Those original Honeywell dampers are prone to stick closed that is probably why someone disconnected it. I would recommend quoting two new updated damper motors they are super easy to replace just the motor
@DJV94022
@DJV94022 Год назад
Exactly the dampers its self are good quality unless the system was introduced to moisture or salt water which is rare or the damper was dropped at install making it oval..but other then damage changing the damper motor to the new one with needles is the best thing on the market

Nice work figuring it out John. If you don't see something often it's hard to be good at it. I appreciate the fact you said you weren't an expert at zoning as we all have things or areas we could learn more about. Thanks for sharing 🛠️👍

You did good, zone is easy once you understand the flow.

Yeah as soon as you unplug the 20 Four-power on the old one and plug it back in. It looks exactly the same as this new one you just put on

Took me awhile to understand zoning It’s pretty simple once u figured it out. It can get kinda tricky if they are using multiple damper’s for 1 zone , meaning just more wire’s to trace 😂😂😂 Whenever I go to a zoning call I never been to, first thing I do it test make sure it’s working right. Good job bro

Same cause it be like this Usually 2 dampers 1 for upstairs and the other for downstairs Then you see the: Two dampers for upstairs One for downstairs Meaning the two up stairs get to go to the same zone (which the honeywell has only 4 holes for the wires) per each zone Then you have people naming the upstairs zone 1 and the downstairs zone 2 which is confusing af I rather name down stairs zone 1 and upstairs zone 2

Hey John the reason for the zones are that each thermostat goes to each room and when the thermostat in a room that zone will only turn the unit on for that room !!!!! Unless there all calling at once !!

Some times you don't need to be a pro at everything when common sense goes a long way too ... Thx for posting ...

Where I live, if park in the wrong zone, you get a parking ticket. 😅😅 But seriously, good repair! The installation of that system made me cringe.

Zoning is more for technology geeks The word zoning means: The house has 2 or more dampers If the house has dampers it means it will have 2 thermostats atleast... If the house has two thermostats and no zone board that just means one thermostat is the real one and the other one is just for easy access if you dont feel like walking to the other one (is the way i see it) which at the point your entire hvac system will be running non stop cause its sensing 2 different temps to switch on and off constantly Also zoning is to save money Your suppose to set the different zones to 2 degrees (+/-) different if you going to have matching temps then you are wasting the entire zone capability/function

"I don't know much (about zoning)......... but I know I love you (Carrier)". LOL, I dunno, sounded funny in my head, I'm bored. I just got off work from adding central AC to an existing Goodman forced air system along with a few new runs and returns to a recent addition. Thanks for the video, John!

Zoning is actually easy. Just think of the board as your thermostat.

We had zoning at the one place I owned and we liked it. We did it mainly for the renters downstairs. They liked to control their space. After we got rid of renters I gotta admit it was still nice to keep most of the cool air upstairs. As much as possible. If ya ask me it’s an extra hassle if it quits working.

I would suggest using your meter. It’s your best friend on them.

The 2 people you mentioned ought to be the obvious candidates to teach you more about zoning. And if they say no, there's always your mascot 😉.

But that basically means all you had to do originally was I'm plugged 24 V and then plugged 24 bolt back in and they probably wouldn't worked fine. It's probably they replaced the battery in the upstairs thermostat
@4thlinegooner582
@4thlinegooner582 Год назад
You should've checked your 24v. If you're trying to run all that zoning plus 2 thermostats off the factory transformer, it's too much VA. Always separate the zoning using a second transformer. That VA drop does weird things to those boards.
@johnisraelhvac2019

The zone board had its own transformer

We do a ton of zoning up here in new england. It does work great if sized and installed properly. Alot of customers dont want the hassle of dealing with 2 systems even tho im with you john as far as one for the 1st floor one for the 2nd floor.

The pro of that is if one zone wants heat while its summer time they can have it while the upstairs is freezing they balls off

When a thermostat calls that zone will turn on sorry

Those green light are always on zone 1 2 3 it changes to red when one is calling and either the heat or cool led on the other side will light up
@joeshearer1247

Actually I take that back I think when zone 1 calls it stays green and the other two change to red signaling they closed
@joeshearer1247
