a chance to get them sent or go back to get them but I’ve noticed a huge difference in my Lower back pains from not having them. Being a taller man ( 6’6) this was everything for my back and overall mobility. Chiropractors, massages, PT, all are nice and will work more for others but this.. this thing was amazing. If you have the money I’d recommend getting them. The medium sized one was my every day use. Mornings, afternoons, nights. Didn’t matter. I used it before my morning coffee and I would usually notice a difference in my outlook on the day v not having it. Also- love the content- even if this was sponsored, I have faith you’d tell it exactly as it is. 🙏🏼
I always Love and welcome Hamptons “ Have a Beautiful Day” such a genuine and simple true expression coming from him. What’s the difference in effects between foam rollers and chirp wheel?
They appear to be very similar in purpose. Chirp wheels are more narrow so the feeling is usually more intense. And it's designed for use along your spine, I guess.
I made one out of 2 3lb metal coffee cans with the bottoms taped together and wrapped in a towel decades ago. I LOVED it for my back issues. Now they’re everywhere!! I bought a dense foam one for .99¢ from ARC the other day. It’s great for walk squats too. 🥰
Hey Hampton, thank you for all of your content! It has really helped me with my fitness goals! I was wondering if you could make a video on rope climbing and how to progress to it. It seems it would be a really effective calisthenics movement.
I have a set of three of these. They’re fantastic. I really love how it doesn’t put any pressure on your spine but also allows you to really get to the muscles surrounding the spine. Definitely recommend, despite the price
Don't mean to degrade the product's R&D, but if I were to make a cost effective diy version of this, I'd take a sample 12inch diameter water pipe (found in junk shops) and cut to size then line it with an extended mouse/deskpad. Pretty cool product ngl, and I'm sure they as a company have other costs to cover (R&D, marketing, logistics, and manufacturing)
Part of the cost is the patented "spinal canal" I think. Otherwise more people would make knockoff/cheaper versions of this. I'm going to try a yoga wheel and see if it's comparable.
Unsponsored reviews are more likely to get an honest opinion. I’m glad you’re reviewing this without being pressured by the company in giving a good review. Thank you
i have these and you gotta be careful. if you don’t perfectly center yourself on it and make sure it’s not crooked before you put your weight on it, it can fall over and you fall on your back on the rims. it’s painful, i’ve done it before.
True, I do it on a yoga mat so that helps keep it in place more, and I keep my hands close to the wheel at all times so that doesn't happen. Cuz yeah not fun....
I bought this for my mom, she really likes it. She has back issues, and I wanted to get her something that she could use in-between her chiropractor appointments.
yea, on foam roller you rolling and on this you can do great mobility for your chest exercise, they are a lot of examples when you search for yoga wheel, and boi, they are hard too :D its great for opening chest for all who work on desk, its just doing all that bending to orher side work :) also i prefer bigger one ^^
I've used both and the major difference for me is the groove in the center of the Chirp. The groove allows for the spine to not feel as much pressure and instead gets focused on the muscles along the spine. I liked the Chirp a lot better than a normal solid foam roller. The price difference was worth it for me. It feels premium and I can tell some engineering went into making it.
They're way more effective for me if I use them, then sit cross legged and breathe in then let it out as I twist (like chiropractors make you do lol). The wheel loosens things up a LOT so what would normally get 1-3 pops sounds like popcorn. The ads are definitely foleyed in post, but it CAN sound like the ads if you do the combo technique lol
A lot of people are having problems with back pain. It is so common in the world. The reason is because they lean their body to the front too much when they are doing planking. Just remember to keep the body straight or a little elevated backward when doing planks. Planks are the reason why people who workout a lot have pinched nerve on their backs because of the wrong positioning. I do planks everyday but I never had back pain.
Man I been watching your videos for a long time and I start doing exercises you are one of the people I watch to know what kind of exercise I c start making and my back has been hurting more than usual so I appreciate this kind of videos keep it up
If you are on the fence try waiting for Black Friday - I got a full set for $50. I’m at my computer desk for 8 hours a day and this is so nice when I’ve been slouching
Been using mine for about a year and I really like it. Wish I would have waited around for a discount and got a set so I could try out different sizes but I just have the largest size and it works well. I often see other brands for cheap without the groove in the middle, and wonder if those would work almost as well too for those concerned with budget
For those that don’t know, you can use your HSA card to purchase these. I just got a 4 pack of the standard ones last week and I like it much better than a foam roller
I have these- the 6" and 10". My back was always so tight, and I couldn't crack it by myself anymore. Using these once a day has helped me so much. They are expensive though.
@@eatmystars what? Here in my shitty 3rd world country we're paying somewhere along $60-70 / visit, oh and on top of that, our colleges do not teach that profession. Welcome to Costa Rica
Totally unrelated, but I remember in your earlier video you mentioned you were the sole caretaker for your mother. Without divulging too much personal info about your struggle (for your privacy's sake), what could you say helped you get through it and keep the strength to keep helping and stay mentally stable? I'm in similar situation and its very difficult. I love you videos and they've helped me a lot. Thank you.
My rhomboids get inflamed. This specific wheel has a divot in the middle that my spine can go in and the sides put more pressure on my rhomboids. Allowing me to stretch it better. Definitely worth every penny for me.
Thank you for reviewing this product. I was interested in this but wasn’t sure what to do. I am a subscriber and value your opinion greatly. Btw, congratulations on your marriage💝💝
I use mine to warm up my back before doing the bridge. I used to get back pain sometimes after doing the bridge but I don’t get that anymore since warming up my back properly👌
Great vid! I say get it for extra angle control. Check my patented interchangeable foam roller side wheel! It offers new height control for foam rollers plus you can grab hand grips on the wheels for extra control on stretches. It’s an invention that shoulda been around decades ago. Keep your foam roller clean on any surface outdoors / adds non slip tread and better stability. So many advantages. It even makes tread roll slower and extends length of back stretch by double start to finish based on physics of larger wheel on smaller diameter roller. Prevents shirt from getting caught under. Plus offers full body training and band mounts. I’d be down to send you 1 to review. Been tryin to license 4 yrs and every brand refuses it so I started making kits to sell online. The wheels are really good quality. Super durable. Thanks
I got the 12” chirp wheel and at first it was pretty painful but after a month of use I pop my back in one go. I need to get a smaller one now because I’m used to the big one 😂
try a peanut; two lacrosse/tennis balls taped together, roughly same thing for extremely cheap, works better too for soft tissue mobilization. Common PT tool
