Now the fun begins, well not fun but more frustrating than anything. I could not get in my mind what the whole SPACING of the nozzles was about. Don't laugh, it worked...laying out the corn rows with boards!!
Little did I realize I wasn't setting it up row spraying yet, so it was a battle in my mind. Finally got the point and rolled right along with it!!

It's looking good. It's going to be an interesting summer watching your corn grow. I enjoyed the layout with the boards, sometimes a guy needs the visual.

We have the translucent hose with the reenforsing in it. Where the old sprayer was parked, it was exposed to the sun year round. It's still there, after 40 years.. before that, most sprayer hose here, was yellow or orange, extruded on the outside. It didn't hold up near as well. BTW, a little hot water, or a heat gun work wonders for getting the hoses on. Looks good 👍

Thank you Ed for that info, it seems really robust for sure!! I like being able to see what's going on too!! I didn't think about a heat gun, that would have worked great!! We use a couple of different nozzles depending on what we are spraying. We have a 5 gallon per acre nozzle and a 10 gallon per acre nozzle. Of course those are Canadian gallons…😂😂 We spray at 5 mph and our sprayer pressure is 40 psi. Any faster and stuff gets too rough. 😆 Another job done! 🙌

I think a total revamp of the boom sections will come, I know a lot more now than I did going in....but there is so much left to grasp!! 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤣🤣 Those first ones I had would have me bounced off the seat trying to run that fast!! I am at 4-5 mph and about 35 psi, and that is really rough for me in theses fields too 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ Thank you both for always being here, I really appreciate that!! I've seen sprayers with the translucent hose. Dad would try to plant when the oak leaves are the size of a squirrels ear. Usually early May. My brother tells me someone was planting 15 miles from me. I'm thinking commercial peas. Andy should be along soon with advice. Thank you Nelson.

I'm not sure if it's right, but we gonna give it a try!! That's a pretty wild way, the leaves but that's experience!! I hope to be planting weather permitting about the last week in this month. Usually around here it ranges from 15-15 of April and May. I haven't seen anyone plant here yet, but I feel like it will be wide open next week for most!! They are calling for mid to upper 80's all week!! I know someone that raises A LOT of those peas up your way! Idk, he has been kinda quiet here on the last one. 😁Thank k you Mr Bryce for always being here, I really appreciate that!! 👍👍😁😁🇺🇸🇺🇸

I like the use of props when figuring out the spacing. I've done similar things and it can really make a process easier! Up here i could never have booms that low- they would end up hitting the ground 😂 Super wet here, as usual....

I was hesitant on showing that, but I am a visual kind of guy, and thought it may help!! Seems I'm not alone, really took the guess work out for me!! Thank you sir for the input. @DylanJoyceFarms 2 месяца назад
Man, you're way overthinking this spraying thing 😂😂😂 I always considered 20 inches the lowest you can go and still get a uniform spray pattern. As you raise your boom, the fan from your spray nozzle gets wider. Also, when you get in season, your target will be considered the top of your corn or weeds, whichever is taller. Next time you buy tips, get ya some 110s, a little better coverage. You're probably going to need a yellow tip if I had to guess. Black hose on the sprayer will last longer and typically rated for higher pressures, but if it's kept out of the sun, it shouldn't matter.
@Pennies_on_the_dollar
@Pennies_on_the_dollar 2 месяца назад
Overthinking, boy that's an understatement for sure 🤣🤣🤣🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ Y'all only saw a few minutes of the battle in my mind over this spray thing 🤣🤣🤣 Makes perfect sense, I think I will redo a sweet of booms with better nozzle bodies, tips and selection. As well as a set for some N drops, that's the beauty of such small booms I suppose!! 😁😁 Thank you very much for the insight on the tips, and about the height. It's weird all old school stuff with 80's was sprayed at 20" but the tee jet chart shows 30". 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ I have heard about the algae and sum hurting the clear, and makes sense about pressure. I am hoping to get BD and PE out and after I plant hopefully can revisit the little sprayer 🤞😁 But as with everything, the bad luck strikes before it even makes it to the field 😳😳 Thank you Dylan for always being here, and the great advice!! I really appreciate that!! 😁😁🌽🌽🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍

Sprayer is looking good! I'm in the same boat as you, I would love to not spray but working full time and having a family, time is not on my side. I had the co-op do my spraying last year and I'm happy with the job they did. I've grown corn without spraying and it was really weedy but it made some grain, not great but not too bad. I wouldn't attempt soybeans without spraying, at least not now. I think you're on the right track, Nelson! Hope you have a good one!

It truly is tuff Evan, the juggle with a full time job. The attention and timing that goes into what Jack, Tim, and Pete do is epic!! I had to admit my faults and know, I am never on time about anything, and missing a few passes when needed could ruin a crop!! I wish we had a co-op that would spray, less I had to worry about!! I have the same outlook, not shooting for extra clean, just corn growing maybe a little more corn than weeds 🤞😁 Boy that's one reason I shyed from beans. All my corn will be for hunters, so no dock at the elevator. I could go broke with beans if they got taken by weeds. Lots to learn yet before walking that plank. Always sounded good from the start, until I realized just wait it takes to do this 😳😳 Thank you so much Evan for always being here, the great advice, and encouragement!! I really appreciate that!! 😁😁🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍🌾🌾🌽🌽

As far as hose as long as it's a chemical agriculture grade you will be fine. As for your tips I would suggest you look at a tee jet guide as to how your setting up. In the past we used a turbo tip and we got them for free from the Roundup Company rep usually
