Catch Fish in the Thames Estuary: RAINHAM - ‘The Bin’ and Tilda’s

One of a series on shore fishing in the Thames Estuary (UK).
This video covers two daytime fishing sessions at Rainham, UK (filmed in July 2020). The stretch at 'The Bin' and Tilda's is best known for bass, which I target in the first session and eventually end up being successful for, having changed tactics and location for the second. The general approach to catching them here and the different rigs used are covered.

Just rewatching a few of your RU-vids , one reason is I seem to be talking myself into the Arcadia! But I must say you pack so much in, I’m picking up on new stuff second time around. Do hope you have a great year now we appear to soon be released. Oh have you been to Pennington sea wall yet? You mentioned it to me last year?
@rodsangleuk6283
@rodsangleuk6283 3 года назад
The Arcadia is a great rod - very versatile, unless you're trying to hit the moon with a ton of lead! Looking forward to fishing Pennington sea wall once lockdown travel restrictions are lifted - not looking forward to the walks though! Thanks for your comment and interest Martin.

Great videos as always, thank you Rod. Gave Tilda's a go recently - no joy but I only had frozen bait as fresh lug or rag is hard to come by at the moment. Warning: it's extremely muddy!! Normally I fish in Purbeck where mud is less of an issue...talking of which, your videos on Studland for the summer species are great: do you rate that as a winter venue too?
@rodsangleuk6283
@rodsangleuk6283 3 года назад
Thanks for that - yes, most of the tidal Thames is very muddy, like most estuaries, but you don't always need to get down to the mud; however if you are fishing at low tide, in places you will be dragging fish in over the mud and have to be very careful how you return them. I haven't fished Studland in the winter yet; however Shell Bay used to be known for flounders, so depending on the restrictions in place, I'll have to give it a go sometime. Thanks for watching and the info.

@rodsangleuk6283

Thanks, do you think they spawn in the rivers like the Thames and the Medway, or do they breed in deep water and migrate up the river. Was there any roe in those two mature you caught? RodsAngleUK in your opinion do estuaries ,like the Thames ,fish well on the smaller tides?
@rodsangleuk6283
@rodsangleuk6283 3 года назад
Not necessarily better than on spring tides; but you get more time to fish over low water, since the tide doesn't go out so far and if you choose your spot carefully, you won't have to pull fish over mud to get them in.
