I ain't been watching his videos no more than a month but I know he is the best catfisher in the world...this dude is true blue catfisher..he even talks to the catfish
If like to compliment you on your ability to sling probably over a half pound of weight, including the bulkiness, a freaking mile! That's something that only comes via many many hours of fishing experience because most people couldn't even begin to get half that far or use a boat to drop their lines then drift back. All I can say is that anyone watching these videos, the man knows what he's doing! Thanks for sharing Dave.. I hope we get to see you catch the next World Record Blue Cat!
Cats are easy to catch once you learn the basics, have to remember some will be like catching a submarine so everything has to be strong or be willing to play it down over a longer time. Drag setting is very important..
That's a got yo ass video..I just love it..I've been fishing all my life and I ain't caught no catfish as big as this man catches...he is a pro......got yo ass
Looks like your having a good morning, before it got to hot to fish.I was just around the corner downstream from there fishing out of a boat Friday night till 12 oclock on Saturday.I was anchored in 52 feet of water and fishing 8 rods around the boat. I landed several 38 inch to 41 inch blues plus numerous smaller blues using 4 inch live goldfish. At 4.30 in the morning I took a 10 inch live horney head and tossed it about 15 feet from the rocky shoreline and landed a 44 inch super fat flathead. He started pecking on my rod like a little dink and I opened up my bail and let him run about 20 feet before I set the hook. I believe they run along the rocky shoreline looking for crawfish to eat.At 830 I started suspend fishing live goldfish and the smaller blues hammered them nonstop till 12.30 then they quit biting and I was glad because I was about to have a heatstroke till I jumped in and cooled off. Saturday night I anchor fished Chickamauga in 30 feet of water till midnight and couldn't buy a bite.I pulled up anchor and moved onto a flat close to the drop off in 10 feet of water and had nonstop action all night till 12 30 sunday afternoon ,then I sadly had to pack my bags back home. Three of the blues were over 34 inches, and putting weight on fast. The flathead I caught on wattsbar was covered with those little small lice.I didn't get 2 hours sleep in two days and nights and had to drink a gallon of coffee to make it home.Sunday the last blue I caught when it was close to the boat a gar was following it and the goldfish had slid up the line a couple of feet and he kept trying to rip it off my line and the line got wrapped around his snoot and I had to grab him before I could grab the blue and his toothy snoot hit my hand and tore a small chunk out of my palm.I would of loved to of had it on video.Ill have to be happy watching you and other people fish on you tube till another month goes by.I enjoy your videos very much.I hope someday you catch a state record. It will probably come out of loudon.
Fixin to move from the KY down to Luttrell. Watching all your videos man!! Thanks. Helping me get to know the area...YO Up here most lakes, the way the rock is, when you try to get it out over the drop into the deeper water, whoops, hung up every time. Cumberland you can, Green you can but Dale Hollow, Herrington Cedar Creek Taylorsville, cave run barren it'd be a problem strategy no doubt. If you would keep being clear about where you are as if a person had never been there b4 that'd be great good luck man!! Happy Damn Fishin Gilligan OUT
Hey I moved form UPSTATE NY the land of lakes to NM the land of .....well I'll leave that one alone. You have to try every pond , river and creek to find what you want.. As of 2021 I'm still looking but I'm getting real closes. Hang in there. It gets better.
Hi Dave nice video I really enjoyed it. You ever have any luck down the road a ways at the concord piers? I know you’re a shore fisherman but I’m just curious. I’ve always seen and talked to guys down there catfishing but never personally seen anyone haul one in over 5-10lbs.
I can tell you, a decent rod will cost $35 Rippin Lips Super Cat M, or Team Catfish Thunder Cat $70 and a budget reel like KastKing Rover 60 will be $51, good line like Sufix 832 Advanced Superline Braid 30 lb $18, leader line Berkley Big Game 30 $7, hooks, Gamakatsu Circle Offset Point Octopus 7/0 $7 for 6, few dollars for swivels, floats etc.
Thanks, a lot of people need a little direction. You can be overwhelmed when looking at fishing stuff. I learned a lot from the professionals who do fishing guide services and others experiences. We need to help each other out.
@@AdmiralBirdy As a former guide and tournament Angler I completely agree. A person can spend a small fortune on fishing gear. So when I read your breakdown I thought it was about as reasonable as a person could get for what you listed. And people can pick up decent Rod's and reels from yard sales but, they better know what they're looking at as well because it's not all good deals. Stay safe out there and best of luck to you!
Another thing people need to know is knots. I use the snell (If eye is slanted) and palomar if it's straight on the hook to leader, double surgeon with loop on the swivel end of leader, (swivel is Jshanmei snap rolling stainless steel with Duo-Lock #4) and a palomar knot to tie on the swivel. My favorite setup is the Santee Rig with no roll weight for catfish. The drag on most any reel is not that high even at max.
c'mon Dave, I know the big ones don't do so well in grease (I personally release everything from 10 lbs. and up), but there were two in that bunch that would have done real nice...lol. I just found your channel, and I enjoy your videos.
I keep everything 10 pounds and up for eating. I filet mine and bake them the way my grandfather shown me and it's delicious. I live on what I catch or kill to cut down on food costs. Alot of stores charge outrageous prices on meat these days and alot of what you get is low quality meat for a rich man's price.
green sea turtles are so over populated now that they're a menace to fisherman and the reef. stupid tree hugging leftist liberal scum outdated laws still won't allow us to harvest. They are destroying the reefs!
