Still ...my favorite and in my opinion ...the best demo/comparison of two celestion speakers. Love the fat tone ...and the simple but killer chord progression. Thanks for sharing, your demo is what helped me hear/understand these two speakers ...so I bought two of each. Love em both.
JetStream EL34 thanks man!! ✌️✌️mmm i love closed cabs. If i were in usa i would buy anything from metropoulos but semi open mmm a two rock or mesa but i love Greenback or creamback 🤔
This new 2x12 semi-open (mostly closed, slight ovular opening) is for home. The "extreme directionality" of a closed back makes me stand directly in the center of the cab, if i move to the side of the cab, the mids and highs get muted, where the semi-open back cab fills my room. Again, your video is killer. Super cool chords and riffs, then the back to back comparisons highlight their commonalities and differences.
I have been building my own speaker boxes out of pine bookshelves. The cream backs sound great in these. They are well broken in and compared to Greenback (a brand new one) the have less mid range and more bottom end. The Greenback is almost too mid rangy and honky in the pine cab but sounded better is a jet city ply 2x12 cab combined with the Creamback.
In my opinion the G12M-65 Creamback tames the JCM 800 highs which are a bit excessive for me. Usually people say that about the greenback for jcm800, but creamback goes a step further and in my opinion nails much better that frequency. I know it's a personal taste, but I absolutely enjoy the more balanced sound.
I think the Creamback rolls off some of that "high mid" frequency of the Greenback, just a tiny bit, making it sound a bit smoother. I can not decide which I like better. They both sound very very good here.
both sound great in their own way, hard to pick one! think i'll just go with the greenback, can't go wrong with either one since both sound miles better than the seventy/80
Excellent demo! They both sound great but I prefer the openness and clarity of the Greenback. The Creambacks always sound a bit "foggy" to my ears, if that makes any sense.
Abrazo!!
Great comparison!! Sounds similar and Celestion has admitted that Creamback M are suppose to sound as the green with more power handling. I like the fusion between a creamback M and a V30
Celestion didn't have to admit anything from day one the M65 was marketed as high power substitute for the G12M. In their product description they Said its like a vintage greenback with a higher power rating with more low end and a tighter low end . Celestion never tried to hide this so there was no admission to be made . They may sound close the the a modern greenback reissue but they sound very different from a vintage early 70s greenback. To get a better idea watch Johan Segebourne compare the M65 to a vintage M25. There is a much bigger difference there in that video the M65 Sounds just like Marshall describes a greenback like speaker with higher power handling and a bigger tighter low end bur there are other differences. Because it's rated for higher power you don't get the early top end speaker breakup that is a hallmark of the vintage G12M sound. It's also a slightly darker and warner than the G12M 25. The M65 has less upper mids than the M25 but more lower mids . They are still very greenback like but far from identical They difference is much more apparent in persons.
@@estudioENTRETELONES Care to share the settings that you have on the amp and the Slate VMR? I like that sound, its very van halen but also super smooth!
Tremendo video!!
They are both fantastic, and your skills and music taste are amazing! The speakers are 8 or 16 ohm? How do you choose between them, if the amp head can match with both?
MartinStromer85 thank you so much!! they are 8 ohms. If I need a sound on the front I choose the creambacks and if I need an open sound i choose Greenbacks, but they both work very well on any ground!
@@MartinStromer85 8 are somewhat darker and tighter sounding. But more important is that impedance of the cab maches maximum rate on AMP. If it is 16 ohm, then that amp best sound is on the 16 ohm.
Sensational demo! I don't think you can go wrong with either speaker. If my amp has an immediate attack, I'd go with the 65; the greenback is great with something that has a bit more sag. Excellent job, Sir!
@@estudioENTRETELONES Wow ...I am surprised with the amount of and quality of gain your are getting with a JCM800 and Antiquity Humbuckers. Again ...well done ...substance over flash any day.
Good demo, Greenbacks are way better sounding to my ears - the Creambacks are too dark and too nasal. It might justbe that the taste of the entire guitar community has been created from the Greenback sound....
Not even close. The v30 has that ice pickle treble spike around the 2.5k hertz to 4k hertz and a massive 100db sensitivity shouting it down your eardrums. The greenback does not have it at all just a very wide midrange with a sweet treble and it is low sensitivity at 97db. Two polar opposite speakers.
