Just came upon your video. I've been auto detailing for over 30 years. Worked for major dealerships in my area, but also privately for that time. Have to say you do the same as I do..also I've learned something new from watching your videos. I tell ya...it suck seeing how people treat their vehicles. But..its job security for me. I started using carpet protector on my light gray carpet and seats. I park in a very filthy parking structure and had the mats black in a couple weeks. Now after cleaning I use Scotchguard heavily on the mats and carpet and they stay 90% clean for many weeks. Thank you.

Hi Darren, great video. I'm a mobile car detailer in Las Vegas for over 13 years and I came across your videos recently and I have learned some new tips from you, especially the "magic eraser" :) I have been using most of the same products you do, especially the Meguiars Super Degreaser and Wheel Brightner. I recently bought that brush you use in this video from Target and it's the best brush I have come across. thanks :)

I like your approach to detailing, Darren. Simple yet effective. I do want to point out, though, that the CG product you demonstrated is actually a concentrate! The Meguiar's APC is more cost effective (by a couple bucks per gallon,) but I actually like Nonsense because I personally don't like the harsh smell many cleaners have.

Darren, I clean out a good amount of the sand and dirt in vehicle floor mats, by setting up a way to hang them outside in the air and beat them first with something heavy like a wooden baseball bat. This gets a great deal of the embedded sand and dirt trapped at the bottom of the carpet nap of the mats. The driver’s side mat is always the worst. Then I vacuum them. Then I clean them with regular dish detergent, like Dawn dish detergent, and water outside with a fairly aggressive (stiff ) brush, then rinse the mats using a garden hose with a high power sprayer. I then let most of the water drip out of the mats and then I find a place, again outside, to hang the mats to allow them to drip dry/air dry while I am still detailing the rest of the vehicle. Then I will just use Scotch Guard on them when they are nearly dry. Then put them back in the car at the end of the entire vehicle detail.

The industry brain washes people into thinking they need 300 products to do a detail. at my shop I only use a handful of products and I can do everything with them. also like you after you have been doing this for as long as I have . you find many off label uses that save you even more time and money. Great videos!

Chemical Guys are absolutely guilty of marketing hype when it comes to promoting their products, but I would say in defence of Nonsense it can be diluted like the Meguiars whether you buy the 16oz bottle or the gallon, so does provide good value for money. Great video and thanks for sharing your insights, your point about detailers not asking customers for feedback enough is spot on.

Hi Darren, Videos are great. I love the help with going for common sense materials and keeping things simple for beginners like me. That being said, I have encountered a problem with the "leather" seats in my 2011 Honda Accord. I was at my son's in Florida and as a northeasterner by habit I left the windows cracked open about 2 inches to let the car cool. We stayed later than expected and during that time his sprinklers went on. When we went to leave, guess what? Yep, seats were soaked. We did all we could with a mountain of towels to dry them, but the next day I saw what I couldn't see in the dark on the black leather--a wrinkled effect. Now some areas of the seats are smooth like the original texture, but other parts have that nasty wrinkled look. If my leather is actually covered with some kind of vinyl, how did this happen? Do you have any suggestions for smoothing it out? Does this mean my "leather" actually needs some kind of conditioner to protect it now?

yank on them to extend, rub a cloth that has all purpose on them until it no longer sticks then release. CG Nonsense is very good at cleaning looser dirt and for light carpet cleaning. Great for door jambs. It's a poor degreaser which can be good around dressings and fabric coatings. Also great for sports equipment like backpacks and shoes. CG Singnature Series Orange degreaser is a much better cleaner for typical interior dirt which is body oil based. 1:15 will do well for most interiors. 1:6 for engines. I like it a lot better than the Meg's 108. I"m really liking 303 Multisurface Cleaner for interiors and cloth. I've yet to find anything better. Great vid!

In a lot off cars there are seat mountings on the floor powder coated black. And in some simpler cars you see in the trunk a none upholstered backseat. This is often black powder coated. If you spray 1/4 diluted A.P.C on that, the powder coat turns mat.

Hey Darren, just recently discovered your channel and have already watched about 20 of your videos. Very entertaining, and there is a lot of great information in every one of them. I am a mobile detailer in NJ, and my question for you is where do you get your Auto Fetish clothing made? I really like the style of the polos and especially the pull over you're wearing in this video.
@autofetishdetail
@autofetishdetail 8 лет назад
I "produce" them myself. I am part of what is called the ad-specialty industry (ASI) and I can get limitless styles of clothing at wholesale. So I do my own art, order my own shirts, and contract out with a local screen printing company to imprint them. And thanks for noticing!
@pascalverheijden5110

Daren nice video good tips. I learned one thing you have to watch out with if you use A.P.C. And that is the black powder coated services. If you use A.P.C on this coating it turnes mat. Maybe if it's more diluted it's safer but you have to watch out for it.

another great video Darren, whats the best way to remove glue from leather ?, my son sat in the back seat of my car with some sort of glue on his jeans on to black leather. i dont just want to ruin the seat i want to do the job right. i dont know what type of glue it is, any help on this would be gratefully recieved.
@autofetishdetail
@autofetishdetail 8 лет назад
That one is tricky! As noted, not all glue is created equal and without knowing what type, it would literally be a working experiment trying different things without damaging the leather. I have a feeling, that either way, you are not going to find a solution without causing some damage. It might be a moment where living with the glue intact, is better than a solution that creates a worse problem.

Is there an actual product for rubber that technically reconditions, or is in fact, dirt alone, and removal of same, the singular event/ effort to "restore" rubber gaskets?
