VERY good to see GB and especially the RN back in the Far East - and looking very good. Also nice that our allies are with us. These multi-national cruises are a huge bridge builder at the operational level, of that there can be no doubt.

@@loosabarba6920 No--- The Royal Navy cooperates with the US Navy, among others, but the chain of command goes to the First Lord of the Admiralty and then the Prime Minister of Britain.

@@vtbmwbiker so HMS don’t have to follow the orders from the US during cooperation then. Or HMS follow the order from whoever is the commander of cooperation
@vtbmwbiker
@vtbmwbiker 3 года назад
@@loosabarba6920 That depends on what the chain of command is and what's determined at the governmental level. There've been plenty of instances where allied forces have a joint command structure. For instance, during World War Two, the Chinese Nationalist Forces under Chiang Kai- Shek had as their commander, US General Joseph Stilwell and the training of the Nationalist Air Force was under Claire Chennault.

It is Zr Ms Evertsen, a Zeven Proviciën class frigate. Her particular function in the CSG21 is air defence. I beleive that the Dutch frigate De Ruyter originally was ear marked to participate in CSG21, but Evertsen who was on patrol in the Black Sea together with HMS Defender (in order to annoy the Russians a little bit), joined HMS Queen Elizabeth an the rest of the fleet right outside Crete. As I understand it will a Dutch vessel always participate in the CSGs for the future.

As long as the global strategic situation regarding China is what it is, the plan is the following: America needs some support when it comes to naval presence in the Indo-Pacific region. Europe will very shortly have three carrier strike groups ready - and these groups will rotate, so that one CSG always will be present in theatre. The carriers are of course QE, PoW and CdG. Well, that's the plan, anyway.

@davidhouseman4328 3 года назад
Definitely not when we only have two. The UK is the first concern but we will deploy to the SCS when needed. Unless you talking about the cruise liner QEII, the carrier is just QE.

@Brett Mitchell Of course we'd love an order like that but it isn't happening. And honestly I think they'd be better off running F35B's from a couple of Canberra type ships. Still great interoperability but works better as a sovereign capability.
@TheLAGopher

@Brett Mitchell Don't think Australia wants its own nuclear deterrent. The French submarine order was greased by the French agreeing to them being assembled in Australian shipyards. Don't know if the UK and its shipworker unions would be ok with sending kits down under and missing out on thousands of jobs. Australia might be best off using its forces to augment visiting allied ones, especially the UK or French who would find it harder to support a large escort force going to the Pacific with their carriers than the US. ANZAC ships are tailor-made to pick up the escort slack for a NATO Pacific naval deployment.

They can't they don't have the logics for it. The uk as it's own bases along it's route to resupply from and when they aren't supplying from British bases they are supplying from bases of allied nations or nations with mutual interests. The last time I checked China doesn't have any bases in the Mediterranean/Atlantic region and most nations in said regions are either Nato allies or not interested in allowing China into its ports the occasional warship on a goodwill visit yeah not an entire carrier strike group though.
