If CMSgt Gutierrez signs your package you better train like you would rather die then quit or fail. There is only one direction and it's forward. Your plans a to z in completing that selection course. Don't think about anything outside of your small circle. Your whole world is right there. Live in the moment. Earn each breath. Words of wisdom from my friend Mike " how do you swallow an elephant? One bite at a time. How do you climb mountain Everest? One step at a time." Mike taught me if the bigger picture is to overwhelming then just focus on each task right in front of you and do it the best you can. Don't let CMSgt Gutierrez down, don't let an entire nation down. Serve with honor and integrity. Those are some of the thoughts that came to my mind when I watched this video. Thank you to all the ones ready guys and the guests that come on to talk and teach us so much incredible wisdom. Thank you CMSgt Gutierrez. You are a legend, a hero, an all American Bad ass!
I haven't made it far into the show yet, but what CMSgt Gutierrez said in the beginning struck a cord with me; have some self respect and respect for the process when applying to go SW y'all. You don't want to be last at almost every event. That aspect will wear you down till you are failing the standards. I haven't been to A&S yet, but I've been the person in last. And if I was in an event where I was required to perform within a short time scale, I wouldn't have been able to rise to the occasion, physically. Yeah it's a mental game, once you're physically prepared. "Not quitting is expected, show up and show us that you belong." - Mr. Free
Thank you CMSgt Guiterrez for the sobering thoughts regarding the reality of working with sister services in special operations. Put plainly, It is NECESSARY to exceed the standard. hooya!
Asking here since it's relevant to the podcast: As a sister service transfer candidate (hopefully), would a congressional reccomendation similar to getting into an academy help? This podcast just got my brain turning on things I can do to put a better resume together.
Looking forward to the next episode. Since discovering this channel many of my questions have been answered furthering my desire to attempt SW. My wife is like f you guys. Haha! Thanks for the help.
"If exceeding the standard of the standard, then if you exceed the standard, then you meet the standard for exceeding the standard. But that means you don't exceed the standard. ???"
@@OnesReady its almost like every breath is earned. There's a simple saying that stuck with me back in my XC days and it applies to this career field as well. "Running never gets any easier. It just gets faster." future candidates need to confront the reality that specwar doesn't necessarily get "easier" before, during and after the pipeline. Over time, operators develop their mind, body, and spirt to be more capable at accomplishing the mission set that they are trusted with. Staying ready to preform in any environment requires a constant push to exceed yesterdays precieved standard. for all you nerds out there: Breethe < Succeed Loved this reality check episode.
