85 series Case International brake system repair. 885 model in particular, but I believe the brake system on this and some other series are all similar. I found an article on Red Power Magazine,
www.redpowerma...
where I got the info, and I shot this video to
accompany it. Feel free to ask any questions.
UPDATE
This worked like a champ. Once everything was back together I bled the brakes with a harbor freight brake bleeder and now I've got brakes again.

Thank you so much! I have been struggling with a freakish brake bleed malfunction problem. This would seem to explain it all thought I have an older version of the reservoir on a 784. I cant wait to check this out in the morning!

If you've ever wondered if creating a video like this one makes any difference. It does. My 685 with only 2,100 hrs lost ALL braking over the past winter. I tried several solutions - none worked until I spotted your video. To be sure, removing and replacing this reservoir is no small task. There is almost no clearance for hands or tools under the dash. I ended up removing the hood and the battery box just to gain access. The 'return' line stand pipe was out of the reservoir by 3/8 - to 1/2". Further, one of the small brake cylinder standpipes was out about 1/8". I super glued all of them back in after a clean up. Reinstalled, bled brakes following CASE instructions - got the best brake pedal I've ever had with this tractor. Thank you for your effort.

That's why I started doing it. I had such a hard time figuring things out on my own with the whole farm start-up, I figured folks out there could use some hard-earned wisdom. Thanks for the comment.

Thank you! I lost all brakes on my Case IH 895xl. Took it apart to day, and indeed the steel pipes had slid down on both return and pressure side. Thank you from Norway!

You're absolutely right no info on this at all, even in the maintenance manual there is a blank on the brake system, thank you so much from Cornwall England

Just had today a local Case dealer on the phone and he told me exact the same what I have with my case tractor. Many thanks for visualizing this before I take it apart. 👌

Thanks much. Hey, it makes the job a whole lot easier if you go ahead and take out the battery tray.

Hope it helps. Very rarely do the seals inside the axle brake assembly fail, so 9 out of 10 problems you will have involve all that mess down there below the steering wheel assembly. Then bleeding the brakes of course, but that's fairly simple.

It might be easier to do the whole thing if you pull out the battery tray. I need to replace all the rubber lines on the reservoir, and I'm going to go that route.
