Gonna be honest I have barely had time to breathe the past few weeks let alone film and edit a video. I also want to say that if you have made money in the past with certain markets is amazing. I used to sell beauty products and tried to engage with customers and get them to sample things etc but hardly broke even ever! I found them extremely exhausting too and time consuming. It’s nice to meet people but I feel you have to have a thick skin too to let rejection or perhaps an unkind word or two bounce off you. I find that hard!

It’s also possible I just have to high expectations lol! Cause I’ve had several people saying they don’t make profit or not much at events.. 😅 we had a few this year where we just barely broke even or sometimes we lost money at a few of them after counting the cost of the candles + the event price etc! Thankfully I haven’t had to many people say anything bad! I was always expecting people to say something about price etc but no one ever has! Or at least not where I could hear them! Lol!! I’ve definitely grown a bit of a thicker skin though! Lol! For every person that doesn’t like your stuff there’s several more that do so I usually don’t worry about it! Haha! But it is hard getting to that place!

Congratulations on getting monetized!!!!! Your story on growing up, it was like you spoke my childhood growing up and there are many years between us, my grandmother was our savior a lot! it is hard not to fall into that mentality or go the complete opposite (for me ) it’s been both the only time I was very strict with finances is when my kids were small. Then I went wild spending and now I’m back to strict 😅, because I love my business and I want it to grow . Thank you so much for sharing this video and again congratulations 🎉

Thank you so much!! Glad this spoke to you but I hate that you grew up the same way! It’s a rough time. I’ve only recently realized how much it affected my mentality with money etc. And yeah I definitely went through a time too where I was the opposite and spent to much on stuff I didn’t need! Lol! 🤦🏻‍♂️ It’s all about finding a balance! Lol.

@@the1994candleco we learn a lot more than we realize (I feel) I could not imagine a super comfortable or more like spoiled childhood, then end up a single mom not knowing how to get by , it’s not even about having children it’s to me a lesson to strive and spend on what counts like the shoe story I’m the same way , in the end it makes you super appreciate those movie nights or nice dinner dates with your spouse you just appreciate (in my opinion) so much more, even within your business, you paid for the startup you paid for the supplies maybe little by little bit it’s yours and all of this comes into play growing up like we did , I don’t think I’d change it , because if needed I can stretch a dollar for days 🤣

So true! We definitely learned a lot! And yeah when I started I was living on my own in a large-ish city (Higher cost of living but not as bad as like Cali or new york etc! lol!) only making $28,000 a year (BEFORE taxes) lol! Paying all my own bills ent etc and using whatever I could to pay for candle supplies little bits at a time! haha! It was rough but I made it by! lol!

Love the video and thank you for sharing your story. The poor mentality is real 😅 when my mind go to that place I do some meditation with positive words and that really helps. I also agree with the events, they take a lot of energy and time, you have to make more than $1000 to make it work, and that never happens 😂

Lol! I always shoot to make at least 5-6x’s what I paid. Thankfully last year we had good luck with that. This year was very hit or miss. Some we did great, others it probably would have been better not to do the event at all. 😅 Thankfully we at least have decent luck with turning event customers into repeat customers buying from our website etc. but yeah it’s rough! Lol!

I love your honesty and congratulations on getting monetized. My experience this year with markets was not as profitable as the year before. My last one will be this upcoming Sat. and that's it for the rest of the year. The booth fee's do add up and there are so many events going on these days (I'm in Southern California and events vary from $25-$1,000) but moving forward I will only focus on a couple of markets for 2024. I also plan to put my energy on my website, which is something I have been working on very, very, slowly. Wishing you the best.❤

Thank you so much! And thanks for sharing your experience! Glad it's not just me! I feel like there were market after market after MARKET this year. lol! That also may be playing a factor. To many constantly happening! I mean Omaha is a fairly large-ish city though so I don't know how we compare to other places in terms of how many markets there are but I just feel like there were quite a few this year! lol! We have 2 this weekend (😅) and then that's it for us this year too. None planned for 2024 yet. I think I'm gonna take January off of markets cause man I'm tired! lol!

Congratulations 🎉you’re such an inspiration for me. I’m currently still testing, I wanted to start with markets but they look terrifying lol the ones around where I live here in Louisiana seem small except like maybe a few in the big city. Most are in the “woods” out here lol small town type stuff. I’ve seen your channel growing since I first subscribed. I’m so proud of you and happy for you 😊 I love your content. Markets seem overwhelming to me cause of how I am as a person. I get stressed and overwhelmed. Lol and Louisiana weather is moody too. I’m about 75% way through with testing, I can’t wait to launch. Im nervous and excited. Any advice would be welcomed, keep making great videos ❤

Now that I’ve done several and really after I did the first one and kind of knew more of what to expect they weren’t so bad. The setup and tear down is really the most annoying or stressful part now. Lol! They are a good way to get out into your local community and stuff though!!

As far as advice I would say if you haven’t started marketing/posting etc yet I would!! Even if you don’t have a launch date or anything yet. People love seeing behind the scenes and stuff before hand!

You have links to materials used bit if you have a link to some beginner e marketing book? Id use it. I didn't grow up in proverty but I did grow and still dealing with their lack of stability, I'm always scared when the shoe will drop so naturally hoard money and not spend. It's hard to let go and invest into my business

I honestly don't but i've thought about writing one or putting one together for sure! Honestly everything about marketing and graphic design I've learned has mostly just been through youtube and trial and error over several years of doing it for other businesses\people etc. lol! And yeah that's totally understandable! It's hard to do for sure.
