Caramel buttercream and filling recipe tutorial for cakes and cupcakes

Caramel buttercream recipe
1 cup unsalted butter
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup milk & 1 T milk
5 1/2 cups confectioners sugar (pure cane)
2 tsp salt
In a large sauce pan on medium low heat, add butter, brown sugar, & 1/2 cup milk. Mix until butter is melted and brown sugar is dissolved. Stop mixing and turn up to medium heat. Once it reaches boiling, let it bubble for two minutes and then remove from heat.
Pour into a separate bowl and cover and set aside until caramel is COMPLETELY room temperature.
Mix room temperature caramel in mixer with paddle attachment on low for a couple minutes. Add confectioners sugar and salt. Mix on low for about a couple minutes, scraping the sides. Add milk and mix on low for about five minutes.
For the filling and drizzle, repeat the caramel making process using all of the same ingredients except the confectioners sugar and salt.
