Her smile comes so easily, warm and genuine. Even without her talent people would congregate around her in hopes she's smile in their direction. I might be projecting.
Caterina Valente - A stunning artist, incredible skilled. No matter, if in many German films of the 50s, or worldwide on the stage/TV shows....what a woman, what a time. The world today is against simply unsupportable.....
Spectacular, brilliant, charming, mega, hyper talented, sensational, musical, artistic phenomenon !!! People this person was not from this world! There are no words that define so much talent. I never imagined that there was an artist as perfect as Caterina Valente.❤️🥺👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
And a real gem especially for those of us who just recently (like in the past few hours) stumbled upon this woman and her talent. Adapting the children’s songs to Bossa Nova and Jobim works surprisingly well. Kaye could sometimes come across as slightly cloying but not here. He’s a gentle and responsive accompanist to Caterina.
This number is brilliant from start to finish. Valente and Kaye make it look so easy - but it's not. The keys are constantly changing and the melodies intersect at just the right time. The backing vocals are delicate and perfectly balanced. And what about Valente's skilled guitar playing. I love seeing Danny in this gentle, relaxed mode. Thank you!
Ah u guys are being technical... Valente has probably the best "feel" for Bossa of any non-Brasilian i've heard (and she was raised in Germany), however the rest is rather mechanical... including K. i love DK but Bossa feel is beyond the Anglo Saxon, sorry, it's the opposite of their cultural spectrum (why Anglos can't dance to save their life and ranked as the worst lovers etc etc).
At 3:00 it seems a lead guitar is added, but it isn't Caterina. It's so imperceptible, but look closely at Caterina's hands at 4:06. Listen closely to the lead guitar line and watch Caterina's fingers afterwards. Still, great performance. I'd be amazed if she could concentrate on those guitar lines and the lyrics.
They are so Addictive, im kinda new back in Bossa Nova - she is SO Talented, Funny and Charming. I’m in my 40s and should be listening to Rock today, but this is SO much better - and positive too!
She was unbelievably talented. She could sing jazz like Ella, tap like Sammy (although not as well as Eleanor), play jazz guitar and do comedy in 7 languages.
@@MRG09100 Thank You!,👏🙏👏👊👏👏👏 Always bugs me (and I honestly finds it a bit disrespectful when) bananas when Performers and Artists Who are Still With Us are referred to in the past .. 🤦♂️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤷♂️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🙄😬😬😬🤷♀️
Sem dúvida uma das grandes cantoras de música ligeira do século XX - talvez mesmo a melhor. E a primeira poliglota, capaz de cantar em português, alemão, inglês, francês, italiano e castelhano. E belíssima mulher também!
They make it look and sound so easy. But bossa nova is actually a very sophisticated form of Latin jazz, and I'm sure every move these two made was choreographed. But you wouldn't know it. Excellent.
Thanks Alan, for another wonderful 'blast from the past'. Caterina, 87, is still hanging in there. Danny had the quick wit and multiple talents needed to thrive on live TV, and so many other accomplishments it seemed almost unfair one guy could be so gifted.
Thank you, thank you, Alan, for making this available to us. I was transfixed, watching it, and for seven minutes and three seconds I was completely absorbed. Aw, it makes me so wistful for another time. And this video stands the test of time. Again, thank you.
Such wonderful talent, charm and humour. What more could you ask for? There are many talented people in the world today of course but real, beautiful charm seems to be missing.
More PROOF that I have *not* been wrong all these years: *Caterina, Judy Garland, Danny Kaye, and Frank Sinatra WERE THE top entertainers & talents of the 20th Century.* For dance, of course, Fred Astaire & Gene Kelly belong in their own category.
Thank you for listing all this out!! I’m 22 and as an aspiring musician I have been searching for music that speaks to me and I’m going to study all these icons
You should ask yourself why you don't have the Nicholas Brothers in there? and how the expression "white men can't dance" exists, and why there is no equivalent today of "Astaire and Kelly" and is you list the genre's of dance today they all go back to the Latin world.. you can start with the title of this vid...
