For those of us who are Australian. 3 weight (light) yarn DK, light Worsted is a 8ply. 4 weight ( medium) Worsted, Afghan, Aran is a 10ply. 5 weight ( bulky) chunky, craft, rug is a 12 ply.

I have some super thick wool that gets thicker and thinner as it goes along. I probably shouldn't even try it. Thanks for doing the science for us ♥

I really really appreciate that you had as much trouble with the yarn as I did. The exact same problem with several needles dropping side by side. For me, it only happened as I was using it for my waste yarn, but that meant getting a project started was very difficult. Once I switched over to Caron yarn, the project itself went very well. I did another one with Cupcake yarn and that went very very well too. At one point I regretted buying the machine at all. But after the learning curve was over, I'm happy with it now. I just know that using the hand drill to go faster can be a huge mistake. In the middle of a very long tube, the yarn knotted and ripped the working strand in half. I didn't notice the break until after I took the project off the loom. Thankfully I saw it before I stretched it out as that would created a failed stitch all the way down the fabric!! Thank you for the video and giving us a chance to see what happens with different yarns.

I'm new to the Sentro 48, and appreciate yarn recommendations. I did not have good luck with Hobbii Fantasy Jumbo at all, and Red Heart Super Saver, despite being a #4, was a disaster no matter what tension I used. My best results have been with DK or light worsted yarns.

Yeah Im pissed because the "4" wont go through it easily at all. Also acrylic yarn sucks in it but wool seems to knit smoothly.

I've had difficulties using most 4 weight yarns unless they are very soft. My machine is so picky I don't even try bulky. I have done two stands of fingerling with perfect results.

Definitely ran into some problems with the different textures in Yarns pretty much Sentro says size 3 and 4 are the best sizes to run through the machine anything else makes it complicated. Nice video btw.

Thank you for this video I purchased Primer Serenity Chunky to use on my Sentro for hat not hate. I purchased a Addi for my birthday so when it gets here I’ll try it out. But for now I’ll be crocheting with my bulky yarn 🧶 Again thanks for sharing.

Using a Addie wouldn't make that much of a difference my friend has a Addie and really the cheaper sentro did a better job of handling the bulky yarn plus we always rewind our yarn into a ball before using it and rubbing wax paper on it plus don't use the machines tension guide just use your hand

Mine seems to love DK and Caron simply soft, but refuses any bulky and the majority of Red Heart Super Saver. I've also had good luck with Premier worsted.

The bulkiest yarn that has worked for we is worsted (4) but I did notice wool worked way better than the acrylic yarns that were a thicker worsted size.

Hi Serfronya, thanks for the review. I am wondering if you tried 2 category 3 wt strands to make a 5 weight in your machine? Looking at the premier puzzle yarn, it looks like it may be similar. I have a sentro and 2 addi machines I haven’t tried them with multiple strands yet. Thanks so much for sharing.

I wish Sentro will drop the source of the yarn they give you. I've been scouring for something similar as I adore the hat I made with that sample yarn. I have had fabulous success with #5 Lion Brand Woolspun... but I think that line had been discontinued.

ILove your videos. I have a question about types/brands of yarn. I have an Addi King Size Express (46 needles). On more than one occasion I have not been able to get good results with the Red Heart super save White yarn. The other colors seem to work fine. Any thoughts on why the White doesn't work? thank you

I personally have had no success with thicker yarns in any of my circular knitters (including my addis). 4 weight is the most any of my machines will take. And my sentro does best with dk weight yarn.

I'm fairly new to knitting, what is dk stand for?

@@elionamorales4376 dk is european and it means double knit. It is a weight designation of yarn. It is not as thick as what we call worsted weight but it is thicker than sport weight. It is actually very nice to work with. Hobbii yarns is out of Denmark . Most of my dk weight yarn I got from hobbii. Try it out. I think youll like it.

Every time I use Mainstays on my Sorento 48 or 22 it splits or I get tucked stitches no matter what tension I have it on no matter if I do hand tension I think I may try a dryer sheet hack that I saw

I mainly loom knit but do have a 48 sentro. Which i used 2 weeks (not roughly) n its acting badly. Anyway i use alot of premier n the solid chunky is def alot thicker than puzzle which i have many skeins

Debbie, I used to look knit, mainly hats. But now I primarily use the knitting machine because it's easier on my hands.

I have had the exact same issue with the Addi machine and thicker yarn not working in the machine. I think the machine doesn’t work very well anymore so I would highly recommend NOT using thick yarn in knitting machines.

You need to not use the machine tension. Can't say it will work but it would help.

Has anyone tried using weights on the knitted material to keep the stitches from popping off the hooks? It helps on my flat bed knitter.

I used weights when I still used my Michaels Loops and Threads circular knitting machine before the gears got stripped. I haven't tried to use them with my Sentro yet, however I just got the machine recently and have only knitted a hat and 3 tube panels for a baby blanket so far. I am enjoying it so far.

Thanks for showing the bulky yarn. I haven’t tried any yet still trying to figure out best # 4 yarns. When I use Mainstay I get tucked stitches. When you use Mainstay yarn are you holding the yarn or using the guide? Thanks😊

Maryann, I always use the guide with my machines. On the 48 needle I either use the middle or smallest tension hole, depending on the thickness of the Mainstays yarn.

I wish you success. Sadly, these machines are finicky. Two Sentros 48 needle machines might not both like the same yarn.

I tried #5 bulky like 5-6 times and all failed. I could only knit 5 rows and then it doesn’t work. It gets jammed.

So today before watching this video i bought the Bernat. Baby blanket yarn and tried it in my sentro machine and yea it went around maybe 5 times then it got stuck so i ended you removing it completely im disappointed but oh well and i dont know how to hand knitt or crochet so as of right now I dont know what to do with my new Bernat baby blanket yarn any ideas or suggestions would be greatly and appreciated

Hi Montana! That's a bummer. I am a crocheter and soon I will be adding some easy crochet videos. I have found both crochet and loom knitting to be easy to learn, especially loom knitting. Perhaps you can find some beginner videos?

did not work at all not good for yarn 5 and up no bulky or chunky yarn at all will jam up the machine drop and miss drop stitch such a mess and headache gone machine for yarns 4 think and under only no double strands omg lol.
