Carrie did an interview saying she doesn’t even remember singing the last part of the song because she felt the Holy Spirit. She’s a 💯 believer in Christ! She has the voice of an angel! ❤
This wasn’t just a performance…this was a moment. A moment when God used Carrie’s voice to deliver a message as only He can. This was a Christ moment for me!! Bless you Carrie for being a vessel for the Lord!!
I am totally with you on this! I've watched this video over and over again. Every time that I do, I can literally feel the moment when the Holy Spirit entered Carrie's body! Carrie was Heavenly Father's vessel for this song. It truly amazes me. 😇😇😇
I remember seeing that live performance on TV. Vince and Carrie took the world on a journey and absolutely transported us with that performance. Carrie was worshipping the Lord - we were just given the privilege of witnessing that glorious vocal masterpiece. The Holy Spirit shone out of her so brightly it was mind-blowing! How she punctuated every verse with her arm and held those impossibly long notes - absolutely breathtaking! There will never be another performance of How Great Thou Art that will top that PERFECT performance. Carrie said in an interview after that toward the end, the Holy Spirit took over and she has no memory of finishing the song! That is evident if you watch her face with her eyes closed at the end! A musical masterpiece. I am SOOOOOOO grateful that you didn't pause - YOU GUYS are the ONLY reaction video I've watched that understood one doesn't STOP that performance mid-song! Carrie is a very well-known devout Christian! What you heard was her worshipping the Lord - one doesn't phone that in! Go back and watch - the audience gave her a standing ovation about half way through! The camera scales back to show it.
At her American Idol audition Randy Jackson said it best, "how come you aren't famous yet." I am not a Christian but that brought tears to my eyes. Some people are just so gifted.
Carrie is very vocal about her faith, so yes, she’s a believer. This event was a tribute to female artists in the country music industry, that’s why Martina, The Judds, Miranda Lambert (and Blake Shelton), as well as many other Country Music legends were there. I always love watching the reaction of her peers during this show, and I always love watching new reactors find it. Glad you’ve finally heard the power that is Carrie Underwood.
It's a mind blowing performance. She's outstanding. Vince Gill was great as well. He really can play. You should listen to Go Rest High On That Mountain by Vince.
Third.. that is an awesome song by him.. tears.. I know y'all like good singers... and this is a recommendation to listen, not react as they aren't country. But Pentatonix: the live version of Hallelujah ( older song), Amazing Grace and their newest The Prayer.. I may just have to wince though.. I've seen them live, they are just as good.
Vince Gill, as you saw, is an amazing guitarist. He has an extensive music catalogue. And the voice of an angel, IMHO. Any of his songs are great, you can't go wrong. But, his best, I think are, Go Rest High on That Mountain, and When I call your name. He's my favorite country singer, so I am a bit biased.
Carrie Underwood recommendations: Last Name - video, prequel to Before He Cheats Blown Away - video Two Black Cadillacs - video Temporary Home - video Remind Me - video, Duet with Brad Paisley Just A Dream - video Something In The Water - video Choctaw County Affair - live CMA fest Low - live Stephen Colbert show I Told You So - live Grand Ole Opry this is a song she did for her second album which is a remake of a Randy Travis song Cry Pretty - live Grand Ole Opry Keep Us Safe - live Audio or at the Grand Ole Opry Covers: Paradise City - live CMA fest I Will Always Love You - live Storyteller Tour Carrie - ACM Awards Tribute to the Grand Ole Opry’s 95th, it’s a medley of like 6 songs by other country women Carrie - My Savior performance another medley of songs from her gospel album I don’t think you could be disappointed in any of those suggestions! Vince Gill - Go Rest High On That Mountain with Ricky Scaggs and Patty Loveless
Carrie Underwood performing Oh Holy Night. Another powerful performance, perfect for Christmas season reactions. There’s a couple different live performance videos of that one.
Kathy here, Carrie is by far one of the best female singers today. And yes, she is a Christian and so is Vince Gill and his wife Amy. But don't take anything away from Vince Gill. He is one of the most requested artists to play with other artists. His guitar skills are really unmatched. He isn't flashy, but he can play with the best of any others out there. Love your reactions. I will try and find you a bourbon from NC you haven't tried yet!
I'm glad to see that I am not the only one that gets goose bumps hearing Carrie & Ricki's duet singing How Great Thou Art! Every single time, tears flow & goose bumps galore when hearing this song. That was back when it was still TRUE COUNTRY...........................GOD, FAMILY, AND COUNTRY!!! Not what it has turned into now! How many people noticed that the number of people on their feet applauding while Carrie was still singing? That is because their FAITH IN GOD WAS BEING SHOWN! I miss those days, the REAL COUNTRY. Another extremely moving song is when Wynonna Judd sings, "I Can Only Imagine". She puts her heart and soul into it and just moves through you and touches your heart.
That feeling your having..... it's called the Holy Ghost. I am soooo glad you didn't stop the video, it means you were not only watching, but you were feeling the power of God in a song.
Love this reaction! So glad you got to see that her talent is real. She has a whole gospel album out called, "My Savior." It's full of old hymns, including this and Amazing Grace. (Did you notice Martina in the audience?)
Vince gill sings go rest high on that mountain which to me is the equivalent of this song by carrie.Carrie did sing a tribute to martina. She sang martinis broken wing.Give it a listen its great.
Carrie Underwood is THE best female vocalist of all time, all genres. Listen to the VERY young Carrie sing Heart “Alone” when she was on American idol.
They actually gave them a standing ovation before the end of the song, doesn't happen very often, that young lady can sing, Huge Vince Gill fan, check out is playing at Clal cross
I'm 64, old guy, I have listened to that version more than 100 times, in the last 4-5 years, I plan on listening it to it 500 more times at least in my life, it still brings tears to my eyes, as it did just now listening to it with you. I have a list of 30 songs I call the list top ones only, cause the one I have called favorites got too big, in this list of 30 songs all but 6 are female signers. So I am with you about female singers.
Dustin dawg how'd you like them pipes? 😁 That audience was her peers in country music. She had them crying and on their feet. Martina was up on her feet. She did Martina on American Idol. Vince Gill showed a little of the guitar. Great song. Thank you.
Carrie is one of my favorites! She mentioned in her american idol audition that martina mcbride was her favorite singer, and you can hear it in her performances. You need to check out her performance at the 2009 CMA awards "I told you so" it's amazing!
This is the ONLY version I’ve listened to and continue to listen to since it aired. Unlimited lungs Carrie Underwood. The Holy Spirit was on the stage that night! 🙌🏼
Just found this two years later but I watched this county special show live when it was on TV and Carrie was supposed to sing with Martina and several other big country females in a skit later in the show but she strained her voice doing this song so in the skit, Carrie just stood with the ladies and they took their turns singing their part, Martina sung twice and sang Carries part for her. Not sure you can find that clip somewhere but I’m sure it’s out there. I still get emotional every time with this performance.
Just found it, it’s Women of country sing Coalminers Daughter. They pay homage to Lorretta Lynn and it’s Carrie, Martina, Reba, The Judds, Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland and Miranda Lambert. My memory was off cause I think all sing a second time so not sure who sings Carries part.
This is my favorite gospel song and it brings me to tears when it starts. I chose Carries version to be played at my Mom's funeral and somehow Carrie got me through it! God bless!
The Video for The Champion is pure motivational. This was the song used as the intro for Superbowl 52 and the Olympics. You need a do-over even if you don't do a reaction. It's worth it.
Yay!!!!! So glad y’all reacted to this!!! As said, the CyberIntelligence situ prohibits much social media- but I’ll never steer ya wrong😉 Native Nashvillian, btw. If you wanna see Carrie cover/tribute Martina plus Reba & Patsy Cline, watch Carrie’s performance at the 2020 ACM Awards’ tribute to the Grand Ol Opry’s 95th Anniversary. Another FANTASTIC live performance by Carrie, even in the awkwardness of an empty house courtesy of COVID🙄 For the Season- check out the new song & animated video Carrie just dropped 2 weeks ago: *Stretchy Pants*. Soooo much fun and her vocals are STILL incredible!!! As always- great reaction! Stay safe & love much💖
Carrie is awesome. She auditioned with Independence Day by Martina when she went on American Idol. I'm a big fan of Smoke Break, Cry Pretty, and Drinking Alone is amazing. Looking forward to more.
Yes Carrie is a christain so is her husband Mike Fisher who was a NHL player. When they were dating/engaged whenever one was on the road they would video chat bible devotions together and pray for each other.
Carrie has so many amazing songs, most of which are even better live than studio. (You must of found the only poor live performance of hers with The Champion). Amazing story telling. Jesus take the Wheel; Blown Away; Church Bells; Just a Dream; Cry Pretty. The list is endless, really.
That was NOT a poor performance ( Champion). And I’d recommend Something In the Water, if you’d like to experience more of her singing through her faith. I am ADDICTED to this young lady and her beautiful way of expressing her faith. And I’m an atheist. 😂
Vote for a live performance of Low (if you do the Colbert performance just please keep in mind she did this show right after a tour date) and Cry Pretty (i like all of them but her “return” performance on ACMs with this song is amazing! This was great and is just a start of seeing what she is capable of. For Dustin and his harmonica soft spot- live performance of Chactow County Affair- she rocks the harmonica! Also, fun fact- she has said Martina McBride was her inspiration when she was singing into a hairbrush in her bedroom growing up.
Leann - some people. Truly amazing range, reastraint at the right moments and belting to drive you home. I tear up at this song. Also Leann - Probably Wouldn’t Be This Way. Gets you in the feels in a way Martina and Carrie can reach you. Blue was her first hit- I actually think she got much stronger with later songs but it is still an awesome tune. Another powerhouse female vocalist for sure!
Watching this again because one I love the song, and two I love your reaction to this song. Requesting 'Forever Country' again. Carrie, Martina, Faith, Trisha Yearwood, Dolly Parton and many more artists, no legends, on a 3 song mashup celebrating country music.
You should listen to Home Free do this song. They are an a-capella group. Their harmonies are awesome. And the beatboxer is among the top in the world.
I LOVE this video... I have listened to it so many times. She is fantastic!!!!!! She is such a powerful singer. That is why she won American Idol. Love her and love your reactions.
I've always loved the power in Carrie's voice. I've never been a fan of Vince Gill's voice, but I liked his background vocals in this....and I never knew he was so great at playing guitar.
He has one of the purest tenor voices. When "the Eagles", who already have Timothy B., ask you to join; you gotta be pretty good. Vince has been with them for at least 4 years!
You guys just got a first time visitor to subscribe - if for NO other reason than that you DIDN’T stop it to comment, and you stated WHY you didn’t : “You just don’t (can’t?) stop that,” Bravo. I wish more reactors would think the way you do - at least where a performance like this one is concerned. You DO. NOT. STOP. that performance to CHAT. 👍🏻
Sometimes ya just gotta let the music move through you and leave it at that. Carrie's " Just A Dream" is one you'll like, I suggest the official video for a good understanding of the lyrical content. One of her early hits is also well done "Jesus Take the Wheel"
Church bells is one of my all time favorite song from her and watching her live is amazing because she get the whole crowd into the performance so please react to Church Bells
Thank you for not stopping to comment. I happened to have been working on this and during the first time in rehearsal Carrie and Vince barely got all the way though it. I wept and it hard for me to believe you didn't. Listen to her sing "Jesus Take the Wheel" but listen to the words and DO NOT STOP TO COMMENT UNTIL IT'S OVER.
@@BourbonCountryReacts Your very welcome. The combo cma performance with Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake is good also.Do you guys know about the yt channel called the try channel? They just did a segment trying whiskey and bourbon you may be interested in.
Slowly working my way back through your catalog. Love Carrie Underwood but, honestly, the best part of this video was watching the super cool Keith come undone.
