Cardo Scala Rider Q1 Teamset Review www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/ca... The Cardo Q1 Teamset is the latest generation from Cardo that is designed for rider to passenger communications in full duplex. The new Q1 features a new option for music sharing over Bluetooth that allows both users to listen to the same music. The Bluetooth connection can also be used for rider to rider up to a 30 foot range. One of the most notable new features is the ability to swap to ear buds from the stock speakers using the provided 3.5mm jack. Cardo is known for its premium sound, and the Q1 Teamset uses the same platform as the upgraded models, such as the new Cardo Q3 and the G9. The Q1 dual pack has up to 10 hours of talk time and up to one week of standby. Up to 2 Bluetooth devices can be paired to the Q1 and one A2DP connection. For the riding team that wants a low profile communication unit that has premium sound, a simple install and easy to pair features.

+Saad Yes, if you're streaming music from your phone and you get a phone call, the music pauses and you hear the phone ringing. You can then accept or deny the call via the Q1 headset. -DrewZilla

We have had our Q1 for about a month and have fallen in love with it. My wife and I ride a highly modified 2008 KLR650 that is fitted for Adventure Riding. We now have no trouble talking at Interstate speeds or anywhere else and have had to turn the volume down a number of times. The only minor issue we are trying to fix is that the intercom sometimes unhooks when not used for a minute or two and we have to wait for it to reconnect before talking (maybe 10 seconds or so).

The range will not support rider to rider more than a few yards away. The Q1 is meant only for rider to passenger. Try the Q3 instead! -CK

First off: excellent presentation. Thank You. A couple of questions though: 1. Do both riders need to have a Bluetooth phone with them? 2. If one person gets a call, is it private, or do both parties hear all phone calls? Can each person listen to their own music or does one or the other control what both people hear?

Iv got the Q1 solo, had it around 3-4 months and its worked flawless until now. i tried turning it on but nothing happend , tried to recharge it and didn't get the red light that normally shows up , left it on charge for and hour but still nothing, so i will be taking it back.

The only con of this device for me is it stores just one hot dial number. My previous set (it was an entry level sena) held up to three numbers, which was a good thing to be able to dial three different numbers. As a commuter, phone functionality is far more important for me than intercom features.

The only problem I have had with this unit is the small wiring for the mic. Mine failed after 6 months. At the moment I'm trying to warranty it. Other than that it's a sweet bit of kit.

I just installed the Q1 and I'm having some issues with echo and the unit not being loud enough? Also is it possible that this wireless device is interfering with my wireless Hero 3.....I'm leaving for Zurich Friday so I'm getting a little stressed,Thanks,Colin

Hi, with this unit can i share the cost of the teamset with a friend of mine and he can use one on his bike and i use mine on my bike or is it like a Primary and Secondary unit that is only for 2 riders on the same bike?

Great video, thank you. I am undecided between this and the Sena 10S. Both will fit with adapter to my Bell Qualifier DLX. I've heard some complaints about the Sena. One is no skip song and I saw how easy it is to become unattached the unit from the adapter. Kinda worrisome. But could be the same with this one. Any feedback you can offer here? Maybe other points? Thank you.

Both units attach to their base clamps in a relatively similar fashion, so there is still the possibility to not attach it well if you're not careful. I've used both and have never had an issue. The Freecom has better weather resistance, which is nice, but many people do prefer the Sena's rotating jog dial. I lean slightly towards Cardo. -DrewZilla

The boom mic is really weirdly close to my mouth. Should I mount the extra mic instead? And the q1 doesnt work with the smartapp.

There is a certain amount of 'fiddling' to be expected with getting these communicators installed comfortably. Some helmets allow for a more pleasant microphone placement than others. I'd recommend trying the wired microphone for more low-profile set-up. As far as the compatibility goes, it does look like the Q1 is excluded from working with Cardo's SmartSet app. -TeamZilla Chris

+grotekapel No. Only the Sena 20S and Cardo PackTalk allow you to have an intercom conversation while simultaneously listening to music. This feature is called audio multitasking. codewahn with the Q1 if two bikes have the same unit you can call each other and talk that way, most people on there cell phones have unlimited talk and text anyway and you can put your friend on speed dial on your Q1 with three taps on the unit you make a instant call to them, for a fast and safer riding if you get cut off just redial that way..

I have a sena smh5. Don't care about the talking and phone stuff, does it play music loud? like literally, how loud do these things get? louder or less loud than the sena smh5

The Q1 gets to about the same level as the SMH5 but not any louder. The Q1 speakers connect via a standard 3.5mm audio jack, though, so you could easily run your own headphones or larger speakers. -DrewZilla

The distance between bikes would have to be very limited. In practice, the Q1 isn't good for real-world bike-to-bike use. -DrewZilla

Is it suitable with the scorpion exo-900 helmet? there are a pin for bluetooth.

It is. It will not fit into the EXO-900's Bluetooth port but, should clamp or stick on to the side of the helmet without any problem. -Hi-Viz Brian

Only with certain communicators, e.g. the Sena 20S, Cardo PackTalk, and Cardo SmartPack. While other communicators allow each person to listen to different music, the music streams are paused during intercom conversations. The Cardo Scala Rider Q1 Teamset allows the rider to connect to multiple Bluetooth devices at the same time. You can use the VOX technology or the buttons on the device to answer or make phone calls at any time so long as you are paired to the phone. -Luke

One question... Can both the driver and the passanger speak to each other during an intercom call. Because i have an issue with only one being able to speak to the other.

No, the Q1 does not connect to a Cardo iPhone app, but it is able to stream audio from your iPhone when paired via Bluetooth. -DrewZilla

You can pair a single Q1 with a Sena 20S only for rider-to-passenger use, as the range of the Q1 is only a very short distance. You cannot connect a Q1 to both a 20S and another Q1 simultaneously. -DrewZilla

+Kenny De Paepe Yes, the Cardo Q1 will mount on an AGV helmet, but keep in mind that the Q1 only allows for rider-to-passenger communication, not bike-to-bike communication. For bike-to-bike communication, the next step up from Cardo is the Q3. Hi Guys. I'm trying to find out what the voice command options are for the Scala Q1 Teamset. I have it already, and I have it paired to my iPhone 6, but, I can't figure out what I can do besides "Answer Call!" for an incoming call, and listen to music. IE, can I make outgoing calls? ("Dial 555-1212"), can I "Start Pandora!" that kind of thing? Anyone know? I just feel like it maybe does more than I know how to do, which is just answer calls, and, before I hit the road, turn Pandora on and let it play (and if it happens to stop for some reason, I have to pull over and pull out my phone and manually start Pandora again.) Anyone?

David Reed The voice commands (VOX) can only answer a phone call or initiate an intercom conversation. If your mobile phone supports voice dial, you can tap “MM” and “IC” buttons simultaneously and follow the prompt from the mobile phone. On an iPhone, that should activate Siri. There are no other voice commands with the Q1. -DrewZilla

I used this set for couple of times and broken down. One of the radios wont switch on at all and I have series problem to have that fix as customer service wont answer my e-mails. So there is word of advice STAY AWAY FROM THIS CRAP !!!
