@@localvillageidiot7206 man that would make it terrifying to enter a building, that dreaded marker will be on the closest exit door, just waiting, only for it to turn and starts running closer
Have you seen the mod that drops a nuke whenever a NCR soldier says "patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter."? Cause if so I have a delightfully devilish idea for a challenge run . . .
Dude, we need to bump this comment up! This would be an amazing video! Caveat being that he HAS to do the NCR questline and do as many NCR sidequests as possible.
@@thelonesurvivor3955nah, that's physically impossible. whoever claimed that probably had their save corrupted so badly the game went kaput trying load any basic info on it.
Crash man is legit terrifying if you think about him too much. Like, with nothing beyond a single word he could bring the entire universe he's from to ruin.
@@Summerinnovember a deep vibration thrums from the core of the earth, the earth falls apart as the sky shatters without the mass of the planet to keep it together, screams echo around you as people flicker out of existence, leaving only items alien to their body, piles of clothes litter the shattered ground as buildings topple and you realize that it's not only earth. Stars explode, planets implode, water disintegrates, and dust evaporates. Meanwhile the man stands there, slightly smiling, as your vision becomes engulfed in light. One thought is thunked while all of this is happening. *"Later"* I will... See him again? Suddenly the vision, the premonition, fades and you look around you, stunned your still alive, and take in your surroundings. The playground, the cars, the building, the sun. The Man. Walking towards you. With a smile. The chase is on.
"The added anxiety of the game crashing at any moment, oddly made this really enjoyable." Honestly never thought I'd hear those words about Fallout: New Vegas...
@@kingofsomething3250 Which is why having crash man visible is a good idea. You cant even see him in vanilla, everything runs, and then completely invisible and silent crash men touches you - and then everything is gone.
@@DaMazzaf97 Ehh... it could be said that New Vegas *_is_* the state, for all the other highly developed and functioning areas there are. they even got the monorail moving again. Railroad means a lot in terms of infrastructure
I appreciate there being an in-game system for NPCs to be able to continuously pursue you. There's missed potential for making a genuinely scary It-Follows type mod where the thing chasing you isn't just some lame meme, maybe something like the Wendigo from Dust
Wendy just pops up in preset locations and you shoot it with a flare gun or even an incendiary AMR round (just shoot up the Ranger vets around Nellis to get those) to make it despawn for several minutes. Wendigo is only scary to people who think flamers are the only way to spook abominations.
There IS a mod that has Elijah pop up and chase you down if you had trapped him in the Sierra Madre vault, insinuating he escaped and tracks you down after a certain period of time. Sometimes has robots with him iirc
I love these videos. Someday we need a chase with Crash Man, Private Kowalski, Malcolm Holmes, NCR Ranger, Victor and Fisto all ganging up on you for a finale.
He can't be bargained with, he can't be reasoned with, he doesn't feel pain, or remorse, or fear, and he absolutely will not stop until you are d- *game crash*
I think it would be interesting if the crash man had a random starting location or there were multiple crash men starting in wildly different parts of the map making every direction require extra thought
Still a little sad that you didn't side with NCR in the Kowalski video. Just imagen in from his perspective. Some idiot shows up and disrespects the memorial and you start running to tell him his an asshole. He starts running but you give chase, but while you chase him he gets on the good side of the NCR, starts ranking up and ends up being a hero. Only you know he's an asshole but you were always just a liiiiittle bit too far behind to tell confront him about it.
@@ALLMINDmercenarysupportsystem but he knows you can play the game as a pacifist, challenge runs have been done before, and the flare gun really sucks outside of the divide
This is an interesting concept for a open world game, being chased by someone who is rather too much powerful to die like mr.x or can resurrect... Like mr.x. It would add urgency to complete the main story since you could really feel the importance of the situation unlike skyrim, where the world is literally about to end if you don't do anything and yet you're free to roam around the world as much as you want.
I downloaded this mod the day it was originally released as a joke to myself and promptly forgot about it just for him to find me a few days later... he corrupted my Legion playthrough I spent 80 hours on
@@emporer15 I made the mistake of using only one save after killing benny.. so about 5 hours in if I wanted to attempt to recover.. so not worth it.... might do a ncr run next
@@Flesh-Automaton well I learned that I still have less problems with a Legion run than if I do a ncr run... I always seem to get broken quests with the ncr, or the super fun "crash when you load a zone" well I'm doing the 'run & talk' quests
Update on the suggestion for “Can you beat Fallout 4 as the Silver Shroud” in the adventures, he/she seems VERY persuasive, so Charisma would need to be your highest stat, and you might need the “pacify” perk maxed out
Also, obviously getting the mod to leave calling cards would be nice. Taking every dialogue as the Shroud, using his outfit and weapon, and hunting down evil-doers. Siding with the Railroad, beating the Mechanist, etc.
Every one of my characters in F4 has had max charisma.. the game is highly geared toward that stat and it always makes sense to max it. I'd be a happy silver shroud 😅
Definitely not pacify perks, if you listen to the radio plays during the related quest he's constantly killing people, definitely not a no kill type hero, would go so far as to call him an anti-hero
I bet the crash man is actually in the vanilla game, but he’s invisible, not targetable, and he doesn’t speak to you when he catches you he crashes the game. Ah, Bethesda Fallout
Gotta give you a thumbs up and a shout out just for reaching out to the author of the mod and providing a link so the rest of us do not miss out. That alone makes you glorious!
If you wanted an added challenge you could use the fallout 4 quick loot menu mod. You'd have to go through inventories in real time instead of pausing the game world with the original loot menu, giving your chasing NPCs that much more time to catch up to you while you scramble to find supplies.
imagine going about your day in the wasteland trying to survive, not knowing your worst enemy is a random passerby that breaks the laws and barriers of the universe itself by interacting with you
Increasing the stakes eh? Fair play! But can you Beat Fallout New Vegas while being chased by Crash Man, Malcolm Holmes, Private Kowalski, Fisto, Victor, NCR Assassins, Legion Assassins, and Mister Burke, while having a gun always drawn, every addiction possible, full heavy armor, and drinking a Nuka-Cola every ingame day.
Can he beat new Vegas while being chased by FISTO, Crash Man & Private Kowalski..... or for a real challenge while all three are invisible! & with only a hand gun of your choosing always drawn. Ahh the anxiety would be glorious.
I'd like to see the mod maker make it so that multiple crash-men spawn in the mojave at random starting locations. Bonus points if after a set amount of time (like every 10 minutes) they teleport to a certain distance from the player, again at random locations.
Id love to see a run where he actually gets the various factions to join the NCR for a change instead of blowing them sky high or in this case, turning them into paste.
I just completed the game in a sort of "top down view" mode, where I'd set my FOV to 110 and keep the camera above my head. Of course the only way to play the game was with melee, but I beat it pretty easily. Glad to finally find a link to this mod, because I had been seeing article after article talking about it, but never could get my hands on it. Time to play New Vegas yet again!
Hear me out - “Can you beat fallout new Vegas as an Irish man” - must always be under the effects of whiskey - Unarmed attacks and improvised weapons only (tin grenades, bottle cap mines, etc) - must attack the NCR on sight. Maybe the legion too, but idk. Unsure of what to do with Mr House, and other factions like the Brotherhood or Khans. Was also thinking of restricting healing to only potatoes, but those are nigh-impossible to find so probably too much. Bonus points if you voice your character in native Irish.
What about adding an addendum: As an Irishman during the troubles. Explosives are allowed as well as any gun that resembles an Armalite rifle, (bonus points if it was hidden behind a dumpster by some germans) occasionally blasting classic Irish nationalist songs.
I always thought a full game like this would be really cool. there was a racing game 12 years ago or so callef Fuel, had the biggest in game world for the time. I always thought it wuld be really neat if there was a "most dangerous game" game mode where you have to drive to different points on the map while a hunter is chasing you
@@anakinskywalkercrappyprodu2205 how about can you beat fallout 4 while being chassed by private Kowalski? (Using mod or being chassed by someone else)
A similar mod is NoSkyrim, a mod for people who don't want to play Skyrim. It just crashes the game on startup. It got removed from Nexus for I assume the same reason as The Crash Man for FNV- The mod includes a file that crashes the game on purpose
@@TKGaming7750 nexus needs to make a category for these kinds of mods instead of casting them into the abyss where masterpieces like these mods will never be found
3:47 they can sometimes cross it. i once met malcolm holmes while leaving ceasar's tent. they can't enter separate worldspaces though, for example freeside, strip, camp mccarran, northside, westside and south vegas.
As entertaining as these runs are, I feel like they're way too easy. The chasers are literally never an actual factor, it's just the threat of their existence that provides even a little tension. We need something that's significantly faster than you as the player. Something where you have to exploit the awful pathing just to get a head start because it WILL catch up to you eventually. Basically an SCP-096 mod.
yeah it's cool to see how fast he can get everything done, but I was expecting some interaction with the crash man somewhere. except for the funny intro there would have been no way of knowing that the crash man even existed while he was playing. would definitely be cool to see a more difficult one or the application of the moment in the intro where how he had to knock him out before he had a chance to talk.
Never have I beat fallout NV or even played it in the first place, have no knowledge of any of the mods or game mechanics, but I didn't skip a single minute of this video since you are simply that entertaining. Subbed o7
It’s funny, I recently installed the game to finally play through all the dlcs, and I actually did this challenge as well… Except there wasn’t a guy chasing me. And there wasn’t a mod.
Can't help but be reminded of Danny Devito being the Trash Man. And now I want some form of Trash Man run. For fallout 4 you could only use items found in Trash cans or rubbish heaps and the junk jet with Trash items, have to wear the grognak outfit like his wrestling gear etc...
@@friendbesto2599 Well NPCs can take damage from thrown objects or objects you're moving around fast enough. All you'd need is a physics enabled trash can, maybe the rock-it launcher for extra fun.
Did you know that the featured character in this video, "Crash Man", was actually named for the fact that if he touches you you crash? This is a subtle reference to Fallout New Vegas's infamous bugs and inconsistent crashes. Truly master-level writing, referencing and foreshadowing. Nice job, Nerbit!
Fun fact: the crash man crashing the game was completely unscripted and improvised by the crash man himself but the creator loved it so much he made it his character
I enjoy the maps, it shows a part of challenge runs us the views don’t see very often, seeing as most challenge videos show off the stuff that happens, but you giving us the map let’s us see what you plan on doing
I'm pretty sure if you drag a body too far from its death spot it will disappear I did that with hauling shit in Fallout 3 not sure if it does the same in New Vegas I would assume it does cuz MANY of the mechanics are the same between the 2.
I was trying to keep track of it, and it sounds like you only ever saw him at the edge of the horizon once in this run. I wish the mod had a difficulty slider in the form of affecting how much faster he can run than a normal NPC. Still fun, however.
Someone needs to mod in the Pacman Ghosts (or characters equivalent to them) who all chase you, but generally follow the rules of each ghost's particular behaviours. If any of them catch you (or you run into them), then they attack and kill you with overwhelming melee damage.
I would have LOVED to been one of the other couriers just safely out of the path of destruction but close enough to watch this one guy cranked out of his mind on Turbo whirling a Power Hammer across the wasteland as he's being chased by an entity of untold horror.
I would love to see a mysterious stranger based challenge where you can only use his pistol, a fedora, detectives coat, and vats with the mysterious stranger perk.
i never realized how important Agility was for some of my weapons until i watched someone play with 1. not only that when i got to 10 in my PC run (i play console alot more due to my computer being a potato) the reload is insane. and that's without the extra reload speeds of the perks.
You got this run done in such good time, but what if you had to complete a run with a lot of waiting instead? Can you beat Fallout New Vegas with only long fuse dynamite?
Can you beat Fallout New Vegas as a Enclave member. You can only use the Enclave remnant and Gannon family armor, any plasma/laser weapon, having ED-E and Arcade Gannon as companions, and destroying the NCR and Brotherhood and completing all of the Enclave Remnants quest line?
Maybe challange out of the left field, but I am curious... Can you beat Fallout 4 as a Protectron? - For added masochism, bonus objective is that you can't use Fast Travel.
The way you can just smack the crash man and knock him out before he speaks reminds me of Lord of the Rings. "Do not allow him to speak. He will put a spell on us."
This reminds me of the movie “It Follows”. I think a cool addition to this mod would be to change his appearance every time he respawns, so he can hide in crowds lol.
