You can say the same thing about Mopar owners and Chevy guys. Most are cool but each has enough idiots in their ranks to make uninformed generalizations.
Jedi391 facts I have a ford, Chevy and hemi. By far the worse ones are the mopar guys...they talk shit about everything. When I got my 300c mopar friends were straight up finally you got a real car yada yada cuz the “mustang was not a mans car” even tho I still had the stang at the time. There’s a reason why mopar dudes don’t get respect in lmm. And the hemi actually gave me the worse problems.
MAKE SURE TO SUB FOR MORE RACES!...Hope you enjoyed the RT showcase. Though I took him in almost all runs, I wanted show how well it could actually do. Also keep in mind guys this was my first time racing a manual so I know I didn’t do the best, but practice makes perfect. Thanks for watching!
Sneaker Society the joke is that having a hellcat airbox has minuscule actual benefits compared to other mods. It is a minor mod. Not saying it does nothing but not much in comparison👍🏻 In the end having a hellcat airbox isn’t going to win you races😂 and intakes work but getting the the best filter will save you money and do about the same on these v8s. (Such as a K/N air filter)
1st and foremost Good job bro...but get u a after market intake....if the car let's out hella air it needs to intake hella air.. 100$ intakes on eBay will do u better than that factory box ..facts I swear...I own a 5.7
Same I been wanting a new mustang but his videos with all the problems then no more videos made me believe he got rid of the car lol I love the mustangs but if it's not gonna be as reliable as my camaro ss then screw that
Awesome runs. Awesome sportsmanship. I'm a Mustang guy but I am so incredibly in love with the retro muscle challenger style. I seriously almost bought an R/T but ended up waiting and got a 2020 GT instead and I'm definitely pleased with the car. I'd love to find a car group around me who appreciates all of these machines
I’ve bought about getting a gt but I’m gonna be getting a rt for me I don’t care so much about the extra speed the mustang gets I feel the retro feel the challenger offers is worth the loss of speed
@@rileyenia9388 having the car for 2 months now I've found that I haven't needed near as much power as it offers 😂 It's fun and gets compliments but that's no different than driving a challenger I think. I say drive what you like most
@@jdogmoney4556 I mean when you consider the mustangs consistently run 10-12mph in the 1/4 it should be close even if the RT was FBO… they’re on par with a stock 3v GT 🤣
@@Texas_Road_Warrior Exactly, rts are not fast. Quick but not fast. If they can even catch traction and not roll the tires their kinda decent from the dig. That's if it's a gt dude with a manual that can't shift for sh*t like in the video. But it's getting rocked even by a manual if the driver is somewhat decent. The manual 5.0 and 392's are usually dead even with the 10spd auto blowing both out the water.
I enjoyed this video and it shares my own experiences since I own both a 2020 R/T and a '14 GT. You are so right about the 5.7 being underrated. It is extremely quick off the line despite the weight difference. The 400 rated torque is key apparently. I find that my GT's 420 HP Coyote engine really kicks in at the very high RPM level. It puts you back in your seat. A fun comparison for sure and I think anyone would really enjoy either model unless you are into serious racing. Most owners are not and just enjoy their quick rides.
In the grand scheme of things, Challengers aren't that heavy. In fact they're kinda light when you consider the average car weighs more than a Challenger R/T in 2020.
Nice video, I am not sure your friend knows how to drop his gears to a higher rpm when roll racing. I have an RT but do plan on eventually going for either a Scat Pack or a Mustang GT with PP1 like yours.
NIce Video! I think my favorite races on youtube is the Camaro SS VS The Mustang GT it is pretty much a drivers race. Each side likes to say one will smoke the other but I have seen an a lot of videos with each car winning. Whenever I see those two line up it adds the suspense of which one gets it.
Get a Barton short throw shifter with two post bracket , steeda transmission bushing mount, SVE braided clutch line and a SVE clutch reservoir it should eliminate alot of your lockout the next thing would be to upgrade your clutch
I've owned a manual Mustang GT (2018) with the performance pack, I own a 2020 Scat Pack manual currently, as much as I love manuals, it is difficult to beat an automatic, even with more power unless you are really dialed in. I also have a C-6 Corvette Automatic and even though the GT and Scat Pack are tested slightly faster and are more powerful than my older Vette (430 horsepower), I've never got the acceleration numbers that I can get in my Vette. You are really just buying a manual these days for the love of the experience of driving them, the same stock car in an automatic is almost always going to win at the track.
You have a very nice 5.0! I suggest you look into getting a short throw shifter from Barton, MGW, or Steeda. I love my steeda triax. Doing so, will help prevent 3rd gear lockouts.
Abandoned? It was Ford who started the retro movement in 2005. Dodge is a 2nd mover and when Ford innovates the next "movement" in the industry I'm sure Dodge will follow. Sales are already dropping for the boat body styles and Dodge once again will be late to the party in changing with the times
Screw that. Dodge is keeping it real, mid engine Corvette? Gtfo. And the shelby gt500? That's just ford trying (and failing) to match the hellcat. The Challenger is the only American muscle car left. Its comfortable, smooth and looks the part. It's meant light to light, and that's where they dominate, and that's american muscle
Joshua again.. from someone who doesn’t know what there talking about. You’re an idiot. Typical dodge fan boy. Whatever makes you sleep better at night I guess. 😂👏🏻👏🏻
To prevent the lock out I try to shift at 6500 rpm and make sure your foot is pressed hard on clutch, also consider getting a stainless steel clutch line
Lock out is a genuine and annoying issue on mt82's but shift accuracy can still cause some grief. On my 2019 gt with the mt82 and stock shifter (with aftermarket urethane shifter bushing and trans mount insert) i have found the following- 2nd gear is not straight back from first, you need to hug toward your leg as you pull back, so back and to the left to get into 2nd when shifting fast under power 2 to 3- the shifter will try to self center you into 3rd as you shift, if you deliberately push over to 3rd you can overshoot the gate and hit between 5th and 3rd, try to just push forward from the back of the shifter ball and let the mt82 self guide into 3rd, try just pushing it in regular driving to get a feel for how the shifter wants to aim for 3rd on its own. This should get you shifting at 71 to 7200 rpm pretty reliably unless the clutch is overheated. Shifting beyond 7200rpm is a bit of a crapshoot on the stock clutch but the power is dropping off at this point anyway unless you are tuned.
The colour of you GT is awesome. Why does your transmission lock you out? Is that a normal thing for those transmissions? How come you haven't made videos in 3 years?
I can’t decide what I want. Interior/exterior are nice in the R/Ts but they’re slow for 25k- 30k. Exterior is nice in the mustangs but interior are trash but they will take off.
OP, check and see if your manual trans has a “skip shift” feature. My Scat Pack does, and under hard acceleration it’ll lockout 2nd gear. Some say it’s for fuel economy, others say it’s because gear ratios being so close you might as well skip a gear. Either way, it’s annoying, and can be eliminated all together.
Great video. You should guys find proper track to try out your cars, not to be distracted on the highway. Being R/T owner (Charger) have a respect to all muscle cars. From my observations, the R/Ts recently became out shadowed by Scat Packs / Hellcat / Demon, although they are very solid muscle cars with a lot of heritage.
I love the challenger classi look. But the stang is up next for me in classi style. I feel like camaro should have done more 60s'ish style tucked wit the oversized updated circle headlights... 😭 WOW
Coming late to this video but to answer the question about why the R/T was doing better at higher speeds.. The R/T was using his auto transmission and it has a gear skip starting at lower speeds the car will jump from 1st gear to 4th gear if you push it... Would suggest R/T switch into manual mode...
I haven't raced a 2020 in my 2010 RT but I have chewed up 2 Mustang 5.0s guessing 2015ish on the highway and every car from stop light to stop light. But I have only had this 2 weeks not sure what the previous owner might have done to it. Plus I only raced a Charger, BMW, and a guy in a g35 wasn't sure what he was thinking but i guess we both had fun.
Awesome video. Tbh. Probably should of done the runs from a stand still more that's where the challengers and charger perform well. It's legit the weight and power. For example a jeep SRT and the Durango SRT they make 700hp they set a quick 1/4mile run. But all this has to be done from a stand still. It's how fast the car can accelerate with it's factors of wieght and power. If the SRT was to do a roll race it falls flat on its face since it's power was balanced out for digs not rolls. It's obvious a heavy car would be to heavy to create a lot of speed. A lighter car will have issues with traction from a dig and wouldn't launch as well but once it gets rolling it achieves a higher speed. That's why a lighter car will always run faster at roll races due to the fact it's lighter. Scats will hands down put up a good fight especially a 4 door sedan charger against a 5.0 from a dig at around 100 to 120 it will fall flat on its face and get passed by the stang. But then facts are facts. The scat may have 485 horsepower but the car definitely weights 4400 pounds while the stang is 500lbs lighter. The stang has a higher advantage that most ignorance is left out saying it's a smaller engine. Definitely it is smaller but that things has dohc advantage which what keeps a car going on high rpm. Modding the stang with e85 and bolts on get these things going even farther. The 6.4 hemi being a single cam only gives out the natural power it packs to deliver which is a monster but modding it would only get it to be as fast as it can go til you have to do some internal modding. Even though the main reason would be the parts are limited and really expensive. The rt in this video would of probably been neck to neck on a dig or got the jump if it were from a dig. But stang would win once it hooks up and reels in. if it were the scat it would walk the stang from a dig until it approaches a speed where it falls on its face from it's aerodynamics and weight. Even at roll racing the scat would hang on until it gets up around 110 to 120 were again it falls on its face while the stang continues to go and go.
Get some Steeda or BMR stop the hop kit. It'll make a world of difference then get the MGW or Barton Hybrid shifter and you will gap that dude easily. If you get lighter wheels, that'll gelp a lot as well.
I think the title is backwards lol Looks like he only got you that one time because you missed a shift, which isn't a legit race to me; deserves a restart. But good runs man, love both cars. Subscribed.
Unless youre a master at shifting gears, in a manual you just gotta get used to losing more. Human error / inconsistency.. Theres no reason why a RT should beat a GT otherwise, especially those 2018+.
Truth coming from a manual my whole life guy. You can’t out shift these modern autos. Unless you have a massive power advantage you’re likely on the losing end. A 2018+ with the 10R80 will wax a Scat with a good driver in both cars.
Haha good runs man I wish I was around your area I’d do some runs with you, I can hardly find any big mustang crowds around GA just a lot of old dudes who love cruising nothing wrong with that but they’re very reserve, and then the kids with the eco boost. Lol I just gotta keep looking I’ll find my pack eventually
I'm on the younger side but I think I'd rather enjoy cruising with the old dudes haha. I guess I got all of the racing out of my system with my first mustang. I'd race anyone for any reason. Now I have one with almost twice the power and I don't want to race anymore
I’ve never been “locked” out my gears, when “racing” or hitting max rpms to me you can’t drive/shift your car if your getting this result, that’s an excuse for driver error, don’t blame your car dude.
Straight pipes kill your low end power. You need some kind of regulated back pressure. The RT was set up all wrong. Good air intake and a couple pacesetters would do the trick. Higher octane.
Ive had straight pipe, a mid exhaust dump, and 5 different kinds of exhaust. Straight pipe does indeed hurt. And its raspy as shit. Like a chihuahua. Not enough bite to back up the bark.
