This man is a saint. I wish all judges were like this man. This man chooses to see the good in people. He cares about people which is one in a million person. This man, should be a mirror for any judge, who sits on the bench. True sympathy and true empathy this man has.

That first case.. that mom must be proud of her son. He is very well spoken and takes responsibility! He's got a very bright future!

Empathy, humility, fairness, and a little humor make a truly unique judge.

When I was driving in the US as a tourist from Germany, I was very afraid of getting stopped for speeding or the like. I must admit, Judge Caprio is the most generous and fair judge I ever saw on TV. I like his human approach and the respect for the people. It is a pleasure watching him. And what I found on Wikipedia about the person Judge Caprio only substantiates what I thought from the beginning. You have my deepest respect, I wish you all the best, Your Honor. The box truck argument was spot on! Judge had it totally wrong. How could he not tell the difference in his vantage point, the camera being high up on a pole, and her vantage point, four feet off the ground?

It's amazing how no traffic violation seems to ever be the motorist's fault. If you allegedly can't see the color of the traffic light because there is a large truck in front of you then it's your duty as a responsible, safe motorist to slow down, get some distance on the obstruction in front, and then determine the color of the traffic signal before just blindly following behind.

As for the lady at the end, that tried to explain that she couldn't see the light because the truck was blocking it...I've had that happen to me as well, the truck just blocks your view of the light bar and you would need a few extra car lengths of spacing to clear the view due to the truck being so tall. Glad she didn't have to payout even if the judge didn't get it.

Why does the person facing the judge at 10.25 min behave like this? He is very angry, rude, clumsy and arrogant! Yet he is fortunate to be facing an extraordinary judge. Needless to mention the innumerable qualities of this one. He has the right to defend himself and to put forward his arguments, but his behavior is not acceptable. Despite everything, the judge does not get angry, does not punish him, speaks to him without raising his voice (while he continues to speak to the judge with arrogance), ... So that he could legitimately imprison him! WHAT AN EXTRAORDINARY PERSON! He shines with his exemplary behavior. I admire him so much! At one time, I would have got angry watching the defender's behavior. Today, I feel sorry for him and my emotions do not take over and I feel calm despite the situation. Thanks to the education of Mr. Judge. He is much more than a "simple" judge (simple in the positive sense, no negative interpretation). It is a model to follow. It is an example of clairvoyance. He is a MAGNANIME judge! May God bless you. May he protect you and those you love, may he enrich you with all the kinds of wealth that you desire. May he grant you whatever you can imagine. May he open the doors of paradise to you for eternity and may never in your life be touched by great sadness or injustice. I love you as I love my father Mr. Judge. Thank you for everything.

Just discovered this show today... It's addictive.. watched every episode I could find! I received a parking ticket 2 years ago in a confusing construction zone... long story short... the Judge in my case was absolutely just and fair... and engaging... Just as seen here! Reduced my fine from $140 to $25... Which was very fair... Brings up the point the judicial system can be and is fair and human! Second of all.. be respectful and attentive on your day in court.. omg... Anyway love this show!

Sorry judge but that camera is ABOVE that box truck...that gives you a perfect view of the light. She is down on the road...I've been there...perhaps she was following the truck to closely but I believe from her standpoint that she indeed couldn't see that light

Lady at the end was right, just couldn't explain the difference in elevation between her car and the camera being the issue.

I've been in that position behind a truck and received a RL citation. I paid it but I don't believe I should have. Creating a gap that allows the truck 1/10 mile so one can see signs and lights isn't always an option. Sometimes, you find yourself wedged between two trucks in traffic from light to light -- are you going to push traffic back? In any case, this only happens when the truck in front barely makes the light leaving the car in this situation.

Mr. Caprio I am living in Jamaica and i do watch your show. You put yourself in other person's shoes which shows you are human.

This is one I believe. actually. I live In Alabama and even here with the few red lights we have I refuse to be behind tall trucks during the day like this. It's extremely difficult to see the lights. Usually the trucks block your view until after they pass through the light.

There’s all kinds of claims of sovereignty by citizens of our country and therefore they think they’re not subject to our laws. They try this on everything, not just traffic court.

The lady at the 20:50 mark is sorta right. To be fair she was sorta far back and should be able to see over such the truck. However, I've had this happen many times with the larger 18 wheelers in my town where I couldn't see a thing. Other than that awesome video as always!

The lady with the truck in front of her was travelling at a safe, reasonable distance and the truck obstructed her view of the light. Why the judge can't understand this simple law of geometry is beyond me. He's normally really good.

I've been watching quite some cases and a few tough ones, too. I believe Judge Caprio is doing excellent even in tough cases, where he must decide over one's head no matter what. Here where I am, you can't trust anybody and in the least place, really, the Justice. In Italy, if you ever get convicted, you are lost, unless you know the law better than the lawyers and, be also an excellent talker because you can turn the case into a rightful case. What I want to say is, that if you cannot defend yourself, you are doomed, because law enforcement is not worthy any more. Italian and Roman law were the best in the world, but now they are at the worst.

If you don't see the light, slow down, assume it is red. Red until proven green so to speak. I really don't get this excuse. The only exception to this is when the light isn't permanently not visible. People appear to not be concerned at all about passing a red light, even though that can result in serious accidents, damage, injury and death.

I want to go more into law and we get a lot of practice by observing cases. If these courtroom behavior things could be something more often, it would be super!!! I'm sorry, but a box truck is tall enough to obscure a light. A short person behind the wheel does not have the same vision as you do watching the video. You were wrong your honor.

I was nearly killed by a red light runner. Had a brain trauma, lost my business, didn't recover for years, developed a seizure disorder. I have no sympathy for people who care so little about others, and I think the judge is irresponsible with some of his decisions on that infraction.

We need the like of Judge Caprio in this World. Oh wait we need to be like him. 🙏🙏🙏

This judge is setting such a dangerous precedent in this video. Nothing worse than seeing court footage that's not realistic of the real thing. People in this court are treated with too much respect by a fair judge who a very reasonable man. In the end this video portrays what actual JUSTICE in the US court systems should look like.

Protip, I drive for a living...., now if you are going to go through a red light or you think you are cutting it close, tap your brakes for a second (not hard enough to apply any braking force you just touch the peddle so the brake lights light up) as you cross the line and just after the line, if you get a ticket and go to court you can say you clearly tried to stop, but were unable to do so in a manner that was safe. You will win every-time....

Regarding the last lady: if she can't see if the light has turned red because of the truck then she should slow down enough so that can stop if the light is red once she is close enough to see it. It's not safe to blindly go through lights. Watching the video, I can see that she sped up to make it through the light, likely with the hope of just catching the tale end of the yellow but unfortunately she caught the red).

Its not the people that need negative scrutiny, its the court. The judge should be not fair and compasionate, but hold up the rule of law. Thats why all you RI folks have the state in which you live in such dire straights. Quit being fair and compasionate. Do what you took an oath to do, listen to the facts, not feelings, and make the call by the rule of your laws that all you vote for, or if you don't like them, then vote to change them. Quit doing the same thing year after year after year and expecting something new at the end of it all. Put in some republicans and you'll maybe see some changes to RI. I miss living there, but just was priced right out of the housing market and i know folks who i grew up with who also can't afford to live with their families anymore. You southern RI anders need to quit being so hoyty toyty and quit voting for illegals and letting criminals roam the streets of places that you don't have to live in.
