exactly! it wasn't just the "sound" of her voice, but how she used it! NO singer ever sang more TO the listener and NOT AT the listener, she had perfect diction and enunciation for every syllable for every word for every song she ever sang, she told the story of the every song beautifully (nowadays singers sing the same way for every song and you couldn't tell the difference in what the song was about!) and how she emoted and phrased the lyrics is unmatched as well....truly a once in a lifetime or two lifetime voice!... her voice IS and always WILL BE christmas, romance and love, both love found and lost...

Ned Nickerson, thank you so much for finding and sharing this sumptuous rendition of The Christmas Song by the unforgettable and irreplaceable Karen Carpenter. Her death at 32 was a profound loss to the music industry and to audiences everywhere. I feel a mixture of sadness and gratitude when I see her performances. She is sorely missed. But thankfully she and the Carpenters' glorious artistry will live forever because of the miracle of technology as provided by You Tube and other essential media.

My favorite singer of all time! I used to sing her songs all the time, but I was intubated last June, caused me to lose my singing voice. Hopefully I can get it back soon so I can sing her songs again!

O MY GOD........Yes.... it's possible to have a voice this beautiful. This is not culmination of the best singers and musicians in the world programming a computer to produce the best voice ever. No it's Karen Carpenter...one girl born in 1950 in California and died 1983......One absolutely marvelous magical singer!!!!

Sadness in my heart overwhelms me every time I hear this version of Caren Carpenter. Missing my parents who went to be with the Lord in 2010. We love Christmas so much but it's never been the same without our parents.

Oh, I did not expect to be experience tears coming here this evening. I wanted to visit the video to remember a song from my childhood with the Carpenters and wrap myself up in the warm beautiful comfort of Karen's voice. I did, but also felt grief at feeling her loss again as if it was fresh and happening now. Damn. Her voice is heaven in song.

Coreen Edwards, I'm 60 and grew up listening to the Carpenters. Their music did the same for me regarding a painful childhood, Coreen. If it wasn't for the sanctuary of their songs I don't think I would've made it. It's amazing how music can be so healing and safe. I hope you were able to recover from your pain. I think we were pretty lucky we had the Carpenters just when we needed them. Best to you, hon.

This brings Christmas ⛄🎄 so close to my heart and family every year in rainy Salem, Oregon. Every year we have baked goods, with all the dogs playing on the floor, my cat on my lap and the family just relaxing by the fireplace talking while Karen sings this in the background, pure Heaven 😇, now she's looking down from that place and getting to see the people she touched with her sweet demeanor and beautiful voice. It's certainly a mystery to me how there could be dislikes to this video. Could it be the quality of the video? It can't be because they don't like the vocal quality of Karen. Perhaps a person from a younger generation who grew up on today's studio -produced/auto-tuned vocalists who can't hold a candle to the purity of Karen's pitch-perfect voice. Perhaps they will someday come to appreciate how special Karen's talent was and come to regret clicking that dislike button. Yes, certainly a mystery to me.

Rick Lee I'm only 11 but I've been hearing Karen's singing since I was a baby. I know this is good music, you know this is good music, but I guess some people prefer Taylor Swift and P!NK and stuff like this, but I will always prefer this kind of artist and her/his music. Sorry, I know it's April, but I was making a Christmas playlist because I didn't get a chance to make one last year. I think you're not crediting a lot of people from said generation you are referring to. There are plenty of people in their mid 20s like myself who have grown up listening to Karen and will continue to do so. Maybe rethink your comment 👍🏻

I'm 23 and she is my all time favorite female vocalist and they are my favorite band! I must admit my generations music is horrible. There is no comparison to the talent of this woman or anyone back in the day for that matter. Because they all harnessed a thing called talent. Except Karen. She literally just has an angel living inside her & that's why her vocal chords are made of harp strings 🤣

A great person and such a warm tender voice, there is no one else like her.
