I've tried both the Adineko and the Black Fountain; as far as features, the BF has an exp pedal control on repeats, which can be useful, and does function well. Like many in the last decade, I went through the full range of popular Tape style delays before deciding that the Oil Can was more my thing; IMO, to my ears, the difference is the quality of the attack, and the parameters of the tonal range of repeats. The O.C.'s can be made more tight and mid range, defining the amount of space consumed,- it's a difficult difference to explain. For the Psychedelic/ Garage style I pursue, it's the more dialed in option. Of the two, I'd say the CB has the better fidelity and clarity, sounding truer to what the real deal seems to do, as well. The BF prob has more of the broad Tape ambience, almost a crossover. But they are both solid efforts, and OBN always do their own thing, and go their own way, making for some unique potential voices. Good choice of pedals to review; more people should be made aware of this style of circuit.
The little text scrolling past when you're talking about the preamp is only half right: if you have the internal switch set to bypass, then the preamp will be disengaged when the pedal is off, but if you have it set to trails then it will be engaged whether the pedal is on or off (and the echoes will continue to naturally decay instead of abruptly stopping when you switch it off).
+Joshua Stein thats a good and tricky question...I LOVE both pedals...the Black Fountain is brilliant - as is the Adineko! They both sound quite different though...which one has gotten closer to an actual oil can delay I don't know as I've never actually used one...but to me the Black Fountain sounds more like a really good 'analog delay' (one of the best in my opinion)...the Adineko is not really a straight delay...it's more an 'ambience' reverb/delay kinda thing...hard to explain...I think we will have to do a shootout between the two to hear them side by side! Thanks for the question and stay tuned for the shootout!!
+Chris Kunstadt Its a bit different to a "normal" delay pedal...I guess it all depends on what you want to do with the delay...the Adineko is definitely (in my opinion anyways) great at ambient sounds...it can do fairly straight forward delay stuff too but if you want something very versatile that can cover lots of different areas it may not be the right delay!
