Great video, i've always wanted to be in the military but i have had severe anxiety for years and unfortunately my doctor thinks it is clinical and not just psychological due to most of my anxiety episodes being random. I understand why the military wouldn't want people with anxiety disorders because they can be a liability to the team or have an anxiety attack and generally be unreliable.

I am starting a 12 month personal teisning program to lose 100 pounds to enlist in the Air Force and I have mental health records and I am currently trying to get off of my meds and have my psychiatrist clear me.. I hope that coming in as a chaplain student will help and explaining that God healed me.. I feel called to do this and I know the Lord will make a way. But I am extremely nervous for MEPS

Good luck on your fitness and mental health journey! You’re going to need a medical waiver and be off medication for 24-36mo too depending on the severity of your diagnosis and unique details and history. I’ve given more and more thought about the military however I am disqualified for service because I suffer from OCD and some Anxiety symptoms. However I’ll still do my duty to help out my country if I can, from either volunteering with vets, or even simply learning about history and being grateful or promoting the country through advertisements and graphic design.

I checked myself into inpatient care for 9 days back in May 2019’. I thought it was counseling, but it was a full blown mental institution. Got “diagnosed” with Major Depression. The thing is, the facility I went to (Millwood, FT Worth) is basically a pill factory, and are poorly rated publicly. The eval took 2 minutes and upon figuring out I had TriCare, tried to diagnose me with everything under the sun. I was prescribed 3 different meds that I refilled only once and never picked up since. I’ve never had an issue since I left inpatient. That being said, 3 1/2 years later, I’m wanting to join up, but upon hearing about MHR Genesis, I became majorly discouraged. I know I’ll never know if I’ll be accepted until I try, but I just want to know if I’m wasting my time. There’s nothing else that could disqualify me.

It's been over 10 years since I've had medication for ADHD and depression and I also got cleared with a letter from a phycologist I've sent in the letter and pharmacy records. what are the chances for that waiver to be approved? @@TEAMSWARTZis this the same requirement for ADHD alone without depression? i.e. ~2 yrs clear, get some counseling ~6months to document sign/symp free of ADHD? Of course, “all the things” will be completed that your other videos suggest re ADHD waiver such as applicant secure all records, get a BHS to write all clear memorandum ..etc etc? I watched the other waiver ADHD clips. 👉🏻Just wanted to clarify the 2 yr req. off ADHD meds, and this counseling piece, if there was NO depression. Thank you!

I was underneath a stressful time in my life to where I was working 75 hours a week my grandmother died, and I had just had a baby who require medical attention at birth. So I talked to my doctor and she prescribed me some medication. I wanted to join when I was 24. I am 25 now I no longer have depression it was just a stage in my life. I am waiting for a year that I am completely off before I join so that will be the September. I am hoping this will be enough. I have spoken to the Marines as a back up.

i got out in ait due to adjustemnt disorder mixed with anxity and depression. 2 days afteer leaving i absoluley regretted it, i just hope im able to rejoin again. re code 3..... the only way im sad is because of my descision of leaving due to temperary emotions....sorry for the spelling typing really fast.

Was diagnosed with mild depression when I was 17 in 2021, fast forward to 2023 and Was going through a very stressful time in my life at 19 and wasn’t in a stable place and was prescribed some anti depressants as a sleep aid that I took for about 2 weeks and then got off of them due to the side effects, I just go to therapy and church now and plan on going to get my bachelors in law enforcement so I can transfer that into possibly the military as an NCO or A law enforcement career because it’s something I still really want to do, the army if possible, will be years from now, but would going to therapy during that time effect my chances of joining up if and when the time comes and I still want to join?

Hey, i really want to join the army. but i am concerned about something, so i was told by a buddy that if i have a mental illness that i could not mention it and they wont find out or care, ok good, but i have been misdiagnosed with bipolar, i am not bipolar, i assume it is on my record, should i call the clinic that used to attend and tell them that i want to join army, what can i do, i dont want lie to the recruiter. i neee help on this one guys. tell me.

I have anxiety panic disorder haven't been on any medication in years I deal naturally hardly have attacks I'm 32 depression to but that don't interfere with my life at all I do have learning disabilities but man I'd die for my country work harder then most to show I can I do wear glasses lol not sure if that is an issue either lol

The fact of the matter is, if you join someone or a lot of people are going to call you a sad boi, suicide boi, etc. because you deal with different things and they see you as weak. UNLESS you go somewhere other than infantry.

I have a medical history of anxiety. No medication just therapy/psychology visits. I haven't been treated for anxiety for more than 3 years and I manage it very well to a point were I don't think I have it anymore. Am I good if I want to join?

I’m going to nursing school currently and was considering joining the army. I was also diagnosed with generalized anxiety and was taking meds but haven’t since June 2022. Would I have to wait to start the process of joining till June 2024 or could I start earlier then that? Thanks!

I’m 18 and have been off them for nearly a year and I want to join the national guard in may after I graduate high school. I’ve had absolutely 0 issues and feel amazing, obviously I need to talk to a recruiter but do you think this is something that i’ll be able to get a waiver for being off them for 13 or 14 months instead of the full 2 years?

What if you’ve been prescribed anxiety medication to take as needed and aren’t dependent on it. If a doctor is willing to re-evaluate and provide a medical letter for clearance, would that maybe allow for me to by-pass the 2yr waiting period?

The problem with that is the "as needed" anxiety medications are almost 99% of the time going to be a benzodiazpine, which is a very effective type of drug for severe anxiety, however it makes the patient drowsy during use (benzos work by reducing neuronal overactivity in the brain), and with military you have to be sharp, attentive and highly responsive. You would probably have to use a long term medication such as an SSRI or buspar that doesn't make you drowsy but can also help treat your anxiety disorder, however if you feel the anxiety is a significant impact on your life honestly i would not recommend military work unless it is office work.

Will you be accepted with a history of drug abuse ? I never went into rehab/ treatment. However it'll be down in my medical records because of several occasions where the ambulance was called due to near overdoses . I've never been on medication for any mental illness either . I really want to join. My application got accepted. But I'm so worried about what's going to come up in my medical history. Any advice ? :/

That’s going be a tough one. Whichever branch you decide to join, ask around for who’s known for being a Waiver Guru/God. That’s the Recruiter you want to talk to because they take the extra effort in mapping out a strategy to increase the odds for getting permission to complete a medical exam, and possibly a medical waiver. You’ll need to have accomplished significant things since your last overdose incident. Like obtaining a degree, establishing and highly successful career, etc… You must have a solid applicant statement which your recruiter will help you with and maybe they’ll give you a shot. Has it been 5-10yrs since the last incident? Applicant statement will need you to own your mistakes, not blame or down play the why, how did you over come it, what support systems do you have in place then and now, what coping mechanisms you had then to now and why you think you’re stable enough to be considered to why you want to join (do not mention any benefits…). Few do get approved if they are able to prove they are capable. What MEPS/Surgeon General is going to need are the following: ✅EIP/504 Plan ✅Medical Records ✅Pediatric Records (possibly) ✅Pharmacy Records if medicated ✅High School/College Transcripts ✅Updated Evaluation/Testing is recommended and obtain an all clear letter from a autistic specialist. ✅Reference Letters from previous Teachers/Professors that can express how you performed with no assistance and was as normal as a normal person in class and performance if you were off any medication and not using EIP/504 plan If it’s mild and outgrew it or highly functioning with no limitations or restrictions or assistance, there’s a chance for a medical waiver. If just finishing high school or in high school under a current EIP/504 Plan, talk with the medical professional or whomever to get off and function without that assistance. Gotta prove they can hold their own without assistance essentially. If in EIP/504 all of high school but about to start college, do college without EIP/504 plan and pass class and preferably excel with great grades. The better the grade the better the consideration for a more favorable outcome. I hope this helps in some way for a better understanding and perspective. Yeah I completely understand everything you said that’s brilliant thank you very much. I knew rules had changed since 2018 but didn’t know if it was anything major. I’m going to make the assumption you’re American? So would this be the same for the UK?

Hi, not relevant question to this video but after I get out of AIT my army reserves might not be it due to financial burden and such. if I tell my commander that jobs are tough and not available housing for me will they help me switch to active? how likely is it they decline?
