Karen's voice still mesmerizes me every time I hear her sweet voice. She was truly a natural entertainer! A great drummer as well!

You could see that she was happiest when she was drumming. A very talented drummer, but her voice. Wow. Sheer perfection.

Karen was an extraordinary woman. I saw the Carpenters in concert on October 16, 1972 at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester, Minnesota (I found the exact date at an online database of their performances). I was 15 years old and a drummer since age 10. I was able to watch her play drums from a very close position. On her floor tom (in this video she has two, so she might have had two also when I saw her) she had a stick bag attached to hold several drumsticks. When I got home, I told my mom about it, and she sewed one out of burlap for me. I had this on my drum set and my later set until 1977. When I sold that second set, I gave the stick bag with it. I will always admire Karen’s drumming and love her glorious voice.

❤️❤️❤️ The greatest female singer in history!!! Karen is my favorite female vocalist of all time! Straightforward singing, no gimmicks -- the sweetest & most beautiful voice! I have so many wonderful memories of my life associated with the Carpenters' songs. Karen looked so pretty in her young 20s. What a tragedy what happened to her, no need to have lost any weight. If only she could have seen how beautiful she really was. I never get tired of listening to her songs and hearing her voice. RIP beautiful lady.

This Voice is like Gold...

My dad loved the Carpenters and played them all the time and I really hated them at the time because he was always putting down the music I liked(which of course was harder rock) but now, as an adult, I can hear just how amazing these two were, and without the ego battle between me and my Dad going on, I can appreciate their music a lot more. Karen's voice is remarkable. No one has ever sang with such tenderness and grace. Yes other female singers are more technical and virtoustic, but her delivery and the way she put a song out there is unmatched to this day.

Simply the best voice of all pop music history. Without rival.

Karen had the talent to make these classics uniquely her own. There'll never be another quite like Karen Carpenter.

50 years have now passed since that performance and every time I think of Karen and Richard or play their music I just get sad. They made Earth a better place and life better when they came on the radio. Karen's voice really agreed with me in a way no other singer ever has. Karen is no doubt an angel who eased are pain when she would sing. Richard is brilliant, when you can beat the Beatles out of a Grammy oh my you've really done something. We all miss Karen but no one misses her more then Richard.

The amount of enthusiastic reaction and applause after Rainy Days and Mondays, For All we Know, etc. by the British audience is a stunning and powerful acknowledgement of the talent and respect for Karen Carpenter not given to her memory today. This is a sad commentary on what is regarded as talent today. With Karen it was about interpretation and about the song, not about her as in DIVA opera. She played the drums extremely well several times while singing. To know she was only 21 at this taping is just mind boggling. On the internet they list her as a singer - sure - but she was also a percussionist/ jazz musician.

It’s not just the angelic unique voice of Karen, but also the instrumentation and the beautiful arrangements. It’s the whole package. Some of the best music ever written, recorded, and performed.

The norm at the time on the BBC and American TV (e .g. Band Stand) was for the performances to be lip synced. Karen is so good it was obvious that wasn’t necessary. The fact that she can sound as good on tv, sometimes better, than the recordings is phenomenal.

We've only just begun... it gets you every time -on so many levels. The promise, optimism and irony. Karen blazed so bright, so fast yet who could have predicted.... Still, she is more relevant now than ever.

A pure God-Given talent and we miss her soooo dearly. Taken too early in life. Only way I understand it is that God needs our Angels.

When this concert was recorded at the BBC on 25th September 1971, was anyone who was there at the time, still alive today who can give us memories of the concert and what the atmosphere of the event was like? After listening to it on RU-vid, it was a great show for all concerned, Karen and Richard Carpenter, and their fans in the audience. 😁

IT was year 1995 im in my 2nd year high when i first heard THE CARPENTERS, instantly i was cast undespell by her majestic, golden crystal voice... and since then i was a huge fan of her. I hope I don't sound weird because im a guy...😇💗

I am trying to imagine a young Karen Carpenter today auditioning on AGT. She would have had the entire arena in tears including Simon Cowell. There have been some beyond amazing singers on these shows but Karen still had the best voice ever.

Admittedly, their rendition of "HELP!" seems so much more convincing to me than the original. It beseeches the listener more intensely and affectionately, rather than lecherously. . and it's very sweet, to boot.

Her parents came to a show and her mother said to their manager about all the people coming to see her boy Richard so that's when their manager said no they come to hear Karen SING. Mom was in shock since Richard was always her favorite. What a voice and talent! RIP. We're still listening

How could the rest of us let her leave so soon? No matter how many times I watch this, it brings tears to my eyes. This ethereal creature was so much more than her talents.

Damn!!! Karen was such a natural talent......I just loved absolutely everything about her...Karen was so happy and glowing behind them drums!!! Such a well rounded young lady.....hurts to realize how much pain and loneliness she suffered through.....I wish she had that one person who she had total trust and confidence in. I understand her illness was a secret, lonely disease.....but sometimes, it only takes that one special person to help someone. Might sound stupid, but if I was Karen’s sister, I would have held her hand so tight, wouldn’t have let go of her. I wouldn’t care how long or hard it would have been to find some kind of help early on. When you listen to her here, such a damn shame. She deserved so much more from the people around her. Just can wonder what she would be like today. I’m sure she’d still be genuine, loving with that cute little sense of humor......she would have been a great mom too. I wish Karen got to realize that type of love..... nothing can top the love between a mother and baby. Thank you to everyone that posts these videos. Karen is frozen in time. Karen Carpenter's eyes could pierce steel however not in anger or aggression more so in wisdom. I can only best describe Karen Carpenters eyes as totally mesmerizing. Her stare seemed to pierce through you and no other female music artist could do that. She was so far ahead of her time. I'm a Kiwi [New Zealander] 60 y.o. and have the fondest memories of Karen Carpenter and Carpenters music being played here on radio in those late '60s & '70s when I grew up as a child and young teenager. Karen Carpenter vocals were divine. One of 1. 🙏😇🤩
