CASE 580C BACKHOE - How to get a backhoe unstuck in the mud (HD)

** this may not be the safest method but I have made it work for me **
The left front wheel gets buried in the mud while I was driving down my road with a full load of dirt . After getting stuck like this a few times I figured an easy way out. It requires sliding something to stabilize both stabs (although I only had to support one this time). Its easy to do once you learn how.

Beating a dead horse here, but as mentioned brasmussen81 your concept was right on track, but you do not need to lift as high. Like mentioned either don't lift or just lift the outriggers so they keep you from tipping over. I usually try to pull strait back first before setting over if I can. My first go to action is to try and "bucket out" if I can. Lift your front bucket and curl it open than lower it to lift the front of the loader. While you curl the bucket closed and reverse this can sometimes push you back out of the hole and your front tire is lifted. This just saves me from having to unfold the hoe if I don't have to.

You did fine. You don't need to lift up so high, though. Also, you didn't have to raise your stabilizers up when you shifted over, either. Now, what I would do is unlock the boom, extend it out and try to back out of it. The weight of the boom will give you enough traction most of the time in situations like that. If your differential lock works, it can make a world of difference as well, which you may already know.

I've been running equipment for many years and getting stuck almost as long. I was just wondering why you put your outriggers down so much. Next time this happens to ya, lower them enough to keep your self from tipping over, and don't raise yourself up so high.

Obviously, if you don't wanna go forward, then pull instead of push. It's at times more difficult to pull, depending on the mud, you may need to turn the front bucket over and use it to help by pushing while you pull with the back. That's what has always worked for me, anyway. Again, you did fine, though so I wouldn't worry too much about what some people are saying. The RPM's you were running were fine, too. Where I worked, we were trained to run the backhoes at full throttle and it was easier

to control them, if you have any ability at all. We dug around all types of lines and utilities all day, every day. Anyway, that 580C looks like she's in pretty good shape for her age. The oldest I ran was a 580E, newest were a 580M's. Mostly a 580 Super L with Ride Control (fancy haha) and I loved that machine.

it's done all the time, they're made of steel for a reason, not legos. when you're working these things, you're usually not in an area where "help" is available, except a dozer or trackhoe. do what needs done, people running these things usually have a lick or two of common sense about them and generally know the risks and consequences. sure, could have been a bit smoother, but he got the job done.

Good job, you got the machine out nothing damage and no one hurt. thumbs up.

Hey dude, that machine is capable of “walking on it’s buckets” through terrain way worse than that!

You're not an idiot. Everyone has to learn, and at least you're listening to all the unsolicited advice. One thing I noticed is that you took off with the boom hanging. You do know how to lock the boom into travel position, don't you?

That tractor was not stuck to begin with. I have jumped more ditches with buckets full gravel than i care to remember. Put the bucket down flat and use it as sled runner both ways.......

dickdog75 that was cool. I haven't operated a Case in several years. I enjoyed your video. Smooth. I work exploration drill-rig support, and my crew is two brothers whom are learning to operate hoes. I give them pointers then leave them to their own. We have three, a Deere 310, and two cats, 416B&C. We prefer the Deere, lighter not as heavy as the Cat.You did everything right in my book. Good job, and your machine appears to be in well-kept condition. Me, I enjoy my job, I operate blade.

@stevestew11 post negative comments somewhere else. people that call other people idiots on youtube are usually pussies who act tough on their couch. want to impress me? post your own video. at least post one video up on youtube. come on... lets see your skills

Please.... All of that was un-necessary. I have gotten hoes out of much worse using just the front and rear buckets.
