Joy, I hope you see this. Today, and in all good fortune, I was able to buy a bottle of Bois Noir, the very first iteration of Egoiste that was limited to 2,000 bottles and was only sold in three Chanel boutiques. It was immediately discontinued as being too dark and with no mass appeal. The reformulation ended up as Egoiste, and it has gone through a few reformulations. I now own every single version of this product, in all sizes and name variances (14) in total. However, Bois Noir is the best of the best. I would like to send you 3 MLs if you would like to review it against the vintage Egoiste as I do trust your nose. I offered this as well to one other reviewer. How do I reach you?
My signature cologne for 3 years now. New formulation is more modern. Vintage (pre 2005) very potent, rich, long lasting, but somewhat dated compared to latest formulation. I prefer this one. Even the previous one in rectangular bottle was not as refined as this one and had pronounced metallic note that was off-putting to many. I hope they never discontinue it.
I've been wearing Franck Olivier Eau de Passion for 2 3 years as my signature warm weather scent (its warm most of the year here) and today I saw in Fragrantica Platinum Egoiste as the similar stronger version in reviews, FO is about 15 to 20 usd here and Egoiste is only available online, can you do a comparison between this two, this review seems a lot like Eau de Passion but if its really better I'd happily pay the 65 usd for Egoiste as potentially my new better signature
Hey Joy, just checked out chanel allure homme eau extm n platinum egoiste today at a Chanel outlet. boy awesome smelling scents.. got me confused which one to pic , any suggestions?
i love this frag, my all time fav..a masterpiece...but i find it classy, not so versatile, i don t ware it at gym, or cassual......i ware when i dress up.
andrew636 you’re absolutely right. Sadly, last month I got Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme and had it for one full week. I got not a single compliment off of it, and the dry down was sickening after a while. Too like powdery.
Joe R it’s an unfair comparison, because I went from 0 compliments on AHSEE. Literally 0. To a few compliments on Platinum Egoiste but nothing groundbreaking. And then some great and more frequent compliments from people on the original Allure Homme. That one even got me compliments from my own family members who are SICK of my fragrance obsession hahaha.
