AWESOME video - thanks for it ......... CP is one of my favorite places to be! I often think I would like to retire to Lake Erie and work there during the summers ........
Thanks 4 making a grown man cry!!! I've only been back home once since being shippped overseas 4 the military...Took my daughter 4 her 12th Bday..She loved it! My daughter & I were one of the last 2 Mill Race riders before it was shut down that night 4 good...Sad 2 C that alot of the oldie but goodie rides are gone (but not forgotten). My favs were Blue Streak, Rotor, the AWSOME JUMBO JET, and the Sky Ride thru the Main drag were we use 2 throw pennies at the crowd down below us... THX 4 memory
Good video! I worked there in 1995 and celebrated the 125th year and it was also the first time I ever came to USA! Fantastic, vivid memories! Friendly staff and Customers! Awesome year 1995 was!
I was born in 1953 at Sandusky Ohio USA. Cedar Point will always be my favorite amusement park. My husband and I are taking our 3 grandchildren this July on our honeymoon. Their second trip to the park. Our first attempt was rained out..2019. Didn't try to go the year of the pandemic.
This video brought back a lot of memories for me, too! It isn't available on DVD that I know of, so I just had to post it...such a shame if CP fans like yourself never got to see it. Glad you enjoyed it! I hated to see Mill Race go as well, and sadly, many more rides will disappear.
I still hope to find a walk through video of the Fun House, or as we called it 'The upside down house. I remember a witch, a rocking chair on the ceiling and those spiral slides at the end to exit.
Merry Christmas Coaster Bob! Thanks for this AWESOME video, just put up a disclaimer :). I still love Cedar Point- The olden days had that family appeal because the world was different. Times have changed, people have changed. These movies always make me happy. I am seeking for the one song "Get to the point". It goes Where summer dreams come true... So nice! :) Once again, thanks for the post- so neat, and Merry Christmas!
Thx 4 the response CoasterBob62. Have alot of history with that ole park...my brothers worked their...I myself did not..was shipped off to bootcamp..the day of my BootCamp Graduation my dad went to pick up one of my brothers from work at CP and twisted his leg bad in the CP parking lot so he had 2 miss my Military Graduation...My parents were close friends with Jungle Larry and his wife... I remember as a kid my parents bought their old brown Kingswood station wagon..It smelled from his animals
I remember being in Jungle Larry's with my little brother in the early 70s. A young couple was standing in front of us, admiring a male lion. He turned around and with tail in the air, peed on the couple! We still laugh about that today!
very fascinating stuff... I'm amazed at all the smaller county-fair rides that were at cedar point in the old days...I wouldn't go to an amusement like cedar point if it was just chuckfull of those damn spinning rides haha
Thanks Bobblehead and Merry Christmas to you too! I wish I had that "Get to the Point" song...I don't think I do. I'm hoping that CP will post some of that stuff on their channel. Take care!
I worked there for 7 seasons way back the 70's & 80's. So sad that your dad missed your graduation from a freak CP mishap! I used to love Jungle Larry's. Always felt sorry for the animals because of Corkscrew running next to them all day long.
Is this the place where there was an old lady up side down, in a rocking chair, with a cat that swished it's tail out of the way, so it didn't get its tail rocked on? I remember an upside down chandelier on the floor.
And CP is even more different going into the 2018 season compared to the 1995 season. Mean Streak is now Steel Vengeance (I'm so excited to ride this!), Space Spiral was demolished for GateKeeper (I wish they could have relocated it. I think it would have been cool to have a ride like that in Frontiertown. Not sure exactly where it would have gone though), and the coasters are even taller now compared to Magnum's 205 feet height (SV is 205, WT is 215, Val is 223, Millie is 310, and Dragster is 420).
This is the first time I've seen mentioned of shoot-out on the train ride. My brother was born in 65, and was still a toddler and very impressed. When we boarded the train, people in western attire, guns on the men and fancy dresses on the women also boarded. At that time there were bare dirt mounds along side the tracks. Suddenly horses jumped over those mounds, riders shooting guns. We passengers were startled, some screaming. The actors on the train promptly jumped up and shot them dead!
You would have hated it back in the 40's & 50's. There were maybe 2 coasters and a big bunch of spinning rides and dark rides. If I don't get sued in the next week or so I'll post that stuff.
