I've cast and shot many zinc bullets over the years since I first saw this video . Mainly in the 300 blk . Once I got a SAECO pot and started using steel molds , it's not that bad of a process . Just wanted to say thanks .
Thanks Elvis!, I got a hollow point mold on the way, since the 9mm's did great in the part 2 video. If possible I would like to send you some zinc HP's for some balastic gel testing. though I dont have a FB.. lol Thanks for the support brother! That was a good chat today on the podcast!
Ozark Spirit, I thought the same ha! never tried. Need to get me one... I managed to find the right technic to cast with these 2024 aluminium molds without damage. Doing more of these testing soon. Really happy with the 9mm 1800 FPS results and the 300AAC shooting near 5.56 velocity with just about an inch grouping. LMK whatcha think about those vids. Thanks for dropping by!
You need a cast iron pot. The old saeco and the old lyman #61 are cast iron bottom pour pots. I won 3 bids on ebay so I know have 3 of them, I need to test and restore them. Will remove the thermostat and connect direct to a PID controller.
You should check out the captain on cast boolits, she'll do fire sales with lead at $1 a pound and she puts it in a usps bulk rate box, but keep doing zinc too!
*Lyman, SAECO, and RCBS make Steel block bullet molds. Or, you could buy Berry's or Rainier copper plated lead TMJ or HOLLOW POINT 'for a fair price' and just load them in like manner to jacketed bullets.*
I really wanted to try zinc but my pots are lee and all my molds are lee. Dont really want to ruin them. Guess ill stick to lead until i cant get sny more.
Realy huh 🤔thats interesting so you can shoot plain zinc out of any gun. do they size well and have you tried hi-teck coating or powder coating the zinc bullets?
I made some zink 9mm bullets I sent some of them over to Mr. Elvis Ammo cast zink is a pain in the ass butt it is possible but I would not use a noe mold my Freind use a two camber lee
I would say zinc is harder on your barrel then copper. Copper bullets are harder on the outside but soft on the inside and zinc is the same hardness all the way through
