Steven and I were sent to recover a Chevrolet Tahoe, Trailer and Tractor that went over a 30ft embankment. Using Floki and a Rollback we were able to recover the unit with no further damage done!!

That was brutal to watch. That truck is waaaaay too nice, big, and expensive for your skill set. It would have been cheaper for the customer to fly me from the west coast and be done with it.... 10 minutes TOPS for the truck and trailer. It'd be smooth, fast, efficient, and zero additional damage. You had two trucks on site omg. My old boss had a poster that read, "stupid people aren't annoying, they're free entertainment." So with that mindset I subscribed to simply watch what other blunders you perform while getting paid to do so.

The owner of the truck and trailer is lucky if he would have had it on a highway and wrecked he'd be paying tickets for not securing the tractor properly, you don't use ratchet straps for heavy loads, chains and binders.

Nice video! -So, I'm just curious! I am by no means an expert outside internet and my intention is not to pretend to be an internet-expert. However, to me it just looked liked it would have made more sense pulling from the upside rather than the way it was done in the video. Talking about the main pull (and still snatch blocked from a tree of course). Also by European standards I wouldn't have trusted the trailer to hold the sideways pull. But I guess ours are much simpler.

Synthetic isn't necessarily ideal for running through the woods but a little bit of brush won't really hurt it I don't think, Of course you have to redirect past bigger trees and such but you have to do that with cable too otherwise you'll damage the other trees and put weird stressed on the cable, But for smaller brush personally id just cut or pull it away but if the rope touches it it's not the end of the world. For this situation, the rope would have done fine. And honestly for rope, yeah if you run it against sharp edges and such it will cut it, but if we are being honest a lot of the things that damage rope would also reduce the load limit of a cable if you ran it against the same thing, only difference is rope will sustain permanent damage and cable might be able to recover from it depending on what it was, but also might sustain permanent damage as well, Like if you ran it over the edge of a rollback, It would definitely damage rope, But it would also reduce the load limit of cable too and would probably do so permanently causing kinking and maybe frayed cable strands, So you do have to baby rope more but steel cable will be negatively affected by a lot of the same stuff, just not to the same extent, A lot of guys I've seen shit on the rope but go and destroy their steel cables doing the same stuff they shit on the rope for not being able to do, where being a guy who has used both I wouldn't do some of that stuff with either cable or rope. The block you guys used against the trailer and the cable is a perfect example, Something like that could very well fuck up a rope but it can also reduce the limits of steel, and shortly after that you mentioned what I gave the example for, the edge of the bed, both would mess up rope but also reduce steel load limits during the recovery.
@MercifulTowing
@MercifulTowing Год назад
I agree, so we actually use synthetic on our off road recovery truck as well as all of our rollbacks cary 100ft. of synthetic as extension cable. I 100% trust in synthtic rope and on a heavy wrecker I think I wouldn't mind using it. But for every day use on a bed... Im still very leary about using it. Bed vs wrecker on a bed the rope lays on the bed all the time gets drug against it and such and I just feel wire is better. We believe firmly in synethtic rigging though, I absolutley love using rim slings and endless loops vs chain. I just cant bring myself to putting synthetic on my beds for the guys to use.. I feel like it would create issues as wire can take more of a beating.
@towtruckaj
@towtruckaj Год назад
@@MercifulTowing interesting take, I run in on my rollback as do many of the other rotation companies in my area, I love it and won’t be going back, one of the big benefits for me is I can upsize and put more on the spool than if I had steel, with steel I can do 100 feet max of 3/8 with rope i upsized to 7/16 and on my bed and sidepuller I have 150 feet of rope, now I don’t have a medium duty wrecker yet but when I get one I’ve been questioning whether or not I’d put rope on it because personally I’d think I’d want the extra durability of steel on a wrecker but I am definitely a fan on the rollback.

@MercifulTowing

rear end was destroyed on the tractor, case broke open, gears damaged, it doesnt look like it but every time we looked at the thing wed find more damage. It took a beating, It rolled over at least once on the way down if not more.

That's the real bad thing with that brand of eqipment the housing cases are made from very cheap metal they bust up just from using them.. you dont see any rocks there but the rear end case all smashed up. From just a roll over. Just using them an bang on a rock or pulling to hard brakes them cases. Total high price junk

@@MercifulTowing If you want to grow your channel subscriber base, editing to 30 minutes or less will help. Most people do not have an hour to see if or how you got the job done. Fast forward through the heavy breathing as you pull the cable out or climb the bank to find an anchor point. We know winches are slow. Fast forward or time lapse through the slow action. If I did have a channel, my content would be edited to 20-30 minutes. Look at your data and see how many watch the entire video. I watch a lot of channels that surpass 250,000 subscribers in a year or so and up to 500,000 in 2-3 years. They rarely go longer than 30 minutes. When they do, they usually explain why so people stay to the end.

@arnoldromppai5395 Год назад
Can't help you have a short attention span deal with it. And screw the goddamn time lapses who the hell wants to watch that s*** when you can't tell what's going on I fast forward for it all that time lapse s*** in any video or I click off

@idadho Год назад
@@arnoldromppai5395 The great YT channels know that 30 minutes is the maximum length that people view. Not an attention span issue. More, a Don't bore me with your heavy breathing. issue. Time lapsing slow winching becomes medium speed winching.
