I have this engine on a Partner tepee and it has 220.000 klm with no problems at all. The key is to change the oil every 8.000 klm. The chain is still the original. If you take care of the engine it is fine.
Yeah, I have Peugeot RCZ with 156THP, I change my oil at every 7000km which is more better, sure, this engine might need more babysitting but i’m fine with that and that you can’t except toyota level reliability, but i’m with fine that too, as long as I change my oil with high quality oil and I don’t rape my engine with reckless driving, I think it will still last long time, it has now 164000km on it and does idle and run beautifully and healthy
Thanks for your insight. So far very happy with this engine (130Kkm). Changing oil 0W30 important. No problems 0 oil consumption, one time a carbonbuildup cleaning by a specialist, after the first signs during idle runs.
You forgot to mention the stem seals and pcv valve. I've done so many of this engines that I know them in my sleep. The throttle body has 3 screws, not 4.
My stem seals and pcv are currently bad. The release bearing on the clutch is groaning. The flexi on the front of the exhaust has snapped. And the breaks constantly screech! Terrible cars
@@chemicalyinbalanced i wouldn't call them bad cars in general. Some issues that you have are maintenance and normal wear issues. But the stem seals part is BMWs fault, as the head and timing system are developed by BMW. The old tu5 and tu3 PSA engines were pretty reliable in comparison with the ep6 and ep4 developed mostly by BMW.

@@razvanursache9493 Many of the problems are due 0w30 oil, ridiculous on this engine.but industry is going that way for many reasons. Put 5w40 or 5w50 true 100% german.
Hello, which brand of oil you use? And no hydraulic lifters knocking during cold starts ? ( 5°C and less) I changed to Yacco FR Lube 5w40, engine is more silent but i Can hear hydraulic lifters knocking like on old diesel engine with high mileage... I think about changing to 10w60 but dont know what brand will be best...
Hi Nikolay, thank you for this video! Second thing, I want to buy ds4 1.6 pueretch 225hp 2022 , it is worth it? Or should I buy 1.5 blue hdi ? Please help me with an opinion 🙏! Thank you!
Never buy any 1.6 peugeot/citroen engine 😬😬😬 Take my advice, the 1.2 engines are the best ones even if they don't have the most power, drive carefully and don't beat on the engine and it will be reliable
My parents have a Peugeot 207. The vvt solenoid started leaking for the first owner at 10000k and they ignored it and it went bad for my parents at 80000ks. The power steering motor died and was replaced. The thermostat housing cracked too and was replaced. It's currently at 130000ks. A/c is broken and it uses quite a bit of oil and coolant. I wonder what will be next.
@@itswais77 just as you replied it is currently leaking more coolant lol. I put a drain pan under it until it goes to the mechanic. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the head gasket.
Please need your assist, my Peugeot 207 running normally but after full throttle and then stop im losing power and acceleration is very poor with a loud intake sound, please i need help this car brought me nightmares
ffs, whenever I come close to choosing a car there's always something.. VW out, Mazda out, Peugeuot out.. think I'll get a 50 year old car that can be worked on easy
Is it that bad really ? My 2015 308 with EP6 is ok so far , done 85,000km. I replaced tensioner as precautionary measure about 5000km ago. Do you truly think I am going to have lot of issues in the future , or can I drive with confidence for a few more years ?
@@electronicbox6990 yeah but who can predict? I’ve seen some of these engine get over 200,000km without problems? I know earlier ones full of problems, but mine is 2015
Here in my case I have two peugeots more precisely 207 1.6 vti and 308 1.6 vti both are 2007 year. Both of them have passed a lot of owners and various ways of driving, so they have reached 280tkm, but now I don't know how to deal with them only a problem.
@@andrijavarga5442 nemam tih problema, motor radi fino, ali iz nekog razloga nakon pokretanja motora ventilator hladnjaka motora se uključuje na skoro Max brzinu i ne isključuje se bilo ljeto ili zima
I have a 95 or 98 petrol dilemma that I hope a professional like Nikolay can help to resolve as he knows so much about this engine. Would you recommend to use RON 95 or 98 petrol? and what will be the disadvantage or the worst that can happen if I only use 95? (it’s for 1.6 VTi 120k, year: 2008, km: 72000). The manual/petrol door says to use either 95 or 98, but I keep hearing that 98 should be much better. Is it really making a huge difference/helping preserve the engine better? As after years of paying more money for 98, I wonder which cost benefits will come from it
98 is always better, but I think that other than more power and performance you will not gain any other benefit. Now computers calculate mixture so well that they adjust on the fly.
Thanks for the reply. Good to know that using 95 won’t make the engine last less or make it worse vs using 98. Power/performance isn’t a priority for city driving, so using 95 makes more sense for me because it is cheaper at the gas station.

The EP6 AKA prince Engine Won international Engine of year for a Record Eight Consecutive years in a Row Also was the worlds most powerful under 1600cc displacement engine in the world with PSA's thp High pressure turbo system. The main problem is the EP6 is a high pressure (racing ) Performance Engine BMW/mini Peugeot/ Citroen all made The fatal mistake of seriously over estimated service intervals at 10.000 miles when relistically this high pressure engine with its high running tempetures should be serviced..( Oil/ filter changed flushed ) every 5.000 miles The degrading of the oil resulted in the vast majority of Ep6 (Prince Engine) Conponent failure (oil seals Cam chain tensioner ect ) this guys talking bollocks
Go to every PSA workshop and tell this to the mechanics, and you will be slapped in the face. Bull... awards do not mean anything. For example 1.6hdi engine despite being Guinness record and one of the best engines in the PSA group, still the majority of mechanics and customers are super negative about it. So, take the awards and you know where to put them.

This award is for economy (low fuel consumption). As far as I'm aware those engines have problems with the high pressure pump, timing belt and lots of leaks. I have been advised by official citroen dealer not to look for petrol engines such as vti or thp at all. Otherwise they feel good for driving
