Pikmin 1 and 2 have a case of "if you can't see it, it doesn't exist". In order to save on hardware resources Pikmin 1 and 2 will not process most objects if they are far off-screen. It's something that is abused in many speedruns of the game and would make many of your challenges easier (but also feel somewhat disingenuous).
Why would they make them disingenuous? When it comes to challenge runs you use every tool in the game to do the thing. The only reason I personally might not use a thing is because using it is less fun. But I wouldn't ban something that is part of the base game, especially something as vague as not looking at the thing. That's kinda hard to verify, as opposed to "Don't press the Jump button" for example.
For the bridge in the forest of hope, you can complete the bridge and get the part on day 2 before the sheargrubs even spawn. It's even done in speedruns. Edit 1: You have to throw the pikmin across, almost drowning them, to get to the other bridge since you wouldn't have blues at that point. Edit 2: The best part of the run is that the breadbug gets to live, since its part is not necessary.
Awesome video! Although here’s a fun little fact that might have already been spammed in the comments here… if you don’t watch the Pikmin return a part, they are safer! Usually… As enemies in this game and pikmin 2 will unload if offscreen, far enough away *and* have no Pikmin near them. Offscreen/far away Pikmin moving near their location then doesn’t load them back, only if the camera or the player gets near. Either way, great job on the challenge, and this method makes it more fun to watch/challenging anyways!
Will admit, was expecting you to pop up at the end with something like 'but mama didn't raise no quitter', a reprise of a line you used earlier, and then you go and beat up Bulblax anyway to go for 100% completion with minimal kills
After learning the the the efects of napping, it seems plausable. But i can think of complications…. Which is any enemy whome has a ship part internally held
You can distract the first 2 bulbears you can find by throwing a pikmin into the area where you can get some bomb rocks and awakening the bulbears. The bulbears can’t kill the pikmin like this and will try and chase it but it won’t suceed
next challenge you can get revenge on those sheargrubs,or maybe you can make it the challenge of how many sheargrubs you can kill Xjust don't forget to add the death count D
I was going to ask why you didn't call this a pacificist run, then I saw how often you were punching creatures to distract them, lol. "No killing run" it is!
At least in 2 (been way too long since I've done one so can't remember) you can call them back as soon as the animation starts for the bridge to unrolling it'll finish up.
@@pressaTD Yeah. Like, it's not even a profanity issue. I have no problems with swearing, it's just so repetitive and gratituitous that it comes off as childish, like a young tween boy trying out the new bad word he just learned in a Halo lobby. You've got to at least be more creative with your swears, dude. I genuinely enjoy your content, this is coming from a place of constructive criticism rather than just hating, I assure you.
I gotta say I swear I haven't known you to curse in any other video and the fact you did repeatedly in this one really made me laugh and got across how frustrating this challenge was!
I would argue that the clamclamp doesn't really count as a "death" since it doesn't stop doing anything. Even without an object in it to attack, it'll eat pikmin regardless. I think there is a postgame tally of foes defeated and if it counted there then yeah it sucks that counts.
Right! And I don't think the Puffy Blowhog counts as a death either; the "death" animation is just it escaping. So the final tally should be 4 deaths then.
For the Armored Cannon Beetle, you can throw one Pikmin when he is about to throw rock and he is gonna overheat and run like a maniac. The thing is if you don't attack him on the back, when he is running, he won't die and you don't risk any casualties.
always feel in these games where even during planning you'd know you can't in the most literal, I feel that the rule of Pacifist is "without killing non-mandatory NPCs". In this case, that is what you did and I feel it counts. It is the same idea as the "Yellow only" run or the like. Part of these challenges that are fun is actually seeing how doable they are from their reasonable starting point, not saying "well actually you didn't start with it so you failed from the start" is just boring.
8:25 Those sheargrubs (and most sheargrubs - any that aren't interested in destroying a bridge) won't come out of the ground unless olimar is there. If you let the pikmin carry the part by themselves, they'll be completely safe because only Olimar triggers them to come up.
I've never completed a Pacifist run, but in my attempts, I also try to avoid Pikmin deaths, since letting your comrades die is not the Pacifist way. That's probably why I gave up and left it alone for awhile lol.
I didn't even know the clam counted tbh. I always figured the clam was still alive after getting the positron generator from it. I just knew the answer was no due to the mushroom boss being a thing, not to mention Beaty
I think you should’ve been able to knock out the red spotty bulbares because you wouldn’t have killed them you would have knocked them out you can tell they don’t die by seeing there health bar regenerate
A Challenge which I tried for myself was "can you beat Pikmnin without losing a single Pikmin" and I can say to you that Sheargrubs were the bain of my existence. Once they nap a Pikmin it is bound to die.
I immediately thought "no, you need to kill enemies to make some mandatory parts drop." but I was impressed he managed to do it without killing any other.
I'm gonna answer the title before the ad even finishes playing, no because of the numerous parts inside of enemies. Like the Bowsprit, or the Omega Stabilizer
